What is a general guideline for the stock-up price on TP? Obviously, this deal is a good one, but what figure do you generally use? Thanks!

  2. KellyJ

can we use the $2/1 coupons online ?

    • KellyJ

Nevermind. Got my answer. ty collin

  3. Alicia Maloney

Does anyone know how many of these you can buy? Is there a limit of 1 per transaction or per household?

    • Elizabeth

I was just going to ask the same thing. I think I have about 5 of those coupons for $2 off!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      The rep said 10.

  4. Jennifer

Has anyone used this toliet paper? Is it soft or like Scott’s original 1 ply? Great price but not if it isn’t soft or durable.

    • Emily

The reviews on Staples’ website are almost all unhappy with the product. General complaints were that it isn’t soft, is very thin, and comes unrolled off the tube to pile on the floor. I think I’ll pass on this one!

    • Mary Beth

I haven’t read the reviews on Staples.com, but I like this TP much better than Charmin or Quilted Northern. If it’s the 1,000 sheet rolls, they last much longer and — while I agree they aren’t soft and fluffy – they also don’t shred at the slightest touch. The quilted stuff doesn’t hold up . . . I didn’t know what the Charmin bears were talking about (bits left behind on the behind!) until we tried some of the “better quality” TP and were going through a roll a day. Also does not fall off the roll — again if it’s the 1,000 sheet/roll.

      • Carolyn

I was hoping it was the 1,000 sheet/roll kind, too, but it’s only 168 sheets/roll. That’s nothing! 🙂 We’re big fans of Scott TP in our family and I stockup when it’s cheap… I found some at Target a few months ago for 75% off so we’re loaded for awhile. 😉 It’s fine for us, and I hate the smaller rolls that end up needing to be changed every day – even free, that’s more work for us, and I still prefer Scott, besides that I don’t mind when my toddler and preschooler go a little crazy with the toilet paper because there’s still plenty on the roll.

        • Laura C

I’m with you – after couponing for 2 years and trying various TP deals, I went back to Scotts 1000, might cost more and go on sale less, but the value is so obviously better.

    • Phyllis

This TP is not so great. The office I used to work at uses it. It is office quality, not a fan, but might be worth it for the price 🙂

      • Carol K

I have several months of tp stockpiled (Northern, Cottonelle, Marcal, CVS, etc…)
I didn’t start as a big fan of Marcal, but my husband LOVES it. He says it is the only brand that does not fall apart and does not cause “dingleberries.” Eeew! I too have really grown to like my “office style” tp and even though I have a mountain of tp I think I will take part in this special!

    • Sue L

The quality is not good. I would not buy unless it is free or MM.

      • Janice

Its really not good at all. I got it with the $1 coupons that were out because that made it .19 for a 4-pack. I wouldn’t pay a penny more than that. The rolls are skinny, most tp rolls will last a 3-4 days around here, these last 1 day, barely.

    • Rei

It’s 2 ply BUT it’s super skimpy and 1 roll literally lasts a day and a half! I got it a few weeks a go since it was a MM…I wouldn’t pay to buy the stuff.

  5. Sunshine

There are reviews on staples website. I think I’m going to pass on this one due to reviews.

  6. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I was wondering about the 5$ Shop at home for new customers. I didn’t get the credit for my Entertainment book purchase and when I emailed them about it they said they don’t give a 5$ sign up bonus. Help????

    • Ashley Marie

I signed up for Shopt@home when I purchased the Entertainment Book as well. I just signed into Shop@Home and it says my cash back is $12. $7 for the book and $5 for a refer a friend/sign up bonus.

*5/12/2010 3:39:00 PM Invite A Friend Sign up Bonus $0.00 Not Available $5.00
      5/11/2010 10:47:00 AM Entertainment.com 507952979 $12.00 Write A Review $7.00
      Cash Back Balance: $12.00 *

      Hope that helps.

      • Ashley Marie

It looked confusing… hope this helps clear it up a bit. In the end I got a $5 sign up bonus.

5/12/2010 3:39:00 PM Invite A Friend Sign up Bonus $0.00(this was “order total”) Not Available(this is under the “write a review” column) $5.00 (total cash back)

        5/11/2010 10:47:00 AM Entertainment.com $12.00(“order total”) Write A Review $7.00(“total cash back”)

        Cash Back Balance: $12.00

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Did you just go straight to shop at home and sign up? If you did that then you won’t get the $5.00. In order to get the $5.00 sign up bonus you must get a referral from a friend. Go to one of Collin’s shop at home links and sign up through there.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Bummer! I already did it. I think I linked from this site, but who knows. Ugh!!!!!!

    • Pattil24

I think the $5 ‘cash back’ from Shopathome is really misleading. I signed up when I did the Entertainment book, but now I don’t get that $5 until my total is $20. What’s with that? Kinda hard to build a case for a cheap entertainment book when I can’t get the money — or am I missing something?

  7. Seven

I’ll pass on the deal. The facial tissues are rough, so I don’t think the TP is going to be soft.

    • Rebekah

the facial tissues are horrible I agree but i really don’t mind the TP…not that bad!

      • Marquisha

I was thinking the same thing! I’m too scared to try! I tried the facial tissues and my nose still remembers how rough they were, so my bottom will not be getting anywhere near the toilet paper!

      • Carol K

I agree. I HATE the tissues and will not use them even if they are free. I use the tp daily though. It’s not thick and fluffy, but it comfortably does the job!

  8. Amanda Schrepfer

Is this very good TP? My husband is picky ; )

    • Erin

No. It isn’t good at all. I got a twelve pack for free and I was counting the days til it was gone. I think the single-ply CVS tp that was free a few weeks ago is better than this stuff.

  9. jackie

This TP is very thin and very cheap. It’s like the kind at a rest stop bathroom:-) I guess similar to scotts, nothing at all like charmin or the other name brands! Hope that helps someone!

  10. zina

Nice price but I have enough for a two years for DH and I. Thanks to FREE TP from CVS (Yearly deal on Cotonnel!)

  11. msdis

This stuff is sort of like the toilet paper you find in a 2/3 star restaurant. Better than a gas station but not that stuff you’d use at home for somebody picky.

  12. Tilla

i find the very best toilet paper is kirkland from costco..it’s not cheap, but a good value 36 individually wrapped rolls (so you can stuff them anywhere and they don’t get dirty) for 17.99. it lasts us as a family of 6 for at least 2 months. we only used to use charmin but as my uncle says “it’s too soft and balls up on my bung hairs” sick but true:)

    • Jessica

      That is too funny

    • Michelle C

OMG… did you say that outloud??? or type it anyway?? LOL… so funny!

    • Adele

      I sooo needed that laugh…

I can’t even type correctly (had to spell check a few times) I am laughing so hard…

      • Jessica

LMAO! I love that you typed that 🙂

    • Missy

Oh my gosh, Kirkland figures out about 50 cents a roll… 425 2p sheets… Good price… Have been using Charmin Mega Rolls (just noticed price on Amazon is good a good deal with free shipping) Gonna try the Kirkland.. this time to see if we like… thanks for posting.

Just a tip, the thinner the TP the more ya have to use to get the job done 🙂 Especially 1p. Not that cost effective when it is thin.

    • mamabear

im still laughing at dingleberries, and then i read this i bursted out again!!!! i needed a laugh thnx!!!! 😀

  13. Janet

Thanks but I think I will pass. This stuff is very thin and too rough! TP is something that I desire better quality, and thankfully still find alot of coupons for the better stuff too. Although It IS good to put out for company you do not care for… JK – LOL

  14. Annie

This toilet paper is really thin and rough. I usually pick up any TP that is cheap and this stuff is 10x worse than anything else I’ve bought. Love the eco concept and all the sales and the coupons on this stuff, but I wouldn’t use it even if it were free.

  15. elizabeth a.

I’ve used Marcal for the past year because I am trying to buy only eco-friendly paper products. It is 2-ply paper, it’s not super fluffy soft but its not sandpaper, either. It doesn’t pool up on the floor. It’s perfectly good toilet paper, in my opinion, but who knows, maybe I’m strange or just easily satisfied. 😉 I haven’t read the Staples reviews, just thought I’d add my own thoughts here, FWIW. I plan to buy 2 of these if I can – I won’t need TP for months.

    • Nina

I agree, it’s not the softest but it’s thick enough to get the job done. It works great at our house!

    • Michelle

I agree with you too! After the $1/1 coupon I get a 4 pack for 19cents. Works for us right now.

  16. Amanda S.

I picked up a few 4 packs of these today at Albertsons with the $2 coupons making each 4 pack just .64 cents. My daughter is potty training and this is perfect for learning that TP is not just for playing with! I have used it to and it seems fine but no where near the quality of my beloved Charmin. It does its job however if you are really looking to save money or stock up! 🙂

  17. Sarah

If you are in FL you can get Marcal free at Albertsons until Tuesday. They are having an .88 cent sale, use the free up to $1 q from the 5/16 SS and only pay 6 cents of tax each!

  18. Heather W

In this house if there is tp on the roll that is all that matters. We aren’t picky here. I figure if anyone doesn’t like the toilet paper they can go buy their own! lol I mean look what you use it for and what you do with it when you’re done using.

    Thanks Collin!

    • Michelle C

      lol @ heather! funny

  19. Tanya

I also agree. This TP is very rough. Even their facial tissues are very rough. I think I will pass this deal/

  20. Whitney

I am unclear about whether this deal is online only or can you pick this up at the store.

    • KellyJ

They dont have them instore. but I guess they have Online Kiosks that u can order them in store and use coupons there.

  21. Nicole

I agree Heather…lol. I just ordered three of these and will pick up in store, which meant free shipping. 🙂

    • Alicia

how were you able to order 3? Is it coming up 4.99 for you?

  22. Alicia

It shows up as 18.99 still for me when I try to add it to the cart even though I clicked through the 4.99 link.. Am I missing something?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Same thing is happening to me 18.99??????????

    • Ashley Marie

What time zone are you in? Maybe that is the issue. It starts 12 EST it should be for everyone at that time, but who knows?

  23. KellyG

I don’t see the item either, still shows $18.99 for me.

  24. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

i was told by staples that they dont take manu coupons

    • mama high

      My staples takes Mqs.

  25. Ellen F

Not showing up for $4.99 either. The TP isn’t really all that great.. BUT I think I’ll use it for that cheap.. If I have guests I’ll change it up! haha

    • Dana

I am showing the Marcal napkins at $4.99 a pack. Hmm…I was ready for this deal! 🙁

    • Carol K

You are laughing, but I totally do that! The facade of living life with fancy toilet paper…

      • Carol K

My above comment was meant for the one referring to changing the toilet paper to the “good stuff” when company comes over. Just in case anyone is reading this!

  26. 3mora05

They are not showing up on sale yet. Still $18.99=(

    • lisa i.

you must checkout for ” DEAL of DAY ” price

      *** slickdeals.net has a coupon code to make ur online purchase $2.99 ( 3.77 after tax ) ***

      • Carol K

Thanks! I’m going there right now!

  27. kidsallgone

Well I’ve tried this deal for about 20 minutes and between the not-so-good reviews on their website and here, along with my aggravation of not being able to get credit for having 2 coupons, and then having the total come to $18.99 each instead of the $4.99 original price…….I think I’ll skip on this deal. Thanks anyway Collin. Love your site!

  28. KellyG

If you change the time on your PC to Eastern timezone, and then check the “Deal-A-Day Event” drop down under the Hot Deals Center you will see the running promotion and be able to access it. However, it is still showing $18.99. Hopefully they will fix it soon. Kelly@thecents2save.com

  29. Cyndi

    still not working 🙁

    • chris

Still not working and i am on ESt time. Almost 2 am. The best deal may be at the store and hopefully there will be an old navy near by to grab some $1.00 flip flops………Just a thought…go to sleep and get them in the am.

  30. Valerie

i’m in socal and i was just able to order two packs online very easily! thanks, collin!

  31. Elektra

    Staples (24pk) $4.99 – $2.00 coupon = 13.5 2ply sheets per penny
    Scott (12pk) $6.99 – $1.00 coupon = 20 1ply sheets per penny

    no coupons
    Staples $4.99 = 8.1 2ply sheets per penny
    Scotts = 17.2 1ply sheets per penny

  32. Anon

If these are just 168 sheet rolls like Carolyn up above said, I don’t see that it’s that great a deal.

  33. Valerie

This TP is very thin and not soft at all. I used the free coupons a coupon of days ago for the single rolls, and plan to donate all of them. My family doesn’t care for this TP, so I don’t purchase for us at all; no matter how cheap or FREE.

  34. thecents2save

It is working now, just submitted my order.

  35. Bella

For all the ladies who would not use these at their house, please consider to get them and donate them to a local shelter. You’ll be a great blessing.

    • Tee

Thanks!! Got it for $2.99!! Woot!

    • Karin

Thank you so much!! I got 3 for $9 something.

    • Jen Fluharty

      This worked perfectly!! Thank you!

  36. Dana

I just got 3 for $9…you can’t beat that deal! I will donate if it is so bad that we can’t use it, but I doubt it.

  37. Julie

For those who want to know if this tp is soft and durable..NOOO! It’s like wiping with a thin sheet of sandpaper! I realize we all LOVE a bargain but I got a few of the free rolls and OUCH!
Also, I have always read that a good price on TP is .01 per sq ft. Hope this helps.

  38. Michele

Thanks Collin. DH prefers extra soft TP while Mom prefers the thin kind. At least Mom doesn’t need TP for awhile now.

FYI the sale price shows up when you check out before you enter your payment information.

  39. h2t

Love all the posts and now I feel better that I was not able to order…. I called customer service – they said they do not take coupons….. then I try to order anyway and they said that they will not deliver to my area – seriously metro ATL??? Well, due to the reviews – my hubby would have HATED that deal!!

  40. Qpon Saving Mommas

What i am trying to figure out is how you will be able to use the coupon ?
You have to pay for it online and when you go to the store they will just accept the coupon then and refund you $2 ?
I’m betting my Staples will not do that.

    • Jessica

I got 10 packs @2.99 ea tax 2.92 free shipping total 32.82 good or bad I have 8 kids in and out of that bathroom all day as long as it cleans them they wont care if its soft or hard they are in and out in no time my family when everyone is here goes threw 2 rolls a day this is a great deal for the price Thank-you Collin

      • Jessica

BTW I had it shipped to my door and I didnt go to the store Thank-you Collin

  41. jill

Not sure which one this is but there are 2 versions of this t.p. one is single ply, very thin & rough. The other is 2 ply and embossed with a heart design and almost as good as the Kirkland brand from Costco. If you are not sure about this deal, some grocery stores (Shopper’s Food Warehouse & SuperFresh) carry this brand. Usually with Qs you can get 4 pk of the 2 ply for 0 – .16.

  42. Adele

Just bought 10 of these….There isn’t a minute in the day someone isn’t in the bathroom here..

Thanks to TheCents2Save for the SD deal…

  43. jason

its telling me i cant order it due to my area???? anybody know what thats about?

  44. Kimberly Funke

I live on Central time, and it changed at midnight central on my computer….the deal was awesome…YYYAAAAYYYY. Thanks!!

  45. Rhonda W.

I’ll pass on this deal. I can basically get quality TP for free @ CVS w/ my ECB’s. After reading the reviews, my husband said NO! Hope it works for the rest of you.

  46. Jennifer

There are already so many comments here but I will drop my two cents in the bucket. I use to only buy contonelle years ago being very picky but now buy whatever Is cheapest and have found it to be better. I agree that these may not be my top pick here but a good deal always wins in my house and there r no complaints! Thanks for the heads up on the deal… Greatly appreciated as always!

  47. Rachel

I went to the store and ordered 2! My total was $6.20 for 2 24 packs and i really like this tp i use the free ones all the time! They had a issue with the coupon not scanning but they fixed it and i should be getting it in monday or tuesday!

  48. brandy

Went into the store an they wouldn’t let me use my coupons 🙁

  49. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I was at Staples yesterday and found 6 rolls of Marcel paper towels for $5.40.

    • RM

they sell the single rolls of marcal paper towels for $1.00 at my staples so free after coupons.
