Recently, I posted about the commissary accepting Catalina coupons, specifically Walgreens Register Rewards. This post generated a lot of discussion amongst readers as to whether their particular commissary would be willing to accept Catalina coupons. Well, I am super duper excited to report the following directly from the DECA Facebook page

Did you know we accept manufacturer coupons that have a Walgreens Register Rewards, Kroger, Target and other retailer’s logo on them? Yes – as long as the coupon verbiage does not limit redemption solely to those stores. Each coupon must be individually evaluated to ensure it states it is a manufacturer coupon and doesn’t limit its use solely to the retailer advertised, the commissary can accept it.

WOO HOO!!! How great is that?! I would print this off and bring it with you when you shop at the commissary with your Catalina coupons!

(Thanks, Bianca!)

I emailed DeCA after your last post and after being denied using the catalinas and the next time I went in they said yes, no problem, I could use them. I did have to have a mgr. come over and approve them, I think because they were for $4.50 (from the WAGS bodywash rr this week) and the cashier said they were all briefed to what was allowed and it was no problem! Woo hoo! I told them I’d be shopping there more often now! I hate trying to roll my RR at WAGS because I have so many problems with them, but now I’ll just take them over to the commissary!

I’ve heard Ralphs (AKA Kroger in other states) accepts Register Rewards from Walgreens as well bnecause it is a “manufacturer coupon” & doesn’t say it has to be redeemed only at Walgreens. Ihahve been to chicken to try- LOL! But I probably should when I have a ton of Register Rewards to roll, but there is nothing good on sale at Walgreens (or thery are out of all the good stuff!). i think I need to go try! 😉

I wish this was the case all over. My Kroger in Texas won’t accept any coupons that have another stores name or logo on them, even though it says manufacturer’s coupon… I’ve tried.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That’s a bummer! I know someone who cleared it with a manager at one of the Ralphs close to my house & they have been accepting them. Maybe ask the managers at different stores? It’s always worth a try! =) Now I need to try! LOL! 😛

can you use it at walmart

so happy! if they argue i will pull out my phone and bring up there own facebook page for them!!!! 🙂

If a coupon’s bar code begins with a “5”, it is from the manufacturer and can be used ANYWHERE, regardless of any store name printed on it. Any other starting digit means that it’s for a particular store.

Glad I could share this valuable info Collin! Love your site…and now I can’t wait to use RR’s at the commisary!

Thanks so much for posting this. My Grandma hates Walgreens and CVS because she never goes back to use her rewards, but she shops at the Commissary every few weeks and if she could use them there I bet she would get more of their deals.

  7. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’ve always wondered if I can use these at other stores. I get a lot of them from HEB, but they would make for better deals other places. The coupons say they are manufacturer coupons and say ‘redeemable at HEB’ but don’t say they must be used there. This is the case with other stores also. Anybody know if other stores besides the commissary accepts these?

Love this news! Now I know where I’m gonig to be using my rewards!

Did you know that overseas commissaries will honor manufacturers coupons up to 6 MONTHS after the expiration date? I keep all of my unused, expired coupons and once I’ve filled a fair size box I choose an overseas commissary and send them off. I always check to see if they have someone to sort/make the coupons available, but I’ve never been turned down.

I know your husband is military, but didn’t know if you’d ever been stationed overseas or if you knew of this policy. It seems like all of your readers would have plenty of expired coupons to share!

I am sad after you posted this last time I went with my store coupons and they wouldn’t accept them. That Manager even said they weren’t accepting them. I think I’ll have to print their coupon policy off and take it to them next time!

I tried to use my Walgreens RR last week at the commissary and was denied. I contacted Danna Eldridge like one of your readers said to. She sent back a nice note stating the facts that yes they do accept them and she also sent it to the head manager at the commissary that I shop at. I am excited to try to use them again. If I have a problem I will ask to speak to that manager since I have his name and phone number. That will be so nice to be able to use the RR at the commissary instead of Walgreens where I always have to have filler items. I feel like I am wasting some of my money if it is not something I really need. Thank you so much for all the great info.

Shopped @ MacDill Commissary today – they will NOT accept any coupons BOGO – no matter where they are from!! Mgr backed up cashier – any suggestions or is this the norm? This was the 1st time I’ve attempted to use BOGO there. Yes, it was internet printed coupon, but that was not their issue, it was “BOGO”!!!

    • kristen

I’ve had this issue before, too. I emailed them and Danna Eldgridge emailed me back with their policy – this is an excerpt: “H. Internet coupons cannot be accepted for free products, however, “Buy One Get One Free” (BOGO) Internet coupons are accepted if they meet all other requirements.” If you go on the DECA website you can email them and they will contact the store mgr for you and set them straight 🙂 Hope this helps!

I tried to use my register rewards today and they actually refuse to accept them. I do g know what to do 🙁

I tried to use my Walgreen’s Register Rewards at the Air Force Academy commissary today — DENIED! The store manager photocopied them, took my name and number, and said she was going to contact Danna and ask her if it was OK then call me back…. we’ll see! She had the policy in her hands and she was all hung up on the “off your next in-store purchase” and “Redeemable at Walgreens” statement on the RR. Oh well, if I can’t use them at the commissary (which would have been nice) I’ll just use them at Walgreens; and on Tuesdays military gets 15% off at Walgreens here in Colorado Springs (I’m not sure if that includes dependents or just the military member, but I’m in the military so I get it).

Could I have a link to the updated policy?? Pls and thank you 🙂
