Follow Me Wednesday (and Thursday) as I Make a Few More Phone Calls to Walgreens!
Yesterday, I posted Part 1 of my 3 part video series that highlights phone calls that I made to Walgreens stores across the country. I ended the video yesterday in the middle of a very informative conversation 😉 with a Walgreen’s employee in Missouri. Today’s video will highlight the remainder of this phone call and will also showcase a call to the Lone Star state (my birthplace 🙂 ) and to Walgreens corporate. Enjoy and let me know what you think in the comment section below.
**If you can’t see the video, then go here to watch it.
*Please note that I contacted Walgreens managers in the following 4 states: Idaho, North Carolina, Missouri and Texas; and I called the Walgreens Corporate Customer Service Center in Alabama. Because these states only require one party consent to record a telephone conversation, I was able to record these phone calls legally! 🙂
Stay Tuned for Part 3….
Here is my issue with WAG. I’ve never had a cashier who can explain to you why your coupons or RR are being denied. They just say the computer won’t take it. So I finally figured out that if your RR is being denied you needed another item. But twice in the last few weeks, the register won’t print my RRs and they just say, Oh, well, maybe it’s because you used to many coupons on your order, or one even told me that it might be because I used a RR (from a previous week) when I checked out. But they’ve never tried to resolve the issue. I leave soooo confused every time. It seems like there ought to be some rhyme or reason as to why MF coupons are being denied or RRs aren’t printing.
You did not just stop there! The answers you get are what I get depending on what store I go to.
Thanks for all your calling!
I am SO glad that you did this. there are times I think that every store and every cashier has there own policy!
I agree with you there….it’s like they make it up on their own because they can.
Collin…you are too funny! This needs to go on America’s Funniest Home Videos! You could win $1000 compliments of Walgreens!!! Wouldn’t that be a hoot! I am anxiously waiting for Part 3! Keep up the great job! We all appreciate you being an advocate for all of us couponers out there!
I would expect a store to put you on hold in mid sentence not customer relations LOL.
I CAN NOT WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW!!! I thank you for doing this and I really hope you consider forwarding these videos/calls to Corporate themselves so they can hear what Asses they have working for their company and how in need we as consumers are to have a written coupon policy that applies store to store across the nation! Too funny! You are awesome Mrs. June 🙂
I just left Walgreens facebook discussion page. It is SO funny. Customers have had the police called on them. People working in the pharmacy complaining about people smoking in the drive thru line. . etc… .etc. If you have some time and want a good laigh check it out.
Oh my gosh I have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard at the end
lmao!! I am laughing along with you guys! WOW
Hilarious!! What is wrong with those people??!

I am sooooooo glad you did this. It makes me feel so much better (But Madder) that every store does seem to have its own policy. (Or lack of policy) I get a different answer from every person that works at our hometown Walgreens!!! This past spring I had a horrible incident with 2 Walgreens in Knoxville TN. My son, a student, has asthma and was suffering from severe bronchitis. He was in the middle of finals with no time to sit in the clinic. I asked his primary care dr. to call in meds for him. He did within the hour. My son made 5 trips to the store and they gave him the run around. 1st they didnt have meds ordered in stock but would in 4 hours. 2nd still had not arrived. 3rd time was next day and they acted as though they had never received the prescription. At this point he has high fever and I call to see if one of the other stores in town carry it. The pharm. tech hung up on me. I called back and they promised to have it at 8:00 that night. He got out of bed to go and get it and the pharmacy tech told him that the medicine ordered was “Old and outdated” and they were not allowed to fill it. This was I believe Polytussin or some tussin. I called my local pharmacy and they said that was crazy. It was prescribed daily and was not outdated. At this point I called them back and let go with both barrels on the Pharmacist who once again disconnected. I fired off a very detailed email to corporate using names and all info. Never heard a word back. Not one word. I think Walgreens had better pay attention to the customers or they won’t be around long.
I’m sorry that you had a bad experience which could have had a serious impact on your son. However, 1 experience with a bad phamacist doesn’t mean that all Walgreens pharmacists are bad. My brother is a Walgreens pharmacist. He graduated top of his class 1 year ago. He has such an excellent reputation that at the age of 25, they are begging him to be a pharmacy manager in his region. So please, don’t allow one awful experience to paint such a negative light on a company that does go out of it’s way to recuit the best! Hope your son is going well!
Wow! The CSR at corporate was….uhh speechless? I can’t believe their inconsistency! I can’t wait to see what corporate says!! I sure am glad that my Wag’s knows what I’m doing, has lots of binder toting coupon shoppers, and is polite about it! The only transaction they won’t do is the BOGO Q on a BOGO sale. They say I have to buy 4, getting two free. That’s why I love Rite Aid, it says right in their Q policy that I can get two items free!!
Ha! That was hilarious! It was just laugh out loud funny when the music came on!!
Oh my gosh, that call to the corporate… I used to work at a call center in customer service, you are ALWAYS supposed to ask the caller if you can place them on hold. I cannot believe she stopped mid-sentence and put you on hold! Wow! I’ve had some trouble with Walgreens before, customer service though not related to coupons, it was an internet discount code on photos. They seriously need to develop some corporate policies and make sure everyone is on the same page. I am lucky enough to live in a city with options, I may just have to start shopping at CVS or Rite Aid.
That’s definitely a head scratcher, huh! Wow …. the WORST answers came from their Corporate Office and completely incorrect! That’s why I stopped shopping at Wag’s and give CVS all of my business now. I don’t have to worry about coupon order or the machine beeping. And the Cashiers are so much friendlier at CVS too as well as more knowledgeable! Looking forward to seeing Part 3 of your Wag’s video series!! 🙂 You are one funny lady Collin!
I really enjoyed this videos & think it’s awesome you took the time out to make these phone calls. (I agree with others & think you need to forward these videos to Walgreens too). This is a HUGE reason why I prefer not to shop at Walgreens. They have always had HORRIBLE customer service, they are very inconsistent, and I always hated their 2 for sales such as something being 2 for $1.00 well you gotta buy, you can’t just buy one and pay .50, drives me insane. But yeah for every manager to be so “dumb” about the policy/walgreens website, etc, it’s pretty sad!!! And MOSTLY for the main corporate office, wow!!!! This is hilarious and I cannot wait to see the ending of this video 🙂
P.S. I love your faces, you remind me so much of myself haha!!
Collin, you should do another one of these calling sprees to Walmart stores! Haha!
Any of other stores really! They all seem to be inconsistent… except maybe CVS in my opinion.
Thank you for a great laugh!!! I needed it!!!!
WOW , thats it, WOW hahahahahaha oh my!
Funny. Been there—my Walgreens said to purchase something small like gum if the coupon value is over the purchase price of the product, otherwise the scanner would not scan and take the coupon. I’ve used BOGos and have received items such as cleanser completely free. Good luck and thanks for the video.
Amazing. This is exactly why Walgreens SHOULD have a corporate coupon policy. Then they could have concise guidelines to educate their employees. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for tomorrow…
Whoa!! Walgreens corporate, seriously? What about when their ad states “Coupons in most Sunday papers” right next to a “Use our IVC to save $2!” I’m going to start a scrapbook of examples.
LOL!! I love it, these are so great to watch. Noone seems to know what they are talking about! Hopefully Walgreens will educate their employees now!
Oh my word, I can’t believe it! This is so utterly embarrassing for their company. Are you going to send them a letter drawing their attention to it? They ought to know how bad it is – maybe then they’d do something about it. 🙂
Sad thing is that is about the same thing you will get from most stores and corp centers LOL I actually went to a walgreens and the manager told me how to stack the coupons and how to make money with the RR’s (I think that what they are called, I don’t shop there much cuz its too far away) but I was suprised that he was so nice in explaining how to save money. Can’t wait for video 3 and the conclusion of that crazy call
Oh my… LOL can’t wait to hear the end of the corporate call. 🙂 Walgreens is pretty rediculous with their policies or.. lack or policies. Funny I had an experience like that today with Target corporate.. she had no idea what she was doing. Very surprising because usually I have noticed Target corporate is pretty helpful and knowledgable.. not today.
I had a similar problem at Rite Aide today. I went to a different one than usual my first time there. I tried to buy 4 of the stayfree BOGO with 2 BOGO coupons. The cashier stated vehemently that I couldn’t do that because both would be free. I wiped out my copy of policy and said yes I could. She got the manager and I showed him the policy. He read it, reread it, reread it and STILL did not understand it, all the while with the cashier protesting me getting two free. I had two coupons with four pkgs so he said he had the right to limit quantities so I said fine take 2 off my bill at which time the cashier piped in that I was still getting two free. He said let it go since I was not over the cost of the product. After I got home, I discoveredthe cashier messed up ad I was still charged for 2. Needless to say, I called customer service who apologized and is having the area general manager call me. I never stood up for myself in the past but you terrific bloggers have helped me find my voice. Thanks to you Collin for all you so.
And this totally explains why it’s such a nightmare to shop at any of the Walgreens near me.
LOL oh my, its so crazy how much we know more than a manager! lol. They need to learn a little bit more about thier own stores! lol You should email the link to these videos to Corp. And maybe itll make them make an official policy!
thanks for the laughs! this was great! I think you should do Walmart, Target and Rite Aid next! LOL.
OH, I needed a good laugh tonight! Thanks! I think this is why I don’t shop at Walgreens – too much drama and inconsistency for my blood!
OK, I am totally confused. I have been reading on various blogs about the great deals available at Walgreens from June 30 through July 3. So last night I got all of my coupons ready, and this evening I went to our local Walgreens store. I couldn’t find a special flyer for the 4-day sale, and nothing was marked on the shelves, so I asked one of the cashiers about it. She said another person had asked about this today, too, but there is no special sale in our part of the country (Minnesota). She said there are only the usual weekly specials. Then she went to double-check with someone else and came back saying the June 30-July 3 specials are only for people who have signed up to get E-mails from Walgreens (which I have done), and you need to print off a special coupon. When I got home, I called Walgreens corporate office, and they told me the 4-day sale IS going on at my local store and special flyers were sent out along with the weekly flyers. So I asked if someone could call the store and let them know the sale truly is going on in Minnesota. He said they can’t do that. ??????
That is crazy! I’m close to you and my store didn’t have any signs up or ads available but everything that was listed in the blog rang up correctly and gave me the right RR. If you want to see the ad-scan, there is one on iheartwags.com. Sometimes stores are excluded, but it doesn’t hurt to do some price checking.
Thanks for the link to the ad-scan. I’ll try that!
I absolutely LOVED the sarcasm when you were talking to the lady from Texas!!! Wow.
Thank you so much for this! It was so funny! I’m lucky that my Walgreens are very good but you can definately replace that with Rite Aid in my area. I called a regional manager who explained their coupon policy in a way that I’ve never experienced before. I think all stores and cashiers have this issue and random policies get applied. It is definately frustrating!
that was AWESOME, in a really sad and frustrating way, haha ! I even made my husband watch it and he thought the corporate call was terrible too! Can’t wait to hear part 3
hahaha you are great!!!!
I was a frequent shopper at Walgreens; however, after many coupon issues—I now go to CVS!!! The CVS at Jacksonville, IL is the best at taking coupons and being nice!!!
That is the BEST!!!! Love it!
and that’s why I love CVS…
This is hilarious! I worked at Walgreens fro 12 years and cannot believe how far they have fallen! I really haven’t shopped there much in the last eleven years since I quit but started again since I started couponing. I do prefer CVS, they have much better deals and it it’s so much easier to shop there ( no fillers and you can roll your ECB’s). The cashiers are nicer to deal with and they don’t seem to think the coupon savings are coming directly out of their pocket!
I can’t wait to hear more of the call to corporate! They always were clueless!
I shop at Rite Aid and have had great luck. We do have a Walgreens store in our town BUT I WILL NEVER shop there after watching this video.(s) I don’t need the headache!
So here is my question (to everyone who has commented and is reading comments) if you have a bad experience do you call the corporate office? I had a terrible one recently with Walmart and I fired off an email and ended up with a couple of calls from district managers etc and I felt like I made a small difference. I still hate Walmart and still would rather not shop there but I helped others who shop at that store. Why not do the same with Wag’s. I have called them several times and since then the 2 stores that I regularly visit rock. Now I have no issues at all and a couple of my regular cashiers will actually tell me about good deals that I might have missed. LOVE THAT
Yup. I’ve called Walgreens corporate 4 times now and been told a regional manager would call me and never heard a thing back.
Oh, that was just too funny! I’m holding (every pun intended) my breath in anticipation! 😀
Collin, that was totally hillarious! Walgreens is like a moving target. I don’t know which was funnier … the Missouri lady or Miss Corporate. Looking forward to tomorrow. Thanks so much for doing this.
All of the Wags in my area say that the coupons in the booklet are manufacturer coupons and they are also walgreens coupons so they cannot be combined with any other coupons. I can’t wait to see your next video. Keep up the good work!
I would love to hear the rules on the Walgreens register rewards. I get a different answer every time I shop at Walgreens! I’ve had so many problems with the RR not printing out and having to spend a lot of time at the register. I realize that you can’t use a RR to buy that same item again. I also realize that the number of coupons and RR being used can’t exceed the amount of items that you are purchasing. But there have been times that I’ve been told that if you use any RR in that transaction, new RR for completely different items will not print out. I know that is not true. To make it worse, the Register Rewards expire in a mere 2 weeks. I like CVS and Rite Aid a lot better these days!
Dear Mrs. June,
You are so terrific! Could you please, please do a video segment on Target as well? I was in Target for well over 30 minutes today trying to get Target to let me use the Target Vanish BOGO and the manufacturer’s BOGO internet printable coupon. They insisted that I had to buy 4 in order to get two free. Just when I confirmed twice in store with corporate that I was correct in getting both for free, I found out that the LOD had either a) ignored corp or b) misunderstood the corp rep to say exactly what she had been trying to tell me before about having to buy 4 to get 2 free. *sigh* My usually wonderful Target trips turned into the Target run from you know where today!
I would so love for you to send this to corporate so they can see how their own Customer Relations people are so untrained and have no knowledge of what their policies truly are. They should be ashamed of themselves.
That is SOOO funny what happened in the corporate phone call. It was almost like something you’d see in a sitcom. I hope that someone from corporate Walgreen’s watches this – it’s time to catch up to the times!!!
share this on Walgreen’s facebook page…….. a Walgreen’s employee is bound to see this, and maybe word will spread… let them “stumble” upon it themselves… wow!! i like Walgreen’s sales, but when it comes to customer service and easy transactions, CVS tops them all in my opinion…
This is absolutely hilarious. Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s video. Hope there’s a letter or something to corporate coming down the line. Kinda like the Walmart letter a few weeks back. 🙂
Such a great idea to do this!! This shows exactly what we go through employees and mangers that are unsure of the policy or if there is even a policy. I hope walgreens is watching! BRAVO Collin!!!
This is hilarious! I am more than willing to abide by the rules, I will play fair and do what WAGS asks. Unfortunately no two stores have the same rules, as has been made clear in your videos. My new conclusion: if corporate doesn’t have a rule book, then anything goes. If one store tells me one thing, I don’t see it as “working the system” if I go to another store and try the same transaction. No guilt here! I was really looking forward to the corporate call, and so far have been sorely disapointed! Hopefully we’ll get some better answers in the second half…
I love your blog, keep up the great work! =)
