Hey Colin! (i met you Friday!!) anywho, i have a question if you dont mind. ok, i just started couponing. Where i live NO ONE stacks coupons in my town. NO ONE doubles or triples coupons and using internet coupons is hit or miss. I live 50 miles away from the nearest Target, CVS or Walgreens so its been a rough ride for me. Well my 1st question is concerning stacking. I have read the policies of Walmart, Target, and CVS, well as i said its hit or miss a lot of the time, How do i educate these people tolet them know im not trying to do anything wrong? Alot of times when im at the register the cashier looks at me and often has an attitude about my use of coupons. Its frustrating! Im a mom of 3 and I have been trying to save where i can. Can you help me help THEM?? LOL
Print out their corporate policies. Walmart, Target & Cvs each have their own policy. That way the cashier/manager can see that you are indeed correct. I think there might be links to the policy on collin’s site. Maybe at the very bottom on tips for couponing. You can also google the store ex: target coupon policy…and it should come right up. I have mine printed and carry it with my coupons.
Just an FYI~ I’m in Oklahoma and the Target that is closest to me would not let me do the deal above scenario on the Covergirl Mascara/Eye Enhancer kit. They also would not let me use my $1 coupons for the .97 Tide. I asked the cashier why and she said she would ask the manager which she did, and the manager said if the computer marks it down to the price of the item then they could accept it..but there was no other way that they could do it. I was so aggravated when I left. I have never had that much trouble at Target before. I don’t know if they are changing their policy or what?
What else is odd is that I was able to get the Vaseline lotion and the Degree travel size items that were the same price as the Tide and I had $1 coupons for those too. When I looked at the receipt when I got home it automatically adjusted those down but not the Tide! So now I have got to make a trip back up to Target to return those 4 packages of trial size Tide that I paid 3.88 for ( that’s almost close to the price of a full bottle ( or maybe if it was on sale). I would have returned them then but my son called and he had locked his keys in his car so I had to go. It’s just frustrating going through all this hassle!! Sorry I just had to vent, and see if any of you have experienced this same problem.
Nope, their policy is still the same. It says right in their policy Coupon amount may be reduced if the face value of the coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item. Unfortunately, some managers are just uninformed.
To add..none of my coupons ever get marked down automatically. Depending on the cashier they either adjust the price down or hit accept…and accept the whole $1 amount.
One of the Super Target’s near me had the Pampers wipes on price cut for $1.97. My $2/1 coupon automatically adjusted down. I was actually relieved because it was a lot easier than dealing with beeps.

I been having the same problem with the Tide coupon too at Target and Walmart but the other travel size items go right trough weird I still have to try CVS.
I was actually going to say the same thing! A few times now I have used different $1 off Tide coupons and EVERY time they tell me “you know… you’re not really supposed to do this!” (In a really whiney voice)… but I play cute and innocent and use my age to my advantage, im 23, and they usually put it throughfor the $1, so I get overage!
I also has a coupon for $1.50 off 2 Purina Whiskers treat ( I think their name is like that or something) Well Target had these priced as $.94 each (BEST I’ve seen anywhere) which made them $.38 for 2! But the coupon kept ringing up as $0.00 off and the cashier was sooo annoyed with me, but I didnt care. What’s the point of using a coupon if it doesn’t take any money off!
I also got some 4 packs of batteries that were in the dollar spot for $.25 a package without using any sort of coupon! I was sooo excited about this!
Overall, frustrating, but well worth it trip to Target the other day!
I have stocked up on Tide Stain Release Duo Pacs this past weekend…two of my local stores have a “Target exclusive” 96 pak box of them marked on clearance to 9.98…stack the $1.50/1 Target coupon w/ the $3.00/1 larger sized MC…you pay 5.48 for 96! I bought a few boxes from each store and don’t think I’ll have to buy any for another year…lol…
The 10 pack was 3.99 in IL so they were $1.49 for me but the larger pack was marked on sale for the same price you mentioned.
Can someone help me? I’m new to this coupon thing and I was just wondering what “8/9 SS” means. I know(?) SS = smart source, but what does 8/9 mean?
8/9 is the date of the insert. So it would be the August 9th Smart Source insert. Hope that helps!

My local walmart CSM s refuse to read the coupons, tried the tide she wouldn’t even look at the coupon instead just looked at me all crazy and said “Its a given” you can’t buy something that is .97 and use a 1.00 off coupon……
My thought is if coupons are a form of payment why shouldn’t we get full credit for all of them? If my bill is 2.52 and I pay with 3.00 I would get change.
As long as we are following the coupon wording it should be our overage! Just because we are smart and know how to shop it is a constent fight?
I called 1800 walmart and the poor girl was clueless! She wrote a report and I’m suppose to have a call back with in 2 days but that was 4 days ago. Just wanted them to explain how to handle overage. she read me the 5 lines from the coupon policy, that I already had in my hand.

Has anyone else had a problem with Target adjusting coupons? I bought 2 trial size Pantene shampoos and used a 1.50 off coupon, and they adjusted it down to .97 cents so I feel like I wasted my coupon. I’d keep an eye on this on these “moneymaker” deals. It looks like if the coupon exceeds the price they will adjust your $ off.
Target’s coupon policy specifically states that they adjust down the value of coupons to the price of the product, so I would never expect to get coupon overage at Target.
Honestly, I never expect to get coupon overage anywhere. If I get some, I just consider it a pleasant bonus 🙂
Haven’t seemed to have a problem with that. Just the register doing that ! screen on some of my coupons because it doesn’t think coupon matches product? Or I didn’t buy product? Could never figure it out. Anyone else know? I end up pulling out my items to show the cashier and she hits the except button. Its just annoying because I give them like 25 coupons and about 8-10 need to be varified.. >:/
My Target has been adjusting my coupons down automatically. Just the other day I bought 2 Nivea bodywashes at $3.04 each. I had a $4 dollar off 2 Nivea body products coupon. When the cashier scanned the coupon, only $3.04 came off. I said something to the cashier and she looked at the coupon and called over a manager. The manager adjusted it to $4. Just be careful because the computer is adjusting coupons automatically and most cashiers do not even check the value or even look at the coupons.

Could there be a misprint on the date for the Bic pens coupon? It states 8/9SS, but we are only in July. That certainly doesn’t mean last years 8/9 SS, does it? I’d think those would all be expired.

Me either. I think its because I printed them out earlier and used them on mascara and got them for .97 ea. I think it disappears after you hit the limit. At least in my case. Could you have already printed your limit earlier?

I was at my Target yesterday in BIrmingham, AL and the $1 section at the front of the store had all been marked down 75%. I found Rayovac batteries AA and AAA 4 packs and C,D, and 9 volt 2 packs for a quarter a pack!
My Target (Moreno Valley, CA) had an unadvertised gift card deal for Always pads. Get a $5.00 gift card when you purchase two pads at $5.94 ea. I had (2) $1.00/1 Q’s so after the gc, they only cost me $2.44 each!

why aren’t any of the B1G1 coupons fromt eh sunday paper listed on here for use with target? i have had some people tell me that i can’t use 2 manufact. B1G1 coupons to get both products free but i have done this at target before with the SOBE life water. am i mistaken?
Yes, you can use 2 BOGO coupons and get the product for free. I recently got vanish drop-ins absolutley free using the 2 coupons.

I think it depends on the Target. I’ve done up to 4 of the same items and I stacked the coupons and never had any trouble. If they say anything, just make them ring it up separate, but you shouldn’t have any problems.

Follow the link at the bottom of this site for Target store guide. When you get to coupon policy, maybe try highlighting the text, and try printing it that way. i just printed it and mine printed out the policy? Hope you have luck!
I was in Target yesterday and tried to use the $3 off the Johnson & Johnson/Red Cross coupon for the travel kits and they refused to take my coupons. I even showed them their policy, but they looked at me like I had three heads. I have never been so humiliated. I think I’m emailing the corporation and tell them what happened. Anyone else try this?
I actually used 4 of these coupons and got 8 for free. I’m so surprised that they wouldn’t accept a manufacturers coupon. I think that emailing would be a good idea.
I just went to Target today and used my Champion C9 coupon. I found a really nice pair of workout shorts that were on clearance for 4.48 so I got them free! Be sure to dig in the clearance racks, as your Target may have some great finds too!

Unadvertised deal: My Target had the fusion pro-glide razor refill 3pks for 8.99 They’re usually much more expensive. If you received the advance razor, it came with a $3 off any refill pack coupon, making this 6 bucks. Still, it’s cheaper to just buy the razor over and over again for 0.97 at CVS, but if you run out of those coupons, this is an excellent deal at Target for refills.
Now venting time. I had the most clueless cashier today! She was so lethargic about everything, and when it came to the coupons…well, I had them all separated between TQs and MQs and put the BOGO ones on top to make the transaction easier. Well, when she scanned the BOGOs, of course, they said “item not found” and she just put them back in the stack. I thought, “Weird, why isn’t she selecting the free item from the screen?” The transaction ended, she put all my coupons in her drawer, and cashed me out. I used one of those flimsy register $5 gift cards too, and she asked “do you want this back?” after she scanned it. What? Why would I want that back? I spent the whole trip home pondering why someone would want one of those things back.
So I looked at the receipt while in the front of the store, and after scrutinizing it for a couple minutes (Target’s are kind of hard to understand), I realize that no, she most certainly did not give me any of my BOGO items for free. And this included that Bear Naked Granola stuff, which is 3.67. So I went over to customer service and explained that the cashier didn’t give me any of my items free, she just saw “item not found,” didn’t do anything about it, and KEPT THE COUPONS. The customer service person looked at the receipt for a good five minutes and said “ok, yeah, I don’t see them on here either. I’ll just take the amounts off” and she did and gave me the money back in cash. But I wasn’t satisfied there because I had to go through this rigamarole for something so simple. I’m sorry, Target always gives couponers such crap, when all they have to do is train their darn employees! So I said that I paid for the items and if Target tried to get the manufacturer to pay for the items as well, then that store would have been engaging incoupon fraud. I know I shouldn’t have went there, but some cashiers are so quick to throw the stupid “coupon fraud” phrase around, I figured I’d dish it right back at them in this justifiable instance! Gee whiz, that got me worked up. At least I got my money back.
