Awesome. I need to go there too!

  2. fran

    Way to go, Alli 🙂

  3. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

the last time i was there i got some 1.97 clearance items and they forgot to take off the security tags.

  4. Stephanie

Anyone know if their would be any adult clothing this cheap?

    • Craig

Yeah, whats the word on that?

      • Linda Hahn

I saw some ladies (well juniors) clothes for $1.97, $2.97, $3.97. Mostly summer stuff. I’m going back tonight because they had a ton of kid’s go backs and I’ll probably check the regular ladies section and the men’s section. The clearance racks for $1.97 (the lowest I saw) were kind of everywhere, like a couple racks here, a bin there, another rack by the register. So you’ll probably have to look around a bit. But I got 11 items for my daughter for $1.97 ea. That’s thrift store prices!!

  5. lynn @ MavenofSavin

OMG – I want to go!!! Thanks for the heads up!

  6. Crystal

This makes me want to leave work and head over to JCP right now!

  7. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

wonder if this includes jc penny outlet?? I have one of those close.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

just to update – I hit the outlet today, there were clearence items ranging from 1.99 and up,, nothing under. I did grab 2 outfits and got me a 15% off coupon, so maybe I’ll take a ride to the mall JC penny tomorrow 🙂

  8. Stephanie

I think I will go after work, well def. report back, but if anyone else gets there first, tell us what you find, please! : )

  9. Rita@Chi-Town Cheapskate

Oh Holy Hell! I’m gettin’ my shoes on now! I was just there to use the $10 off a $25 and was hoping they’d come down further in price!

OMG! they had the cutest girls clothes on clearance! and now I can totally justify buying more!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      I thought I had a 10 off of 25 but I can’t find it…..

      • Jen

It expired 8/28. I re-found mine last night and it was expired.

        • Tilla

if you have the parenting school years not early years magazine, there is a 10 off 25 that expires the 17th. i have 2 of them so i should score some awesome deals with the 15% survey coupon!

  10. Courtney Schexnayder

OMG, I LOVE JC Penny but there is NO way I can make it there today… ;( Good luck to everyone else! Hope you find some good items!!!

  11. michelle

Sorry to vary from topic, but does anyone know a gymboree coupon, other than the baby sale one, and where to find it. Maybe a magazine or something, They have a big sale and I thought I would try to save even more on my purchase:) Thanks!!

    • lacey

I think that parenting magazine has one, or at least in past issues it has

    • Alli H

The August Parents mag had a 20% off and today is the last day to use it. I don’t know if that helps….but I hit Gymboree after I went to JCPenny’s and used my coupon. 🙂 Good luck!

      • michelle

Thanks sooooo much!! The more I save -the more I get to shop!!:)

    • ayesha

yes there is coupon in parents mag (august issue)

    • Mitzi

Also, Gymboree has 30% off your “Fill A Bag” special through Labor Day. If you have a coupon you should be able to use that as well.

  12. Michelle

Oh yeah, this is what I need, lol. Now I need to go to Target, JCP and grocery shopping tonight, hahaha! I better get my chores done so the hubs will let me out 🙂

  13. MommySpendsLess

I was at a JCP about three weeks ago and they had a small table of summer clothes on clearance in the infant/toddler section. They were all Okie Dokie brand. I got my daughter a skirt, matching tank top and a cute tee shirt for $1.57 each. There wasn’t a great selection and I had trouble finding a top and matching bottom that were both the same size. I was thrilled with the deals because we were just passing through to use their elevator but it wouldn’t have been worth a special trip. I didn’t check the big kids departments though, and they may have put a lot more on sale by now.

  14. Kelsey

Is this just children or adults as well?

  15. heather

I was there this morning and I didn’t see anything for $0.97. I got some cute stuff for $2.37. Hope others of you have luck!

  16. lynnie_sue203

I called my JCP and they said they don’t have any kids clothes on sale that low. 🙁 I’m in Wilmington, NC

    • MommySpendsLess

Personally I’d check it out anyway. A lot of times the clerks don’t know and the person you spoke to may have just been referring to sale prices, not clearance prices.

    • Nona

totally random and not about jcp but I saw you said you lived in wilmington. I was wondering if you got the sunday paper on the 29th and got all your inserts in it? I bought several raleigh papers and a star news and the raleigh paper only had the smart source in it and the star news had the smart source and the redplum. neither had the p and g insert! did that happen to you too? this is not the first time this has happened to me, but i dont know who to contact! 🙁

  17. Hotcrner3b

I see baby shower gifts in my future!!! I know 4 people expecting, so this will be awesome!

  18. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

In the Parenting Magazone there is a 20% Coupon………….WAHOO!!!! your in store pirchase

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

sorry about the spelling…….Im runnign out the door but wanted to tell people!

      • IAMomma

I have a 20% off from Parenting, too! Yippee

  19. MoKeaton

Isn’t it sad that 16 articles of clothing regularly priced at JCPenney’s is $325? I hate that store. The sale is good, and I buy from them, but only clearance items. I just think it’s really sad that 16 articles of clothing, not even enough to make a school clothes wardrobe, is that expensive. 🙁

    • Stephanie

yeah more than $20 each and I know *I* can’t afford that! That’s why I stock up for my stepdaughter’s wardrobe for the next year and a half whenever i see rock bottom prices like this. (Childrens Place is best for that, in my opinion!)

      • Megan

When do the Childrens Place rock bottom prices happen usually? Thanks!

        • Stephanie

Towards the end of a season. Usually they have a way bigger selection online, in my experience.

          • Megan

            Thanks again!

          • april

i live close to a children’s place outlet and that is where the stores send their old stuff…so if you live near one, def go there! last winter they had a HUGE selection for about 1.97/a piece!

        • Laurie

I was at the Children’s Place today and they had toddler boys polos for $5, long sleeved henley tees for $5 and jeans for $10. Not rock bottom, but nice.

          • Kristina

They have their huge sales in January and July- usually around the third week of the month. In my experience, the stores have a lot more selection than online- plus, no shipping!

        • Rachel

I was at the Children’s Place Outlet (Jeffersonville, OH) Saturday, and all their infant & toddler knit separates were $1.99 each. For big kid stuff they had absolutely no good deals.

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The bigger sizes are usually more picked over but the outlets are definitely worth it! Especially if you have a little one. I’ve found that the outlet has a way better selection than online 🙂 Happy Shopping 🙂

        • Kendra

I was at the outlet mall (Children’s Place) back on august 10, 2010. It’s in Michigan City called Lighthouse I think. There clothes were on sale for $4.99 & under. I paid nothing over $1.99 for anything. So I got 8 things for under $15.00. It was mostly summer stuff thou. It’s great to go there at the end of August first part of fall. I just love this Children’s Place.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I guess I miss the point here. I think 16 items of clothing is a good deal. I only buy my children 2-3 outfits to start school with and buy later in the fall. I love JC Penny’s clothes. They wear well and don’t fade with washings. I never buy full price for kids clothes and I also sew a lot of our clothes so I look for retail clothing that will last (depending on the age of the child) which JC Penny usually does.

  20. Kristie

Ran over to my Penneys in Murfreesboro, TN. The boys’ clearance was minimal; there were more girls’ clothes. The cheapest item I found was $1.97. There were some boys’ things for $3.17. I left empty handed but am ok with that since we have enough clothes.

    • Beth

Thanks save me a trip 🙂

  21. shannon

🙁 no jcp around me. talking about an hour drive to the closest one.

  22. Heidi

WoW! but where does she live that she only pays 5% sales tax?!

    • Alli H

      I live in Richmond, VA

      • nonebetter

Ali which mall did you go to-Chesterfield Town Center?

        • Alli H

          Yes 🙂

          • Tilla

my sales tax is 9.5 in seattle..disgusting! but no income tax here, so i guess i shant complain to much

          • nonebetter

Great! Heading over as soon as I get off-thanks!

          • tina

we dont have any sales tax in OR! but they do take out lots of income tax so i guess were even that way 🙂

          • Julie

Has anyone else in Richmond been to Virginia Center Commons?

          • Ashley

Julie, I work at the VCC JcPenney’s. I’m not sure of any 97cent deals , but I’ve seen a LOT of really cheap clearance. There are TONS A TONS of clearance in childrens, 60-80% off.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Our sales tax is only 5.5% here in Kenosha, WI!!

      • B

        im in kenosha too!!

      • Sarah N

Glad sales taxes are low in WI, but we pay a lot in income taxes.

    • lou

      Idaho only has 5% tax

      • Laura F.

        Idaho’s tax is 6.5%

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      I was thinking the SAME thing…5% tax..hmmmm

      • Northeasterner

Tax free in DE! 😉 Yeah!!!!

        • Sabrina

6% in Michigan….I thought ours was high some of you guys have outrageous tax..making some of your free things not so free….lol:(

          • Kristy

Be glad y’all aren’t in Schaumburg, IL. 10% tax or more. Its ridiculous. Highest in the country, I think. Mine’s 7.5% here, but sometimes I’ll go up to Kenosha or Racine for the 5.5%. xD

          • Ashley S

Where at in Michigan? I am in Waterford MI

  23. Sonia

I wish I’d known this earlier today! I drove right past the mall but didn’t stop. Oh, well. I can’t drive 30 miles back to the closest JC Penney.

  24. Vonda

We don’t pay any sales tax on clothing in MN

  25. Chrissy

I went to the one in Eastgate OH last night…they had some juniors clearance for 1.97, but the kids and womens were 4.97

    • Elizabeth

Hi Chrissy! I’m originally from that area (Blanchester), but now live in GA thanks to the military.

    • Jaime T

thanks for saving me a drive!

  26. Elizabeth

I just went (I work at the mall) and the cheapest I saw was $1.97 (for a pair of Pooh swim trunks). I got a few whole outfits (shit and pant) for $3.17 each and a few super cute dresses for a friend who is expecting for $3.17 each! Still not a bad sale!

    • Kelly

LOL Elizabeth…your typo is totally cracking me up!!! 🙂

    • Rebecca

      shit and pants huh…sweet.

      • Tilla

    • Tina

OMGoodness — tooooo funny! That is TOTALLY something I would do….Colin, you need spellcheck on this thing — oh wait, it probably wouldn’t have noticed that was wrong…hahahahahahah 🙂

    • Linda C

      lolol!

    • Crystal

      Maybe it wasn’t a typo after all…HEHEHe

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      • Susan

    • Michelle

Hilarious! I just read this to my husband and I still can’t stop laughing!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The funny thing to me is that she’ll most likely never know she made such a hilarious typo! She sure had me LOL!!!

Hubby and I are watching the end of the phillies game and he thinks im nuts cause i was cracking up laughing with tears in my eye! everyone’s comments were making me laugh more! glad i missed whatever drama went on last week since i was on a mini vaca!

        • Jamie

My husband thinks I am weird too, I am cracking up and he asked how old am I? hahah i am glad i am not the only one acting young 😀

    • Jill W

My house is full of sleeping people and I couldn’t stop laughing- have tears streaming down my face and I am sure I woke a few of the kids up- totally worth it though!

    • cris

      made my day!!!

      • Judy

Did the comment get changed??? I’ve read it a few times and I don’t find anything funny….

  27. Christa

Boo! I’m sad, just left the huge JC penny in oklahoma city & they told me they never mark down to 97 cents! The lowest they will go around here is 80 percent off! I called several in Oklahoma & they all said the same thing! Don’t waste your time if you live here, just a heads up!

    • Shelly T.

Christa I am from the OKC area and I have purchased items at the Penn, MWC & Quail Springs stores at 90% off. What’s funny is each store will mark their clearance items completely different. I bought a skirt for my daughter at Quail for $2.97 and the same one was on clearance at MWC for $17.99. Quite a big difference in prices!!

  28. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Is it just infant sizes or all kids’ sizes?

  29. Jen

I checked Maumee and Toledo, OH stores and it’s a no go. Cheapest things on racks are $3.97. Bummer! I suggest you call ahead!

    • Stacy

Saved me a trip in Toledo – thanks a bunch!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’m in Toledo too! Was thinking about checking it out after work tomorrow but thanks for the heads up! I’ll tell my coworkers as well — they’re all in Maumee!

    • Sara E.

Thanks! I’m from Toledo/Perrysburg…..You saved me a trip and a headache!

    • Allison

Thanks! I’m in Toledo too and was going to run over in the morning, but see that’s not necessary now. 🙂

  30. Alli H

Darn! I am bummed that others around the US haven’t been able to score. 🙁 If you live in Richmond, head to Chesterfield Town Center. That’s where I went.

    • katie

Thanks for letting us know which mall. I’m having my husband check south park tonight while hes at work and will go to chesterfield town center tomorrow

  31. Leah

I found a couple shirts for $1.57, but that was the lowest price in Sheridan, WY. 🙁

  32. Irina

I just called JCP in Waterbury CT and they said they don’t have anything that low. The lowest was 1.97 in the infant department, and even then, it was only a couple of things, she said…

I almost ran out the door already, but decided to check first 😉

  33. Elise

Here is a link to site where you can print a survey coupon off for an additional 15% off your total purchase. Of course exclusions at the bottom, but I use them all the time on clearance clothes and have never had a problem in over 3 years. I print multiples copies and use on in each department I check out in!!

    https://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=708251

  34. Angela

Are you all scanning your items, because I purchased a t-shirt for my daughter on Saturday that was priced @$3.19, but it rang up at $1.57. I would suggest you scan the items because the price tags may not show the lowest prices.

    • L. H

Your lucky I had them price check several items, but all rang up at the clearanced price on the pink tag and they were like 4.97 and up. So no go in Oklahoma 🙁

  35. Rachael

AWESOME!!! I might be heading there tonight!!!

  36. gima

I just got back from JCP and there was not much for .97 but I did get a lot of stuff for 3.97.

  37. Kristina

I called Penny’s at the Victoria Gardens in Ca. The lady in the children’s department said they had a lot of clearance ranging from $2.97-$10. I’ll update if I go tonight. If anyone ends up over there i’d love to hear about what you found!!

  38. jen

Make sure to sign up for there text messages I get alot of good coupons via text. I would love to go but I am making myself wait till I go this weekend to buy a homecoming dress then I will check to see what is left. I want 5%sales tax ours is 10% in Alabama

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

WOW 10%. That’s almost as bad as Chicago’s.

      • Sabrina

wow 10 % how do you live?!?!?!?!….lol I cry about our 6% we have family in Alabama and they always wonder how I get everything cheaper than them….now we know!!!

        • Nicole

It’s possible that the states with higher sales tax don’t have any income tax. (i.e. Florida)

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

California has a Ridiculous sales tax of 10 % in los Angeles. We also have a ridiculous income tax . I dont even like to think about how much money the government takes from me!!!

  39. Dolls

Redding, CA only had a few $2.97….but no $.97 that we found…for all those out there finding the $.97, shop it up for me! ♥

    • Sarah

Good to know, I almost ran out the door!

  40. Amy

Just got back from Penney’s…now that we live in a very rural area, I had to drive 20 miles to get to one…and I found not one thing for .97…but QUITE a few things for my son who will be in size 5/6 next summer…all for about 1.97 to 2.97. I got him 5 pair of shorts for $14, so I thought that was a pretty good deal! I even went to TCP at the Mall—and OMG, what a difference in pricing compared to the Outlet…I used to live in Metro Detroit, and we had an outlet out in Auburn Hills…I *LOVED* that store, and I miss it!! I did get a few hair things for my daughter for .99 and 2 pair of full length leggings for .99 (Marked down from $9,50–WOO HOOO) and a pair of sunglasses for my daughter as well (she’s on her 3rd pair this summer–LOL) for .99….but as for clothing, they had NOTHING that was a great price in my opinion…when I’m back home in the Detroit area…I will make it a point to go back to the TCP Outlet…I usually buy shirts and shorts for BOTH of my kids for $1.97 a piece! Thanks for the heads up, though…I still feel I scored a good deal!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes, the Childrens Place at Auburn Hills is great!! i live just a few miles away and go there every time I’m at Great Lakes Crossing. You’re bound to find something for a great price.

      • Sabrina

i too love that store at great lakes crossing plus it seems they always havr a 15% off coupon too!!!

  41. Heather

Darn I still havent signed up for those text coupons! Should have done that before my trip out today. No .97 sales for us here in upstate NY. I did still get some elmo ts in size 2T for my little one, 4.97 each. Thats big spending for us on Ts for him but he loves elmo so much I couldnt resist. I also got two pairs of womens pants, one dress pant and one capri, each 8.77. No tag on the capri so she said she could just give it to me for the same price as the pant if I was ok with that. I should have looked into other capris for a comparison price but its ok. Also snagged a couple tops under 5 bucks. Pretty good deal but still wish I had a coupon.

  42. hthyng

Wow I’m going to have to head there tomorrow since we’re military and don’t get paid till midnight EST…which is nice here because we get paid at 10pm in CO!

  43. Tamara

When my husband got home we did run to Jcpenny and we did not see anything that was under $3.00

  44. Lydia R.

In San Antonio, Texas, I scored some shirts for my husband for $2.97, shoes for my daughter $5.97 (not a spectacular deal but she desperately needed them), cute flip flops for $3.97, a shirt for my daughter 4T $1.97, capri pants/jeans for me for $5.97 and work shirts for my husband for $5.97. Slim pickings on the $1.97 items.

    • Melissa

Lydia-Which JCP? I was just about to ask if anyone in TX found anything.

      • maria

im in the woodlands texas, ill be checking tommorow to see if they have anything! hopefully they have some nice womans jeans and shirts for less than three dollar a piece (i try to stick around three dollars because i dont NEED more clothes…but more is better right?!) 😉

      • Lydia R.

I went to the JCP at the Rim. Where are you?

  45. laura perry

clackamas town center in oregon doesn’t have the sale that low. 3.99 is about the cheapest

    • Tiffany

Thanks saved me a trip ;0)

  46. nonebetter

Ok headed out to the same JCP as Alli and the pickings were slim, there seemed to be an abundance of boy stuff-which of course I didn’t need lol. I was able to grab 2 shirts for my daughter & 2 gifts(a bib and a onesie) for a friend who is expecting-total $5.04 and saved over $40, I thought about the fact that those 4 items should NOT have been a total of $40 something dollars so thanks for the info .

  47. laura

Nothing remotely that cheap at our JCP. Most of it was pretty picked over too. Darn!

  48. Nicole

Des Moines JCP wasn’t great, but if you need some things for next summer- make a trip.

  49. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. My JCP had great deals I got my little girl three dresses, shirt and shorts. My son two t-shirts and I only spent $14.76. I saved $142.19. I also got three shirts and a bra and spent $17.01 and saved $60.10.

Collin, thanks for the heads up. Got some really cute clothes.

  50. Christina R

We are some SERIOUS couponers if we are worried about shirts that are still ringing up at $3!! So glad this site is here!!

    • MommySpendsLess

LOL How true! All this couponing has definitely warped my sense of money. I think the last time I went to the nearest shopping center, I spent more on tolls getting there than I did on one of my daughter’s shirts!
