Ok they had none at both Targets near my home. 🙁 Bummer, BUT the regular Tag JR was only $30 so using both of those coupons I only spent $15, so that’s half off! My daughter is getting the regular tag one for Christmas and I figured I could get this one for my two year old son since this way they won’t fight over them and they will have their “own” to play with together. 🙂 Either way I may not have found the one for five but I still got a good deal. Thanks Colin!
Great job….I think that’s still a great deal!
I had the same deal here. Frustrated at first couldn’t find that, but still an awesome gift! Got a free book that was posted a while back… so for two books and the tag, jr. paid $15.00. Thankful for these deals 🙂
They had several at my store in Lexington, KY, but they were still 27.98 when I scanned them. I put them back and will look again later this week to see if they’ve dropped. I don’t want to pay more than the $5 as it wasn’t something I HAD to have. 🙂
Totally sold at in Davenport, IA. Bummer! Would have loved to get this for my two year old.
Whoops I meant sold out.
I found 3 today 🙂 They were on clearance for 27.98 so I bought them for only 12.98! Thanks so much my son will love it!!
The Simpsonville, SC Target has about 6 left. They are on an endcap in the music equipment section. They were only marked down to $27.98, so $12.98 after the coupons. That’s still 70% off!!! Great deal. Thanks Colin !
We grabbed two today (Redlands, CA), one for each kid.
By the way my husband found $5/1 MQ peelies on the Hasbro Buzz Lightyear Space Shooter. There is a Target Q on the website (and in the Christmas coupon booklet) for $5. That brings the price down to a nice amount: $5.09 if you find the peelie! 🙂 I was quite proud of my husband for knowing his coupons! ♥
I live in Boney Lake, WA and I GOT THE LAST TWO! However, I got an even better deal, FREE!!!
I went in to purchase HP ink cartridges and they have a sale and you also got a $10.00 gift card w/purchase. I bought the ink carts, and then bought bought two of the Tag’s. They were on clearance for $19.98, plus the two coupons equal $15.00 off = $4.98 each x2. I used the $10.00 gift card and got them for FREE!
Nice job!! I got the last one here in Lake Stevens, WA. I, too, scored the $10 gift card from the ink promo, but I’m keeping it for later!
I found the last one in my target, marked down to 27.98. When I got to the register the cashier wouldn’t let me use the $10 coupon because she said it couldn’t be used for Tag JR. Boo. Might send my husband back in the morning to see if he has more luck.
It was the same price for me and the cashier pushed the $10 Q through for me. She didn’t give a hard time at all. Maybe a different person will push it through if you try again tomorrow.
Had the same problem wouldn’t let me use it on a clearance item. Very mad 🙁
If you get the toy story clearance will that reader thing work with other jr tag books or only toy story? Does anyone know? Thanks
itwill read any tag junior book
none in lakewood, wa 🙁 Would have been great for my 3 grandchildren who are 2, 2, and 3
Yep, worked in KC. Sent my DD to pick one up for her “nanny boys” (she is a nanny for a family). She was so excited to get something they would love for $5, and her employer couldn’t believe she found it so cheap!
Bonus points for you Collin.
Awesome!
I bought it yesterday on clearance – saw this ad went back returned it and grabbed the LAST one on clearance and got it for % !!! Also printed the Manufacture coupon for $5 off and got the other leap frog reader for my older son for 25 instead of 40!!
$5 Dollars sorry!!!!
ATLANTA: Hi all! So, we just returned from our local Target…there were 4/5 left on the shelf priced @ $19.98, we only purchased one. The cashier had to override the $10 coupon, only to second guess herself and called management over – we were in for a treat!
She, ‘floor manager’, declined the store coupon, voided the transaction and said we could still purchase but w/out the discount (of the store coupon). I politely asked why, she fumbled through an answer. So, I asked to speak w/the store manager – she said she wouldn’t interrupt him…because he was on a conference…(her words).
In the end, she returned w/coupons and toy and said , “This ONE time, but not again.” Oh! And that ‘he’ said they are NO LONGER taking internet coupons (in a very nasty tone). I pulled out copy of policy, she said it didn’t matter, they WILL NOT accept them any more.
I thanked her for her time and politely asked her to write down the name of the store manager who’s changed the coupon rules for his store so I may inform corporate office.
People, sadly we sharp savers will run into this type of attitude here and there but I encourage you to keep on keeping on. Most people would have either 1) paid and moved along or 2) walked away empty handed. Hang tough.
You handled it all well I think. You’re right every time we go to find a good deal, not every time will be easy. Got to keep trying!
Ugh this reminds of me my latest experience at my Target. I went in with a few free manu coupons (smuckers and Barilla Pasta) and the cashier gave me such a hard time. She was so rude and flat out said in a nasty tone that I HAD to pay for something! If I didn’t have the screaming headache I had I would’ve complained to CS but instead I left! People have some nerve!
Did you got the Lenox Tarhey (Atlanta?) they are the WORST about coupons – ALL kinds of coupons, internet, target, and even ones we clip straight from the paper. I always have issues with them with coupons – I have called and complained to corporate too. Normally I only have one or two coupons in the transaction – I don’t dare try to use more than that they may have a heart attack.
Had the same issue and I was upset I was shaking. I only had one they tried to tell me that they did not accept both store and manu. coupons… i went back later that night and had no trouble AT ALL!!! i even called and spoke to the “manager” yea right he was totally no help they gave me guest relations number but didnt inform me that they were closed. Made me feel so dumb and embarrased!!!
this was target johnson ferry in marietta. BTW they have like 10 of these things on clearance marked @19.98 the one on cobb parkway had a few but they hadnt been marked down yet. I only bought one!
I scored one tonight for $4.98! This will make a great gift for one of my nephews 🙂
I have a question, please reply by email if possible. The picture you have is of a Tag JUNIOR, the coupons on the Target website and the other $5 MFC both say and have pictures of the regular Tag for ages 4-8. Will those coupons work for the Tag Jr?
Thanks
While reading through the comments I noticed that a lot of people said their cashiers had to push the coupons though… maybe it’s not meant for the JR but no one really cares? I don’t know. I’d say give it a try and see what happens. Good luck.
My cashier didn’t have to push the coupons through. i purchased the Tag Jr and Tag. Used 2 Target $10 Qs and 2 MC Qs from leap frog. I got the Toy Story Tag (for 4-8) since it was the better deal. Give it a try…..
Even if your cashier does “push it through” It’s not how the coupon was intended to be used. So, you’re basically creating the problems you are having at Target by illegally misusing coupons. Hence Target’s negative attitude towards couponers and you’re stealing from the manufacturer. Collin I love your deals, but I don’t think you should have ever made this post as the coupons don’t match the intended items. You have a lot of power and you should take the high road.
I think that if they did NOT want to include the Tag Jr. system they would have said EXCLUDES TAG JR. but it didn’t, so no I don’t think there is anything wrong or illegal about using the coupons. Also, the MFR coupon does not beep and it also says Tag system. I understand you are upset because you haven’t been lucky on this one (assuming you are the same Lois posting all the other negative comments), but I don’t think it is fair that we have to be subject to the negativity.
Turboturtle I completely agree the same wording on the manu is on the Target coupon. Lois if you didn’t get one I suggest you keep looking or in this case you don’t think that the coupons don’t match the items keep moving. Why are reading comments if you aren’t even interested? BTW I called Target and they wanted the coupon to beep so you don’t use it on the books only since they are $9.99.
No Lois, YOU Should take the High Road! And by the way, Thanks for not doing these deals as it saves them for those of us who want them.
Just returned from my Target, got the LAST one and paid $5.37 with tax included! So excited! Now I just have to decide who to give it to! 🙂 Thanks so much for the tip!!! Might try another Target tomorrow!
I was able to score this deal at my local Super Target in AZ. It was marked $19.98 and there was one left. The $10 beeped but my cashier pushed it through and the $5 worked no problem!!
I checked the Target in Cleveland, TN: $34.98
It worked for me today but BOTH coupons beeped and the cashier had to push them through. I can’t wait to give out for Christmas. Thanks!
Nothing but regular price in Arnold MO 🙁
I checked two stores here in Vancouver, WA and they are clearanced to $27.98, still a fantastic deal at $12-ish since the regular price is $39.99. But, as another person said, not good enough for me on something I don’t LOVE. Quick question for those of you with them, can the Tag Jr pointer or books be used with the regular Tag stuff? I’d hate to buy a Jr for my tot, only to have it not work for the other books as she gets older.
Tag Jr. will NOT work with Tag books only Tag Jr. Bummer, huh?
we got my son his tag reader during the last after christmas clearance sales in january. So don’t worry too much about this deal.
A good point to make here – the TAG reader reads BOTH Tag and TagJR books. my 2 year old has done fine with the regular tag since his 2nd birthday – he LOVES reading. I might try getting this for my niece, but I am okay if I miss out on it because I know more deals will come around.
Just went to Target, bought the Toy Story 3 Tag (not jr), On sale 5.50 dollars off, used one online coupon, one target coupon and the 5 off. Org. 44.99
GOT IT FOR 14.49! AWESOME DEAL on the regular tag!
here bay area of CA(SFO), didn’t have the deal, only $3 off 32.99 is $29.99. also, I checked the coupon of the leapfrog, said may not combine with other coupon…
I live in Sunnyvale and it worked here.
Pleasanton, CA marked down to $27.98 and both coupons went through without any problems. I bought the last one and paid $12.98 + tax. Unfortunately no price adjustments can be made on clearance items if price drops in two weeks per customer service. Not as good as others but still an AWESOME price for a tag jr reader with a book!
my target gave me a problem doing it. it was marked down to 27.98 and i used the 5 off and paid 25 with tax. they were telling me i could not use it on tag jr. I then took my receipt to another target to try again and told them I found the 10 off when I got home and they gave me the 10 back! So glad I got the deal. Happy paying 15, wish it were cheaper though!! 😉
They were all gone at my Target in OK!
I found one in the clearance section of my Target for $20, so about $5 after the coupons! Yay! My cashier also had to push the coupon through, and I can’t really understand why they are beeping. It states that it’s for a Tag system, and that’s exactly what it is!
I LOVE this deal. At the Target I went to it was on clearance for only $9.98 so I got it for FREE with the $10 off Target coupon. Thanks for pointing out such a great deal!!!!!!! 🙂
I got one for 12.98! Woohoo. My son is going to love it!
OMG! do i have a story. went to Target on Litchfield in Avondale, AZ. Found the last 2 at the same time some lady picked 1 up and left. 1 in my cart went to checkout. I see the lady with No Tag jr. i kindly ask her about it. So i go find it. Yea! Now to Checkout. Cashier only took off the 2 $5. Said it wouldnt work. I asked him like 4 time r u sure. “Cant u just push that button?” Finally he said ill take u to the front to ask the higher up. WooHoo! got 2 for $10.94 OOP.
I was not able to find this one on sale in my store (Barboursville, WV). However, I did purchase a regular price one for my almost 3 year old, as we got the free book offered a while back so was prepared to pay full price. I took the $5.00 manu coupon that was sent with the free book, as well as the $10.00 Target coupon mailed in a recent toy mailer. The initial cashier refused to take the $10.00 Target coupon saying it was specifically for the TAG system (though I pointed it out that it did not say only for that), so I said okay and paid $25.00 for it. Then I kindly walked to customer service and explained that I was sad there was a coupon for Tag and not Tag, Jr. since Tag is for older kids and wouldn’t be useful for my son. She understood and said let me try it, and it went through and I got $10.00 back! I told my husband that persistence pays off 🙂
I went to Target and found this deal before you posted it. I had the guy in electronis try to ring it up with both coupons and it would not work! I was bummed bc the leap frog junior tag system has the board books that do not tear. Oh well, maybe I will try it at a different Target tomorrow.
I meant electronics
I’m totally bummed. I really want to check out the two targets near me, but I don’t get paid until Tuesday. By then these will be looooong gone (assuming they aren’t already). Oh well, crongrats to everyone else who was able to snag some. Hopefully I can get in on the next deal like this.
I went to my store in Tigard or. And I asked an employee to help me find it, there are 4 left. I said thank you and that while it wasn’t 15.00 like I had saw online that it was still a good deal and she said if I checked out with her she would honor the 15.00 price and I tld her that I had coupons so that it was ok and she still did it. I totally lucked out. I got tue tag it and 2 next generation spray cleaners for less than 7$! Thanks!
As I’m reading the comments I see a lot of cashiers have to “push the coupons through” because It’s not the product the coupon was intended to be used on. So, you’re basically creating the problems you are having at Target by illegally misusing coupons. Hence Target’s negative attitude towards couponers and you’re stealing from the manufacturer.
Collin, I love your deals, but I don’t think you should have ever made this post as the coupons don’t match the intended items. You have a lot of power and YOU should take the high road before you send your readers out on a feeding frenzy and show them how to rob the system by misusing coupons.
It’ no wonder you’re in a little bit of hot water. A good deal is only a good deal if it’s an honest deal. Boo me if you want ladies, but the people who say “boo” are the reason these great coupons will come to an end. Just a thought 🙂
Since both of the coupons specifically say TAG product, and this is a TAG Jr. this is the intended product. Anything that says TAG is intended on it . There is nothing illegial. If the stores don’t want coupons to be used on sale or clearance items/ they should post that in the policy. Othwise, when it states TAG I will use it on a TAG to get the best deal whenever I can. I’m also shocked that you would blame/accuse Colin of doing anything wrong/illegal.
Your post was very upsetting to me and probably others too.
If you are unhappy with a deal, just don’t choose to use the coupons in that manner for that deal. Please don’t accuse Colin. She does such wonderful things to help all of us save money everyday!
Michele
I agree with Michele. The coupons DO NOT EXCLUDE the Jr system, and if that was their intent they would have put that on the coupons. There is nothing wrong or illegal with using the coupons. Enough is enough. Please leave Collin alone and the negativity at the door. Thank you Collin for everything!
Lois go follow another website. btw everyone I am dedicating the song “Hate on Me” by Jill Scott for all the Lois out there that hate the game and haven’t figured it out. Its on youtube lol!
Collin listen to it brush your shoulders off for every one that hates you, you have 10 that LOVE You! (me included!)
I agree with everyone else here. Every time I go to Target almost all my coupons beep and they have to push them through. It’s not because I’m using them on things I shouldn’t be using them for, it’s because Target is not the most coupon friendly store out there. As long as you are not blatantly using the wrong coupon on items there is no problem with a cashier pushing a coupon through for you. It is meant for that item, the system just isn’t functioning the way it should be.
I soooo agree Icemommy! All she does is try to start crap!
Lois Two Words for you ~ GO AWAY!!
WOW, what a jerk you are. She was just making a good point and you have to sound like a 4 year old bully at the playground.
Almost everytime I use a coupon @ target they have to push it thru and I get exactly whats pictured… that doesnt mean its fraudulent 1st of all and 2nd of this seems to be a YMMV deal and you may not be able to get it.. Its not our nor collin’s fault that TARGET offered a $10.00 off coupon and TAG offered a $5.00 off and then TARGET MARKED IT ON CLEARANCE!!! there were so many different tag products in the store that you could have combined this with any of them… If you dont like the deal HELLOO DONT USE IT!!! its that simple!!! Its your decision. You are acting like she is made them do and you are acting like target isnt making money. most of the comments show people buying more that just the tag jr. ITS CALLED MARKETING!! these coupons will not go away because traffic to target would stop… #justsayin
I started working my first day as a seasonal Target Team Member cashiering this last week. I was fortunate enough on my first night of training to have another fellow Team member come to my register to ring up her THREE carts worth of items she was purchasing and to top it off, she had coupons for almost every single item in her carts as well as gift cards, Team Member discount and to top it all off, a 10% redcard discount which she had been saving for a moment like that. There were MANY coupons in her order that I know (as a fellow couponer) were legitimate and the REGISTER ITSELF questioned the coupon as being an item she actually bought and I knew for a fact she had purchased the exact item(s) the coupon specified so I had to override the coupon. She saved herself over $350 on her items that night!
I don’t believe Collin, in any way, shape or form, advocates “cheating the system” by suggesting you use coupons incorrectly or fraudulently. If that were the case, don’t you think she or her site would be in some kind of trouble with someone of authority for coupon fraud?! In my opinion if a coupon does not specifically state that it excludes certain items it manufactures, then it can be legitimately used for something such as Collin is posting and just because a register “beeps” or rejects the coupon does not mean it is fraudulently being used either.
This business of hand-slapping Colin for providing links to a deal is outrageous. If you don’t want to participate, then don’t, but to intimate that Colin is gaming the coupon system is out of line! Consider for a moment, LOIS, just who it is you are “protecting” here. Poor little Target. The same poor little Target that, if they can get away with it, will CHEAT their customer out of coupon money they collect from the manufacturer. Case in point. I made a purchase at Target and used a $5 off coupon which they then collected from the manu. I had purchased the wrong item, returned it and exchanged for the correct item, and they flatly refused to refund (as in take off the purchase price) the $5 for the coupon which had been turned in to them and for which they had collected $5. They refused to give me the $5. So if you want accuse anyone of theft here, I would suggest you accuse the appropriate party, and that would be Target. They FLATLY REFUSE to train their customer service employees on basic Coupon 101 – what is a coupon, how is it used, how do we properly refund a coupon in the case of an exchange, etc.
LOIS, YOUR IRE IS MISPLACED.
If I remember right some people used this for other tag products not just the tag reading system. It didn’t exclude any tag product or say only for use with regular tag reading system. I’ve been following Colin’s blog for only a month or two now, but she has NEVER intently had us use a coupon in an illegal form. If there IS a deal she posts and it turns out bad or not the way it was suppose to, she makes a post and apologizes. Your comment isn’t and wasn’t necessary.
I admit, I get frustrated when I read stories about people creating 20 email accounts to take advantage of an online deal when it specifically says One Per Household. When people are greedy and try to cheat the system it ruins it for everyone. That said, I would never blame Collin for her irresponsible readers. She puts out the info and trusts that people will do the right thing.
As far as this Target deal goes, I have to respectfully disagree. Target is famous for what they refer to as “Glitches” in their computer system re: coupons that customers have every right to be using. There was JUST a post a few weeks ago about Target employees having to “push through” valid coupons. If nothing in the language of a coupon states to the contrary, then based on Targets history with inaccaruate computer settings, I’m far more likely to believe these are being accepted based on a technical mistake, not employees feeling bullied by a customer.
I think the Tag/Tag Jr. relationship is like the saying that “every square is a rectangle but not every rectangle is a square.” Personally, I view the Tag Jr. as a specific kind of Tag reader, just like they have different colors and different packages available. However if a coupon was released for the Tag Jr. (or its books) , I don’t think I would feel comfortable using it on the regular Tag version because the coupon was clearly for the more specific product.
I can’t seem to find where to print the manufacturers coupon. Help!!!!
Julie, I had to try the link 4 times before it popped up. If it takes you directly to the website, try the link again.
I got it to work
these coupons are for the TAG reading system not the TAG JR i dnt think its right to be using the coupons on this item….just saying….
The coupons do not Exclude the Jr system. Companies will put exclusions on the coupons if it is not intended for specific products. Tag jr. is still a Tag system…just saying.
I purchased the Tag Jr (but not the Toy Story version) and paid $7. Awesome deal! Thanks Collin! Metro Detroit Area MI
I purchased the tag learn to read @$19.99 and the toy story tag junior for $19.98 a tag book for $10.00 and Fin fin friends $19.99 used 50% of coupon made that $9.99.I used 3/$10.00 coupons and 3/$5.00 coupons. And got all four things for $15.00 plus tax. I saved $59.00.
Awesome!!!
I just bought 2 at my store in Cape Coral, FL!!! I am so excited..thank you!!!
i miss CAPE CORAL!!!! Moved 2 yrs ago to NC.
Did Target remove the $10 coupon from their sight? I can’t find it anywhere.
Try it again. Some people are having problems with it coming up. Also you can get that coupon in Targets Toy coupon book that is located in the toy section at their store. I got a Tag Jr yesterday for 5 dollars. I am sooooo excited for my daughter to have this for Christmas. She is going to love it. Thank you thank you Collin!!!!! You have helped my family so much saving money.
you can find the coupon in Target in a little stand in the toy department. It has all the coupons from their site inside.
I really want to get two of these, but can’t find them at any of my local targets. Would anyone be able to work the deal for me? Email me at susancapozza@yahoo.com.
Turboturtle_8 thanks for explaining that! I think you said it well! 🙂 I can’t believe how mean people can get with Collin that’s just not right. Craziness.
Thank you, I just couldn’t stand to see her being bash for nothing anymore.
*bashed*
Des moines, ia at Merle Hay Mall has 3 left!!!
we got three of them! also, if u get a good cashier i was able to get a leapfrog scout reading book that is 13.99 for 3.99 with the 10 dollar off coupon. even though the coupon is for the TAG readers.. some cashiers dont care. worse case senario you can play dumb and not get the item.
Sucks when people intentionally “play dumb” and use coupons KNOWINGLY for things they aren’t intended. Then the stores crack down and stop offering such great deals and the rest of us suffer.
I totally agree with you. Companies don’t pull coupons because people are getting good deals, they are well aware of the sales and coupons currently out. They pull them because people take advantage of them and misuse them.
Prepare for some comments about that…
I just wanted to say a lot of people have been upset that everyone is using the wrong coupon because the cashiers are having to “push” the coupon through but Target registers are really finicky. I have to have them “push” coupons all the time and I am buy exactly what is on the coupon. I had a lot of trouble using the Kraft $5/5 coupons there. They always had to be pushed through so just because it beeps doesn’t necessarily mean you are doing anything wrong.
not just that but did some of the haters on here remember the GLITCH??? I hope they didn’t stop and tell the cashier that the coupon scan for the wrong amount and have them ‘push’ it thru for the right amount.
got to Target at 8 a.m. found the last one got it for $4.98.Yee Ha
If anybody doesn’t need the Tag Jr, I would be willing to buy it for a little more than the $4.98 plus shipping. I have two 2 year olds and we can’t find ours anywhere in our house and have tons of books, but can’t use them. I tried both of my Targets and they didn’t have them and had my Target order cancelled when they had them on really cheap last time.
Thanks, Jennifer
BFads.net has posted Target’s Black Friday ad and Target will have the Leapfrog Tag Reading System, normally priced at $39.99 on sale for $24.99. Target’s web coupons are only good through 11/24 so I suggest this if the Tag Jr you’re looking for is not available: Take the both the Target Q and the Manufacturer Q to Target anytime between now and the 24th and buy it at full price but use both coupons. Return to Target on either November 26th or 27th and go to customer service and have them do a price adjustment for it since it is well within their 2 week price adjustment period and you will receive the difference back for the full price and the sale price. They WILL NOT do this for doorbuster items, but they will do it for all the other two day sale items and without hassle. I have done this for the last 3 years and gotten a lot of my Christmas shopping done this way and don’t have to fight all the crazy Black Friday crowds either. Target has been exceptional on this policy for me, Best Buy on the other hand, not at all. In the past, their flyers specifically state price adjustments can’t be made.
Sounds like a great idea! I just saw that in their Black Friday ad and was checking the exp dates on the q’s… hadn’t thought of doing this. Thanks for the idea!
Yeah most stores can’t offer this because they are going to be stormed that weekend and will not have the time to do price adjustments. It makes it easier for everyone when they don’t because it prevents people from clearing out all our stock before hand and then we don’t have to deal with angry customers because we have no product because everyone just buys before and comes back on black Friday with their receipt.
I have had many customers tell me they’d rather pay a little more and not have to deal with crazy crowds on Black Friday than save the couple bucks they’d save if they waited until then.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable that a lot of stores do not price adjust, especially Best Buy. The stuff that goes on sale on Black Friday at Best Buy is not usually the top of the line stuff that everybody is buying. I know in their home theater department they offer a thirty day price match guarantee (excepting Black Friday) so even if it does go on sale on Black friday you still have a whole month to allow it to go cheaper and get it adjusted.
