  I have one that I have had for years. My kids played with it a lot, I would recommend it. Definitely worth $13.21, but keep in mind you have to buy books for it.

   I think it got a good rating on Amazon. I found this late last night, but I am not getting it b/c the books/cartridges seem to be pretty high in my opinion. Just something some might want to think about.

   I got one. My soon to be three year old will love this for our long trip coming up. Thank you so much, we had one simular a few years back, but after four other kids it died last year. So this is perfect timing.

   I am interested in buying it too but am debating on it because the reviews say that it is a discontinued item and this is only for the pad itself not the books or anything else. I’m assuming that’s true? So you would need to buy the other items to go with it in order to use it?

  We have our leap pad from when our 11 yr old was younger, and we just grabbed another on craig’s list for $20 so our twin three yr olds can share! My mom grabbed a bunch of books on ebay for next to nothing, they are still out there – just remember you need the book AND cartridge for it to work! I highly recommend these to anyone interested, it really helped our oldest and our twins love it!

   I didn’t know they still sold these. If it’s the same thing I’m thinking of, they were really popular 5-7 years ago. We have them and love them. Maybe look on ebay for books?

   Great toy but is useless if you don’t have the books for it. I looked on LeapFrog’s site and they do not have books for this anymore. I checked on E-bay and searched “Leapfrog leappad” and found several results. If you plan to do this, be careful to purchase books for this model of Leap Pad. There was a different model available a few years ago (my kids had it & LOVED it) and the books for it will not fit this model. So, in other words, this is a great deal and a great toy that your kids will enjoy as long as you are able to get the books for it 🙂

  it says in the description : The Read & Write LeapPad learning system works with ALL LeapPad books and cartridges, including LeapPad Plus Writing, Quantum LeapPad and LeapPad. So I would assume it DOES work with those books. It looks very similar to the books we have from garage sales….

   I have one of these and it is impossible to find books and cartriges for it, all the stores offer is the new TAG books.

    I bought one for $13.21 and signed up for the month free of Prime Amazon for the free shipping. I have seen the books for this at Best Buy and Target…sales at certain times. My daughter, who turns 4 this year, stops to look at them everytime we see them she will be so excited about this!!

    When looking for the books, do I search Leappad books? Or leappad read & write books?This is all new to me.

    I bought the Quantum Leap Pad for Christmas present for my step son. He likes it, I got new & used books with cartridges on both Ebay and Amazon for cheap. If you are buying used make sure you check the description for the condition of it, and you need both the book and cartridge for it to work!

  Thanks for that info. I am going to wait till it comes in and hopefully it will give me some clue as to what I need. Can’t help but think it’s a good deal. My MIL frequents yard sales so could probably get find what we need.
