my target wouldn’t let me use the $1 Off Tostitos Dip with 2 Tostitos Chips Target store coupon. they said you can’t use a store cpn on something that is already free.
I’ve never been able to use a Target coupon on an item that’s free from a store promo. I’ve used a manufacturer coupon on a free item without problems. It’s a different scenario than using a BOGO coupon and a 1.00/1 coupon together because neither item is free because of a store promo. The dip actually rings up free at the register, it doesn’t come off later. So when you scan the Target coupon, the computer states that you can’t use a coupon on a free item.
Well that makes sense. I don’t know why people post that you can use a coupon on a free item anyway. It never works and just makes everyone frustrated. 🙁 If you think about it, it’s only logical that you can’t use a coupon for a free item on something that is free already.
They post it because some stores allow it. Just like some Target stores allow more than one “like” Target coupon per transaction. Just one of those YMMV things.
My Target will let me use a coupon on a free product. I would say frequently half of my coupons beep and almost always they will let them go through without any second glance even. Last week with the healthy choice meal sale I was able to get 12 meals and get 2 free with their sale, 3 free with Target coupons and 2 free with manufacturer coupons. I paid a little over $8 for 12 meals. Funny enough tho, I was sure this taco sauce was marked $1 but it wasn’t ringing up that so I told her it was marked $1 but she wouldn’t give me that without sending someone back there to check. I didn’t want to wait for that so I didn’t get it. Plus my cousin worked at Target and said they are supposed to just change the amount if it is under a certain price.
Yep, that was true when I worked there too. Unfortunately though not all cashiers seem to abide by that.
but my feeling is that the store is going to be reimbursed for the coupon and actually come out ahead of where they would have been anyway. I don’t know why they wouldn’t take it when they would be profitting.
My Target will let me do just about anything. They are amazing! So for some all the deal scenarios are beneficial.

In this post you say the we can stack the Target coupon for the Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut cereal with two manufacturer coupons. Here’s what the Target web coupon states: “Limit one coupon or offer per transaction.” Doesn’t that mean that I can’t stack the coupon?
I ask also because I tried to stack a Target coupon with a web coupon at Publix the other day and that coupon stated the same thing. The cashier there rejected the stack because the Target coupon prohibited it. I thought she was right but now I wonder.
The Target coupon policy states, “Target accepts one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item (unless prohibited).” In Collin’s scenario you’re buying 2 boxes of the cereal, so you can use two manufacturer coupons and the BOGO Target coupon. I don’t know what Publix’s coupon policy is, but you can do this at Target with no problem.

Has anyone else found that your coupons “attach” to the wrong products? I bought a slew of pet food items the other day, and it seemed like nothing attaches to the right product! Some days it works in my favor, not so much the other day. I think they shortchanged me about 2 bucks. 🙁
But I figured there was just no way I could explain to the clerk that the 1.50 coupons for GL cat food were supposed to be on the .77 items and the Caesar dog food bogo was supposed to be .70, and the .89 pedigree was supposed to be .89 and not a 1, LOL I bought the BOGO cat treats and one of the cheaper coupons attached to it instead of 1.52 off.
My target had some of the Beggin strips marked down to 1.81, so a good deal if you have the $1.00 off and the BOGO coupons and RA is out….
I’m planning on Kelloggs and chips for this week, and of course, more free cat food, LOL
As a side note, handing over about 40 coupons will make your Target clerk’s eyes roll back, LOL
Yes…I’ve had that happen to me too!! I thought I was going to go crazy trying to figure out which items my coupons attached to. Hehehe…
UGH! Last night after my Target trip I noticed, even though I specifically watched my cashier scan every single coupon, that my French’s mustard coupon did not take off!!!! I was so angry, and I didn’t realize until I was in my car. My target store is always SUPER crowded, so standing in the customer service line for an additional 30 minutes for a $1 just wasn’t worth it to me! It just the principle! Target is my go to store, and this really upsets me!

I agree with Lacey, I have found that the best deal for several months has been through Amazon- the Amazon mom program combined with subscribe and save plus I have had 20% off coupons I found in parenting magazines.
Agree with Amazon, I just paid .09 for 200+ diapers shipped right to my door. I will get the diapers if they are .16/ diaper or lower.
Anna: I buy my diapers on Amazon mom. I get a 140 to a box and I pay about .16 a diaper.

Someone caught me in Target and I tried to explain the “stacking” and of course when it is on top of a sale, ho do they make money off of the hip2savers?
I did give the lady a Nabisco coupon and an explanation of where the coupons are on the Target website.
So many people remain in ignorance about the way to save, the stores will never really lose money with all the deals we get here.

Walgreens has tostitos on sale this week for $1.97, so IDEALLY you should be able to price match for an even better deal on the tostitos. I had a store tell me once though that I couldn’t use coupons on an item that I’m price matching. Makes no sense to me, but couldn’t do anything about it. And I’ve also seen peelies at the store on these for a free 6 pk of pepsi sodas when you buy 2 tostitos. Going to try today!

Tried to use the $1 off tostitos salsa coupon and they wouldn’t let me either. A message pops up to the cashier that says “You cannot use a coupon on a free item” It did let me use the 2 manuf coupons for the chips & the one for the salsa..so still a great deal!
ooh, thanks for posting about the Pepsi 6-packs! I printed out one of the Target $1/2 coupons when it first came out and hadn’t seen any deals so it had pretty much been forgotten. Now I’ve found it again and printed a second one 🙂

I did it tonight and was able to use both Manu Q’s as well as the B1G1 Target Q with no problems. The Target one did beep, but the cashier overrode it and typed in the amount free ($2.50). What an awesome deal!!
I did my diapers deal today like this:
I bought one Huggies box and one Pampers box ( I asked and was told that you can mix and match them, they cost the same and you still get the 5 $ Giftcard)
I bought a lage pack of wipes and used a 1/3$ off Target coupon and 1/2.50 coupon on the Huggies,
I used a 7$ off Target coupon for the Pampers and wipes AND the 2 $ off of Pampers and wipes and payed 37.08 $ Plus the 5 $ Giftcard so 32.08 $ for everything
Yeah, my target wont let me use the $1.00 tostito’s coupon either, but its still a great deal with the other coupons- only about $1.00 an item! And we go through chips and salsa like water, so I’m super excited about it!
i am new to this target couponing and i am unable to download the coupon activator so i can print out target coupons…..does anyone have any ideas? i am so bummed!!!!!
I can’t find the $3/1 manufacture huggies coupon on the Target site.. Anyone else having trouble?
I dont know if this helps anyone but here goes. When I shop at target I put all my coupons with the items that they are for then I tell them that I want them to scan them after each item. It helps a TON!!! I can aslo watch to make sure that each coupon was deducted.(some checkers just stick it in the drawer and move on) the man. coupon show right after the item that way and the store one too, most of the time.
My target (missouri) has so many great toiletry items on clearance right now! Suave for Men products, Suave lotions, Tresemme has styling products, Garnier Fructis! Before coupons the total was $140.00 and I was only out of pocket $60, what an amazing savings!
