Wowee! Do I have some news for all of you! It looks like Walmart is stepping up to the plate. They have surprisingly updated their corporate coupon policy in a VERY good way! Here’s my favorite change…

Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.

Can you believe that?! I am so excited about this! I would write more regarding their new coupon policy, but it’s Friday and I’ve got family stuff to do. Stay tuned for a more thorough post next week.

(Thanks for the heads up, Kelsey & Consumer Queen!)

The closest Walmart to me just happens to be the busiest in the country and I have not had good experiences there. I do normally get overage on coupons, which has been a plus and not a lot of problems using IPs.

I am super excited that I can ( attempt to, at least) use Register Rewards now and also LOVE the whole cash back thing. That is just crazy in a good way!

  2. Julieanne28

Nice changes, too bad doubling wasn’t included. I find items much cheaper w/coupons at Bi-Lo, Publix, & Freds since they all double coupons. I used to shop Walmart on a weekly basis until I started couponing, now I only go in about twice a month and that is just for Coffee-Mate creamer since they are the only store that carries my flavor in a large bottle.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

julieanne28…I have seen coffee-mate coupons at Casey gas stations…keep an eye out for them attached to the glass doors by the soda!!! 🙂

Off topic: But any one have any $10 Amazon Baby store code or 20% YT code for Amazon diapers? I’m dearly looking for these!

    Thanks in advance:)

    • A

I have YT code do u want to trade for pampers diaper reward code? Email me at audreydu(at)yahoo(dot)com

      • Kavi Ravi

I have Huggies rewards code from pull-ups that I can trade. Just e-mailed you!

        Thanks:)

Well I still don’t like going to Walmart with coupons especially the BOGO free coupons I went today I used one BOGO and one 1.50 off. And the manager didn’t want to honor the coupon she said I was doubling and I calmly explained to her that I wasn’t I was using my BOGO and my 1.50 off the one I was purchasing…She got really rude and upset at the end she enter the coupon manually and got my 1.50 off… but I don’t like going to Walmart to use coupons is a hassle.

    • Jill

Then don’t go. Problem solved 🙂

      • Indymom

Totally agreed. To use a BOGO coupon you must purchase 2 items – 1 at normal price and the 2nd at $0 BUT YOU STILL DO HAVE TO PURCHASE 2! Your coupon requires you to purchase 2 ,,,, therefore, to use a second coupon, you must make another purchase. You CANNOT use 2 man coupons on 1 item!

The first coupon says IF you buy this, we’ll Give you that.

The second coupon says IF you buy this, we’ll take $x.xx off the price.

If you’re using both of these coupons then you’re using both deals on that one item…..

I’m not trying to be rude but I just don’t know how else to put it! So many people have trouble with it. AND I DON’T CARE WHETHER OR NOT SOME CASHEIRS/STORE LETS IT GO THROUGH! JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN BREAK THE RULES DOESN’T MEAN YOU SHOULD IMO

        • Leighann

The impression I got was that the poster wasn’t trying to use 2 coupons on 1 item. I got the impression she was buying 2 items and using 2 coupons.

          • Indymom

Yes, she was purchasing 2 items and using 2 coupons… But if you have a coupon for $3.00/2 and you have a $1.00/1 coupon could you purchase 2 items and use both? That is basically what she was doing. The first coupon required the purchase of 2 items so to use the other coupon you’d have to purchsae a 3rd item, if you don’t then you’re basically asking the store to take 2 coupons off one of the items. Some stores do that just to make us happy, but it’s not supposed to be done.

        • Sarah

It is common coupon knowledge/practice that when using a BOGO coupon, you can use a $_/1 coupon on the item you are “buy”ing.

        • Laura

See I have always been explained that the BOGO coupon is for the one I am getting for free only so therefore you should be able to use the $1.50 coupon on the one you have to purchase to get the one for free, right?

          • Kim C.

            That’s correct!

          • Indymom

It’s true that alot of people state that, BUT look at it this way: If you walked in the store with your BOGO coupon could you walk out with just that free item and no other purchase? NO, right? That is because you have to purchase 2 to use the coupon and the coupon covers 2 products. It is true that that coupon attaches to the second item (because it needs to know the price of that one) and you could “technically” use a second coupon and fool the system or cashier. But just because you CAN fool the system doesn’t mean you SHOULD.

BTW, It is not common knowledge that you can stack these coupons,,, it is common practice, but not common knowledge. 🙂

    • tyler

you can’t use a bogo and a dollar off the same item, thats why. They only let it though so you wouldn’t make a scene.

    • sarah

Technically you are using two coupons requiring three purchased products one only two, so she was within her rights to refuse. 2 items qualify you for the BOGO coupon. you can’t use a second coupon unless you purchase a third item. Now, if a store SALE is a bogo free, then you may use one coupon for each item purchased, on top of the store’s free offer.

      • LC

okay so I need to know: can you or can’t you? Both sides make sense, and I don’t want to do something wrong. Can someone show me where they say you can or can’t? Not according to stores, but according to the manufacture. Will they get reimbursed? Or could it be considered coupon fraud?

        • Indymom

Can You – yes, in some situations
Should You- no, not in my opinion.

As far as the Manufacturer and retailer goes…. If the retailer purchases this product from the Manufacturer then most likely the man. will reimburse for the coupons.
IF, however, the retailer purchases the product from the man. but not in an amount equal to or greater then the amount of coupons they are trying to cash in then the manufacturer will require the retailer to show purchasing documentation that they did indeed have this much stock to sell; this almost never happens though. In almost all cases the retailer WILL get reimbursed, it would have to be a HUGE extreme couponer to be able to push through more coupons then what at store has on hand especially a huge corporation like Walmart who buys by the thousands/millions HTH

        • A

I think the situation only works at CVS or Walgreens. WM doesnt allow that

          • B

Commissary doesn’t allow to do that either…

        • Indymom

About the only tiime the Retailer gets completly shut down on a coupon is in situations where couponers find an awesome coupon for a certain product that is not offered in their area and then use the coupon on something else from the same company. For example, Walmart does not offer Ronzoni Garden Delight so if you used your coupon and instead bought the other variety of Ronzoni and the casheir put it through thinking that you DID buy Ronzoni pasta….. the manufacturer knows for a fact that Walmart has never sold a box of Garden Delight pasta and therefore will not reimburse that coupon. If a chip seller puts a coupon out specifically for Honey-Mustard chips and someone buys that brand in plain…. the man. will know that that flavor is not offered in your area and will not reimbures,,, the retailer is out. HTH

    • Tina

Ok let me clear the confusion I purchased two items the oliverri olive oil… I used the buy one get one free and the 1.50 off the other one. they told me i couldn’t use both, I didn’t make a scene I was asking why I couldn’t use it . When I was using the 1.50 coupon off the one I was purchasing and not the free one. That’s what happened.

      • Leah

I hate to disagree with you, Indymom, but there are several stores that state RIGHT IN THEIR POLICY (see Walgreens) that they allow the use of a BOGO coupon with a $x/$x. I find it odd that any store would do this knowing that they would not be reimbursed for both coupons.
And your analogy about a $3/2 Q w/ another Q is faulty, as this is a completely different situation. You cannot use a $x/2 with an $x/1 on 2 items.
It’s fine if you don’t feel right using a BOGO w/ another coupon, but that doesn’t automatically make it “wrong” or immoral. I think it would be wrong if a store made a policy that they don’t accept the two together to try to “sneak it by”, but, as it stands, there is nothing wrong w/ it.

        • Kari

Agreed. EVERY store in my area…Bi-Lo, Publix, Walgreens, Riteaid & CVS allow the use of a $ coupon along side a BOGO…it says in their coupon policies. They do get their money back. To use 2 coupons you must scan 2 items or the system will not allow it. as long as you just have one coupon per item(unless using store coupons w/ manufacture) the system allows it. You are missing out on a whole lot of savings if you are just using a BOGO coupon on 2 items!!!

        • Nicole

Leah, I agree with you. Some people need not comment unless they know what they are talking about. SEVERAL store’s coupon policies state that a BOGO CAN be paired with a $ off coupon. I seriously doubt this would be the case if the retailer’s weren’t getting reimbursed for both of these coupons.

I’m not sure why, but it really irks me that someone would question my “coupon morals” when in reality they have no clue what they are talking about…not to mention…missing some great deals.

        • Kiesha

Have to agree as well. I am about as “stick up my butt” as you can possibly get for following the rules. However it is pretty ridiculous for someone to say that a corporation (Rite Aid, etc) would write something *specifically in their coupon policy* that violated the terms of manufacturer coupon use and might cause them to not be reimbursed by the manufacturer. What, like the manufacturer can’t read the policy and call them out on it if it is “wrong”?

I have seen people claiming that the “coding” means you can’t use another q. These are people that know just enough about coding to be dangerous. BOGOs for two of the same item are coded one way, “buy this, get that” or free (no purchase required) are coded a different way. Utterly ridiculous and insulting.

Believe me, when I see people misusing coupons I will call them out in a heartbeat. But I try to make sure I actually know what I am talking about first.

  5. Cindy Starcher

    AWESOME NEWS!!!!! THANKS!

  6. NolaGirl

I guess I’ll have to cross over to the dark side and shop at the evil empire since gas prices are kicking my @$$.

    • Dee

      hee hee! seriously!! it’s true!

      • NolaGirl

🙂 See ya next week. I’m not sure where we’re meeting.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

me toooooo. I am in NH and I do not have stores which double coupons so this is a good news for me.

          • Jenny

@ Bliss: I’m in MA. Stop ‘N Shop, Roche Bros, and Shaws double coupons that are .99 and under. Also, Roche Bros will double 5 $1.00 coupons on Tuesdays, given that you spend at least $25. Hope this helps!

            • Jay

Price chopper doubles up to $1.00 as well. There’s some up here in NH

    • Pamela

Ha, ha…I’m with you on that…I’m feeling the pain too!

  7. TheirMomToo

Well since Walmart has a coupon limit that is fine, I have no prob well that but I didn’t have 40 coupons. I had about 26. I’m thinking it could have been the dollar amount as twenty of the were $3.00 off 1.

  8. Donna Mc.

    They take competitor coupons!!!! W00T!

    • flipside

Really, like if it says Walgreens on it, they will take it?

    • DP

      Do they?

Walmart does not accept the following coupons:

•Print-at-home Internet coupons that require no purchase
•Competitors’ coupons for dollars/cents or percentage off, buy one get one free, and double- or triple-value coupons

      • Lisa

I think they will take the ones that say “X product for $1.99” but not the ones that say “$1 off X product” It’s kind of the same as price matching. At least that’s how I took it. If you click on ‘download coupon policy’ it shows examples of what sort of coupons are and are not accepted.

    • Stacey

The only comp. coupons they take are ones that say a price, not an amount off. For example, Walgreens’ ad might have a tylenol coupon that says $2.99.

      • Donna Mc.

Yes, but I am more excited that they’ll take any MFC catalinas from Walgreens, Giant, or Safeway. 🙂 For those they would honor the $ off the item as a regular coupon.

    • Jennifer

I didn’t understand the policy to read that WalMart accepts competitor coupons…they only accept the competitor coupons that state a specific amount on it for the item. It said they dont accept competitor coupons for cents off, etc. and after looking through my binder thats really all my coupons are.

      • Donna Mc.

I was referring mainly to the MFC Catalina’s of competitors, which they do take now.

  9. Melinda

So are the registers now coded to accept overage or will it still beep and require the cashier to “push it thru”?
And what happens when you use a target store coupon or any other store coupon? Does the register a accept it or will the cashier have to “push it thru”?
And can I now use the Wags IVC booklet?
Sorry so many questions, Im just so excited about this new policy. I just hope the sweet cashiers are up to speed!

  10. Andrea

So now we can use register rewards at walmart??!?!?!

    • Jennifer
      • whitney

I’ve used Register Rewards at Walmart many times, WITHOUT beeping, they go right on through!!

    • Kathleen

YES! It is right in the new policy stating so. I am most excited about this. Often times I do shopping and end up with the RRs, but the never find anything good by the time they expire. Now I can use them at Walmart, SWEET!

      • whitney

I’ve been using RRs at Walmart for a long time, people don’t realize they are MQs that can be used anywhere!!

        • Kathleen

I’ve tried at 3 different Walmarts and none would take them. I even pointed out that it was a MQ, started with a 5, etc, etc and still got the refusual. But now, they can not deny it.

          • ROSE

Yes they can refuse to take the RR”s. They don’t have a specific product listed for them to be used on. I just returned from my wal-mart and its a no go as of now. They are checking into it for me and will call when they know one way or the other if they are going to accept them. They did do overage tonight without issue.. yeahhhh

            • Kathleen

This is in their new coupon policy:

              •Checkout coupons
â—¦(also called “Catalinas”) that are printed at our competitors’ registers, have “Manufacturer Coupon” with specific requirements printed on them, a valid remit address for the manufacturer, valid expiration date, and a scannable bar code.

So how can they deny them?

  11. flipside

What does basket purchase mean? Does that mean that it goes toward your total purchase?

    • Shannon

Thats the way Im reading it, yes.

  12. Heather

i love this news, however i hate walmart…. i will pay more for the same item at target then go to walmart… however this may change my view 🙂

    • Jessie

I love this comment 🙂 Ditto.

    • Rachel

      I’m with you Heather!

      • A

Ditto. Target is much more coupon friendly i would rather give them my money

  13. Lisa

I had heard this was coming, so when I was at Wal-Mart today I picked up two packages of Ronco spaghetti that were $0.88 and used two $1 off coupons. When the coupons were scanned the register said “valid coupon amount?” and the cashier hit a button and accepted them. I had other items, so the overage went toward the total. This is a great thing for those of us who have to shop at Wal-Mart (I say “have to” because I live in a small town where there are few options besides Wal-Mart). By the way, if you go to roncorecipes.com and sign up, you get access to coupons which is where I got the coupons I used today for FREE spaghetti!

    • Shannon

      Thanks for the info Lisa!

  14. Mitchell Wischmann

So does this mean we can use Register Rewards at Walmart?!

    • whitney

I’ve used them for a long time with no problem, people dont realize they are MQs that can be used anywhere, and they do not beep!

      • Mitchell Wischmann

Thanks! I was afraid that they would beep and wanted to make sure I had something in writing just in case.

  15. GM

Coupon policy or not, Walmart is still an extremely customer no-service place. I went to the one in Dallas, GA last week with about 10 legitimate, valid coupons. When I looked @ my receipt after, 4 coupons hadn’t even been taken off. I went to customer no-service, then they ended up taking off 2 more of my coupons, saying they were for the wrong items? They had 3 managers over, insisted on voiding out my order, tried to ring up the order again (I know, I’m a glutton for punishment!) & for some reason couldn’t. The whole ordeal took 1 hour (not counting shopping time)- I ended up leaving my whole order for them to put away. They treated me like a criminal. I am so over shopping there, the land of the brain dead employees/managers. My salvation that night was looking up the people of Walmart website & getting a very good laugh!! This was my worst coupon experience ever!

    • Heather

      LOL love that site!!!

    • Chris

Go to the newer Acworth wal-mart. I have found them to be very coupon friendly and the new store manager there has told me personally that he is trying to order extra of items that have high value coupons that make things free, overage, or very cheap!!!

    • Beth

That doesnt just happen at Walmart! I was at Bilo redeeming a raincheck for BOGO salsa that was on sale a few weeks ago. I bought 6, the cashier rang up 7 and got some weird number that wasnt EVEN close to being the correct price. I took my receipt right back in and she looked at it, kind of laughed and said she owed me 6 cents. I had to get two other employees, and one a manager, they still couldnt get it right (they owed me over $5) so after about ten minutes of them trying to add and subtract I did the same thing and just had them refund the whole order. So not worth my time! I think if you are a cashier, your company should not allow you to operate it until you know basic math and actually how to enter rainchecks! This is not the first time this has happened at Bilo, its just about every time I have a raincheck. So much for that “no child left behind” program lol

  16. Allison A.

This is great news! I love that they take Catalina coupons now. Of course, my mom still firmly believes that Walmart “unstocks” items that have high value coupons available and waits to restock them after the coupons are expired. 🙂

    • Janice H

I agree with your mom ! I’ve seen it happen at the Walmart that I shop at more than one time…even if it’s not a coupon item ..just a sale item at another store! They don’t want to give it to you for a cheap price so they remove that item until the sale is over!

      • ROSE

I believe our wal-greens does this on some items.. here to day gone that night on the lysol handwashing units.. as soon as sell was over the whole display showed back up that morning. hmmm

    • Dani

Actually they really do, not all mind you but most. The company will tell them which ones to pull, or which ones not to send from the distribution center. (Related to someone who worked for Walmart for 15+ years)

  17. Mark

It sounds nice, but isn’t true of every Walmart. I’ve been to two different Walmart’s recently, and neither would honor many computer generated coupons for just a few cents off, no less free item coupons, buy one get one free coupons or where the coupon was for more than the item.
Also when Walmart advertises on websites, that they are having sampleing at their stores, not all their stores listed as haveing them actually have sampleing at them, when listed as I’ve found out.

    • Kiesha

This is a brand spanking new policy so your past experiences are not necessarily indicative of the future. 😉

  18. Adreanne

I went to Walmart today and used two $2 coupons for the Dial lotion that was $1.97, they gave me 6 cents back yay!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      NO WAY. I can’t believe it $)

    • Lynn B

I tried the same scenerio with the dial lotion. The cashier said she could not accept it because the coupon was for more than the item. She called the manager over before she said the mgr wouldnt do it because they had a meeting last week about coupons over the sale price. I stood for 5 mins waiting, and asked, can you just adjust the coupon down and she said no, sh will get in trouble. Alas, the mgr comes and acts like “no big deal” and tells cashier. “we gett that full amt from mfgr anyways” do it, so she does and says to mgr, “you better back me up if i get in trouble:

    • Paul

The only case, according to Walmart corporate today, where they will price adjust a coupon down is if you are purchasing 1 item and using 1 coupon that will give you overage. They will call a CSM to “adjust” the coupon down, they can NOT give you money back. You just got lucky today, I wouldn’t expect anyone else to have the same thing happen!
      Paul
      http://www.iheartthemart.com

      • Netter413

Paul, per the new policy the CAN give you money back…

  19. kay

I LOVE IT. I had just had a problem with them 2 weeks ago when they would not take my $5 coupons for the $2.83 gain softner.. The manager on duty said I couldn’t get it free. I told her that was not true, she could adjust it down. So I emailed Corporate and a new manager called me the next day. I told him his cahiers needed to be better educated about coupons. And told him what happened. He said he was going to take care of it, he sent me a $20 gift card and stated in his letter that he would have the coupon policy up at every register and would educate them better. Well bless his heart, now he is going to have to put the NEW POLICY UP. I am so EXCITED. Can you tell.!!!

  20. Jennifer S.

Sweetness! My hubby’s works for walmart, so we get a discount! If a Walmart discount holder uses thier card before coupons, you get a full discount and then they subtract the coupon value! If you do coupons before your discount, you DO NOT get a discount on the the items you have coupons for! Yeah! More money in my piggy bank!

    • Jennifer

My hubby works there also and I’ve always gotten the full discount even after coupons. I use a lot of coupons there because after discount they are cheaper than other places. Many times they have given me change back because I had $1 coupons for items right around $1 and was in the minus after discount. However, they aren’t very coupon friendly at ours and if something doesn’t pan out I have them void it because hubby doesn’t want me making a big deal and embarrassing him lol

  21. Mitch

    First Walgreen’s, now Walmart.
It seems like we do have a voice.
We are the consumers that keep them open, I am glad they realize they need to address our concerns.
    thanks for the post!
    http://www.gaynycdad.com

  22. amyjo

I love this. Thank you Walmart for putting it in writing. I am doing my best to provide for my family and will shop where I can get the most for my money. If Walmart is willing to give overage on the coupons I use this could make a difference for me. I’m sure many other families are in the same situation.

  23. Andrea

So does this mean that they will accept Catalinas that print with a dollar amount off of any item. For example the $3 catalina that is printing at Safeway when you buy 5 fruit snacks?

  24. Kayla

So we cannot use a coupon that is BOGO? Like Buy one wipes package, get one free? Can someone let me know? Thanks!

    • Kiesha

They do not accept competitor BOGO coupons. They still accept BOGO man qs.

  25. muser

Change will be given? Seriously? I sorta like the idea of going to Wal-Mart to only do money-makers and have Wal-Mart have to pay me change. Still not sure that’s enough to get me in the store when I can get already amazing deals at regional grocery stores w/ coupons.

    • Mike

That’s the thing that throws me too, change being given. I could see them removing that in the next month or so depending how badly it’s being abused. Personally, I’m going to use overage towards things in the store, it’s Walmart! I’d never want change back, but we’ll see how it goes.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I argee. I can use overage for lots of thing.

    • ROSE

      LMAO yeah thats gooooddddddd!!!!

    • Chris

I dont think Wal-mart will mind if people just go in and get money makers. They get reimbursed for the face value of every coupon plus $0.08 just like any other store that accepts manufacturer coupons.

  26. Tracey

When did this go into effect? Yeterday 3/3 I did not get overage for my coupons that were more than the cost of the items the cashier manually adjusted the coupons down to the price of the items. I had several $1 and $3 coupons that were adjusted down to the products prices.

I’ll believe it when I get overage myself.

    • Katie

I sorta doubt that all the cashiers are in the know about it yet, so print out the policy so you can show it to them!! 🙂

    • Kiesha

The blog that broke the story said hot off the presses TODAY, which is 03/04. Of course I imagine it is going to take a while to “trcikle down”, things probably won’t be smooth sailing for a while.

    • Bee

On the Wal-Mart site, the change is dated 3/2. I agree; it may be a little while before everyone is on the same page.

  27. Katie

Wahoo, wahoo, WAHOO!!!!!!! That is awesome!! Thanks for posting, Collin. I have the policy printed out and ready to take with me on my next trip!! 🙂

  28. Katiria

WOW that is so awesome! ! !

  29. Amy

Thank you so much for posting this! I find this policy very interesting. I can’t imagine them actually giving you money for overages on coupons…I’d love to hear if this works for anyone. It always seems that it depends on what cashier you choose whether they end up accepting certain coupons or not. I think a lot of it is lack of education on couponing maybe?

I will have to try using register rewards there. That would be awesome if it works, since they don’t have the same limit policy as Walgreens -for example you have to buy 3 things to use 3 coupons.

    • Jenny

My Maalox coupons were $5 off and the Maalox it’s self cost $4.34. The overage always went to the rest of my purchase. They’ve ALWAYS done this for me. It’s nothing new here. Sorry everyone else was having issues with this. I didn’t realize how lucky I was!

    • aflmom

Actually their policy does state the number of coupons can’t exceed the number of items. That’s easy to get around though. Just buy bananas and separate them, so they ring up one at a time. Each banana is usually around 0.25.

      • Indymom

OMG!!!! I’m LMAO right now!! I can’t imagine the look on a cashiers face when I start ripping each one of my bananas apart and explain to them that I want each one wieghed and typed in separatly! 😮 I guess if I ever have a bunch of RR/catalinas to use I’ll know how to handle it! That’s Too Funny! Thank you!

I just went to Wal-Mart to use the Gain coupons ($3/1) and had a VERY tough time. I had the printed coupon policy and the policy pulled up on my iPhone but they still resisted, BIG TIME! After about 30 minutes…I finally walked out with 9 boxes of Gain, 2 packs of yo baby yogurt, 2 boxes of gerber cereal bars, and veggies puffs for a total of $3.68. Each box of gain was $1.87 and the baby food averaged out to be $2.68 each….

Be ready for the resistance =)

    • Tracey

That was one of the coupons I used yesterday 3/3 that was adjusted down to the price of the item. According to another poster here the policy went into effiect 3/2. Good for you for fighting for the overage and getting it.

    • Andrea

Congrats! stand your ground & be persistent when you know you are right! I swear these cashiers act as if our coupons are affecting their paychecks! When in reality it is what is keeping their paychecks happening!

      • Tara

The cashiers, assistant managers, and managers aren’t educated on their policies. I’ve always had trouble, with coupons, at Wal-Mart and rarely go there as a result. I thought I’d try one more time, yesterday, because I needed to get all of those snacks for my daughter. I’m not so sure it’s worth it though. I’d almost rather drive an extra 5-10 minutes to go to a coupon-friendly store with great customer service, than to Wal-Mart (which is 1 minute away) and deal with their customer service – if you want to call it that.

  31. Jennifer

This still does not change my feelings for Walmart. I am still not going to shop there……

    • Amy

I haven’t shopped there in years and still won’t with this latest news. If you want to watch a great movie about Walmart, you should see “Walmart: The high cost of LOW prices”. Watched it via Netflix and it only solidified my stance on that horrible corporation.

  32. Jo Ann

I would be interested to know just who(what companies) Walmart considers a “competitor”.

    • Rose

I think WG has been kicking their XXX here in Arkansas!

      • Caitlin

I would say that Target and Kroger have been in Little Rock, as well. Target and Kroger are both more crowded than Walmart, in general.

  33. Jenny

They have always donet his for me. I didn’t know this was something new. A lot of my coupons exceed the price of the item and they always take the extra overage and put it towards the rest of my purchase. It’s a shame some stores wasn’t doing this earlier.

  34. Rose

Thats great news. It took our WM in Arknasas (their home state) forever to finally except on-line coupons without giving me a hard time. Thanks for the info Colin! As usual, you are really awesome.

  35. Kenna

I am glad Walmart is updating their coupon policy, around here it is about the only grocery store. If anyone would like a 20% off diaper code for amazon I have one you can have. Email me at kcaselman at gmail dot com. 🙂

  36. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

At my local WM they are taking the Com. coupons as comp. adds. letting me keep the Q and reuse it the next week! Is the part about the q having to have the end price new? I’m just subtracting 75 cents or whatever the q amount is from the product amount and telling them just like I do with comp. adds. I did show the checker the coupon for 3.00 off a 20 ct bottle of Excedrian which I paid 36 cents for. 🙂

  37. Caitlin

Now to get Kroger cashiers to learn their company’s coupon policy… if I have to call Kroger’s corporate office one more time, somebody’s gonna wake up BALD!!! :O

  38. aflmom

Ha! Just had a thought. Their new policy on giving change back may back-fire. What would stop people for using a large rr to buy a small item to get the change back and turn rr’s back into cash? Course they would still get reimbursed but it would affect their cash flow.

    • Kiesha

Because the RR says right on it that the coupon value can’t exceed the total purchase amount. The catalina policy states that the terms on the catalina must be complied with. I am sure some people will make scenes and bully personnel into giving it to them, which concerns me because if it happens often enough we may use the ability to use the RRs.

  39. gina

Great news for everybody that likes to shop at Wallyword but it wont makes things easier for the ones using coupons ,because they still question you no matter what….I stay out of there like i have for the last 2 years……Love Publix

  40. linda

I was at Target today and the cashier informed me that they also have a new policy of no more than two “like” manufacturers coupons per transaction, in addition to not allowing two “like” target coupons in one transaction. Apparently it was a reaction to lots of people coming in with a stack of those $2.25/1 Finish coupons.

    • mouni

mm they ‘re just getting worse. I don’t see why they would limit MQ if they’re getting reimbursed anyway. The more coupon unfriendly Target gets the less stuff i’ll be buying from them and I’m sure I’m not the only one. I hope Rite Aid and CVS never change like this.

    • Bee

They were also using Target Finish coupons, which DOES come directly out of Target’s pocket. I only had about three of them and didn’t redeem them all at once. Have never seen a need to redeem coupons in large numbers like that, especially on a deal that may raise a red flag.

I think that a lot of times people can’t think beyond the next good deal, not realizing they are jeopardizing everyone’s ability to save. Companies have to adjust policies all the time due to people being offered a deal but taking it to an extreme. And the actual companies have strong relationships with the retailers, so you can bet that if Electrasol complained to Target, then Target listened. Same kind of relationship exists between Kroger and P&G.

Because, let’s face it. At the end of the day, a company exists to make money. They want customers but they are not there to give away the farm.

I am particularly galled by the no free printed internet coupons. Manufacturers may not want to engage in the expense of mailing out the coupons. They may have been able to offer free ones because they didn’t have to pay postage OR printing. People suck sometimes.

  41. Tara

    EXCELLENT NEWS!!!! HOOTIE HOO!

  42. kramsdell

Thanks for letting me know. Just printed and it is going in my purse immediately. 🙂

  43. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I LOATHE walmart…you cant pay me to shop there, even if with coupons lol
    Great info though!!

  44. aflmom

Well, I’m definitely going to reconsider shopping at WM and start going there some. Besides I’ve been told our Publix is changing their coupon policy and they haven’t been that coupon friendly lately. sigh

    • B

I hear you. My public stop giving a overage now and very picky too…I’m not sure about other publix in city though.

  45. Hannah

I was in Walmart a few days ago and found out that they’ve also started accepting competitor coupons! I missed the frozen food deal at Target last week but was able to use my Target coupons on Smart One meals anyway!

  46. FrugalDarling

I’m kinda crushing on Walmart tonight after hearing this. But I’m also still skeptical. Feeling like a Walmart rep is gonna pop up any minute and say, “Gotcha!!” or claim someone hacked into their website and left a false coupon policy. LOL Or I’m waiting for the store managers to play crazy with the wording in the new policy, like telling us we have to buy a “basket” to cover the overage. tehehehe…

    • Indymom

Hehehe….. buying a basket.. 🙂 I’ve got a big cheesy grin on my face right now and giggling….. you guys are too funny tonight!

  47. Kim

Just a side note–I have 2 $1.00 off of Pampers diapers and 2 $1.00 off of Luvs diapers coupons. Respond to this post if you want them and I will email you to get your mailing address. It’s not a lot, but every little bit helps!

  48. Sarah M.

Off topic, but would any of you ladies happen to have an extra 20% Amazon code that won’t be using. I really want to buy some diapers real bad. TIA!

  49. leah

Sorry Tyler, but you are incorrect. You absolutely can use $off coupon with a BOGO. Start saving yourself some more money by utilizing this great couponer information.

  50. Sandy

Super happy that Walgreen’s Register Rewards can be used at Walmart! Woooohoooo!!!!!
