Wowee! Do I have some news for all of you! It looks like Walmart is stepping up to the plate. They have surprisingly updated their corporate coupon policy in a VERY good way! Here’s my favorite change…

Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.

Can you believe that?! I am so excited about this! I would write more regarding their new coupon policy, but it’s Friday and I’ve got family stuff to do. Stay tuned for a more thorough post next week.

(Thanks for the heads up, Kelsey & Consumer Queen!)

•Print-at-home Internet coupons that require no purchase
dose mean i can’t use mission chip coupon @wal-mart

    • ROSE

my wal-mart will not take the mission chips coupon. because it is printed.

    • Beth

Pick&Save and Festival here already wont take the printed ‘free’ or ‘bogo’ coupons. I will be going to walmart asap to get these chips before they start denying these coupons too! It’s the only store left in the area.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yep, the Manager told me they NO LONGER accept Internet coupons for free items, such as the Free Planters Almonds coupon we all got on here. sucks.

  2. Laura

Does this mean I can use Register Rewards since they are similar to Catalina’s and say “manufacturer’s coupon” on them, just like how the Commissary accepts them?

    • momwhocares

Yes – they have always taken them even RR – well, should I say most of the walamrts have

I am sad to see the doublers go away and competitor dollar off coupons go away too 🙁 we use the albertsons doublers up to $1.00 and now we wont be able to – oh well nice while it lasted 🙂

      • Kiesha

“Most” walmarts did not accept RRs before. The number that accepted them was a tiny percentage of Walmarts out there.

        This is a nice change!

        • momwhocares

Most people I spoek to said theirs did an dI know people from all over the country and have family from the east to west – so that is what I meant by it.

  3. Laura

Does this mean I can use Register Rewards since they are similar to Catalina’s and say “manufacturer’s coupon” on them, just like how the Commissary accepts them?

  4. stacy

I don’t see where it states that register rewards will be accepted. I only see that it says catalina coupons with specific requirements printed on them. RR are just $ off of any item and not specific. What am I missing?

    • Leah

RR are catalina coupons, and they are manufacturer coupons, not store coupons, so the “no dollar off store coupons” rule does not apply. HTH.

      • Katie

I haven’t shopped at Walgreens in a while, but as long as there is a valid address for Walmart to get reimbursed from, then we should be able to use the RRs. Is there some kind of address on the RRs?

  5. ROSE

I just returned from my wal-mart and they don’t know about taking the walgreens rewards. They are looking into it for me. They said because the reward does not have a specific item to be used for, it is not a competitor coupon. and they can not figure out where they would send the rewards for reimbursment. So its a no go as of now. On the positive side they did do overage yeahhhh!

    • Kiesha

They are NOT competitor coupons, they are catalinas. If you look at the picture on the downloadable policy, the catalina one says $2 off just like an RR, NOT $2 off item x. People are confusing catalinas (which is a type of man q) with competitor coupons (store coupons).

Also the remit address is right on the RR!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That is what is was worried about.

  6. Rachel

I guess I am the only person who dosent buy things that create overage? Is there a blog that tells u what to buy?

    • Nicole

There are deals with overage quite often, you just have to pay close attention. For example, Walmart sells Gain fabric sheets (the 40 ct.) for around $1.87. The $3 off Gain fabric softener coupon would apply. Meaning you would get the remaining $1.13 applied to the rest of your order.

For me this is a plus since I only know of one store in my area that allows overage and it’s not somewhere I prefer to shop.

  7. Wanda

I think they still need to work on the competitiors coupons. Most competitors coupons are for dollars/ cents off aren’t they?

    • Kiesha

It is easy to understand why they don’t take store coupons for $ off. Let’s say Patty’s Beauty Hut sells Olay body wash, and their regular price is $12.50 (lots of markup). They put out a coupon that says $5 off Olay body wash. This effectively makes their price $7.50. Now if Walmart’s every day price is $6.50 for the same product. If they accept the $5 off store coupon from Patty’s, they are now selling you the body wash for $1.50. Unlike man qs, no one is going to reimburse them for the Patty’s coupon, it is just a loss.

Their every day price is cheaper than the other store’s coupon price. Now if Patty’s ran an ad and said “Olay body wash $5.99” Walmart would price match it.

      • momwhocares

Yes, but also keep in mind that prices reflect company costs:
        So where :
Patty’s Beauty Hut paid $4.00 a bottle for olay body wash because they can only buy 5 cases a month
Walmart pays about $.65 an olay body wash because they buy about 5000 cases and send it to a whare house that distributes to the stores in the area

So, in your $5.99 example: patty would only make $1.99 off the bottle and walmart makes $.95 (and walmart may sell ten times if not more than patty)- so the loss is still about the same for each company. Patty selling 100 at 1.99 would mean a profit of $199. – walmart selling 1000 would make a profit of $950. –

That is why Walmart has the ability to have an “everyday lower price” – their profit is about the same or equal to that of the smaller chains., they just pay less for their product by buying in huge bulk – you should read how and why walmart is putting many business out of business. If the profits WERE the same, that wouldn’t happen. Plus, they pay their employees crap – you can work their as a cahsier for 4 years and still make less than $9.00 and hour – I know people who do and they are not disabled, etc… just people like you and me and with crappy insurance. THe other places try to pay their employees a better wage and that too cuts into the profit costs. So,in the end – do not let walmart fool you that they are truly eating into their profits more or equal to the competitors.

However, since they are price matching all local competitors – then they are selling many of their products for less then they want and more than just a few like the other stores who do sales and expect to take that loss on those few items to bring in customers and hopefully more sold items from the store too. Walmart is a business, not charity and they want to be billionaires and what is wrong with that? As long as they do not try to monopolize all areas and rid themselves of all compitition

        • momwhocares

opps I did the math wrong, but I think the idea is there 🙂 I can admit I am not a math nerd 🙂 –

I realized it after I posted and just got time to say so :/

        • Michelle

What defines a competitor? Do they have a specific mileage requirment? I have had a few issues using say Target specific MQs in my walmart because there is not anything other than a walmart for 60 miles. Can anyone help? Also does anyone know if the coupons in the paper are any different than the ones posted online for RP, SS etc?

          • momwhocares

A competitor is defined by mileage or region.

FOr example: if there is no target in 60 miles of your walmart then that walmart is NOT competing against Target for store sales. If there was a Target in your area or less than 40 miles from your Walmart then the local consumers may choose to go to either store for their shopping needs – so at that point each store is competing for your business. Stores are not competing against stores outside the local comsumers range. People usually will not drive more than 30 mins to another store to save a few bucks – so any stores with in approx 40 miles diameter of one store would be considered a competitor of that store, outside of that diameter, would not.

    • bob

the important thing is Does it say “Manufactures Coupon” on it.
Kroger sends out coupons with their logo on them, but most say “Manufactures Coupon” on them. Target also has printable coupons with their name on them, but most say “Manufactures Coupon”
      Walmart should accept these.
      I will try it.
If they say “No” I will not purchase that item.

    • Courtney

But I couldn’t use Target coupons at Wal-Mart now, right? I have done so in the past, but the new policy makes me think that I won’t be able to use that…

    • Jessica t

Went to walmart today with a friend and she got 18 dollars worth of stuff and they paid her .36!!!!! She paid nothing!!!! I was shocked and jealous:)

Just adding that Paul from iheartthemart.com talked to TWO managers at the corporate level on the phone the other day and this is what he says about register rewards.

    Sue March 4, 2011 at 6:25 pm

Does this mean they take Registar Rewards from Walgreens? I would be soooo happy!

    Paul March 4, 2011 at 11:45 pm

I just came back from WalMart and no, they would not take my RR from Walgreens. They looked at me like I was from outer space. Rude Rude Rude!!

      • arleneinaz

I had the same thing happen…was told that the manager had determined that since it was not specifically for an item (for example, $1 off Crest), they would not take it….I had $40 in WAGS RR and couldn’t use them. Sad, but I will be calling Corporate today to get clarification.

  9. Bridget

wow, register rewards from walgreens. Thats awsome news.

    • andrea

So we can do those RR deals at Walgr and then use them to buy groceries and stuff at Walmart? If that is the case, I will be shopping at both stores from now on!!

      • shannon

Yes from what I understand you can most definitely use RR at Wal-Mart now, according to Paul. Hop over to iheartthemart.com to ask him any further questions. He’s pretty good at responding and he spent hours on the phone with members of corporate management over the new policy.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

WOW im super excited about this walmart policy ladies ! FINALLY A policy !!whohoo! i get so mad when i dont get the overage on the item & walmart get’s the full value on the coupon.! ! also im not a walgreens shopper but knowing this will turn me into one ! LOL hope this works out! also im not sure if u all know this but i do have friends that use there RR’s at meijer.. bc meijer says they take compeiter coupons . : ) im not a meijer shopper so it never really excited me . but maybe that will help someone else , Happy couponing !!

  10. Lynda

I will believe it when I see it at my walmart. heck they want even take my normal coupons without a fight..like trying to buy a sample item with a coupon i tell them to adjust the coupon….. one manger even told told me they want you to buy a bigger size… I just rolled my eyes and told them it has any size wrote on the coupon… I hardly ever shop at walmart anymore.

  11. mary

they took my Hot Pocket catilina from Winn Dixie no problem…..RR haven’t tried that but I’m going shopping today and that would be great!!!!!!!

  12. mel

I don’t mind the part about using catalina coupons (like the $/ for a specific product), b/c a lot of times I don’t use them at the store they were generated and get unused. But using my earned RRs at WalMart, I think I would rather keep Walgreens in business b/c they loose out on the return money from me going in there to shop again. I know Wags has issues and some stores are not entirely coupon friendly, but this just opens the whales mouth even bigger and I would rather not support WM with them.

    • Bee

Yeah I considered the possibility that Wag’s would scale back if they thought most of the RR’s were not coming back to the store.

Just as companies must please customers, people who use coupons must be sure to regard the companies in the courtship as well. I think sometimes there is too much emphasis on ways we can “rip off” a company.

I have never tried using RR at Wal-Mart and am a little timid to do so. They will probably look at me like I’m crazy.

    • Rachael

Being able to use wags rr at walmart will increase the amount of purchases I make at wags. For instance today I used my rr at walmart, then on the way home I stopped at wags, paid cash and got more rr. Had I not spent my rr at walmart, I would not have stopped at wags again this week and got more rr. Also, I normally do not buy anything at wags that generates $1 rr because of the difficulty of finding cheap fillers. I will start looking at those buys now.

    • sara

      @mel

I’m with you on this one, you know how many people that never shop at Wags before, will start wagging just to turn around and use the RR’s at hellmart. Walmart doesn’t want any kind of competition don’t matter at what cost. Even if it means the end of the RR program, the use of the card, (like the test market) will eventually be everywhere.

I hope nobody whines when the RR’s end. 🙁

  13. Carrie B

I just went to my Wal-mart the other day and had two internet coupons that I printed for the same product and they said that they would only except one because they were exactly the same, I explained to them that when websites place coupons out there they let you print a limit of two and they are exactly the same when you print them, but they would not take them because the numbers on them were the same, I told them that I have never ever heard of such a policy and have not had this problem with any cashiers here before so she called the manager over and the manager said that same thing and wanted me to give her the cashier’s names that took the coupons in the past, I told her that I did not remember. But this new coupon policy says nothing of the sort about only accepting one internet coupon so I will surely have this on hand the next time that I visit Walmart.

    • Kiesha

The actual scannable bar code is the same but there is a different number for each print. The coupons.com have a number under, slightly right from the expiration date. Smartsource has an offer ID # and pin number in ~ the same location. Offer ID will be the same but pin will be different on different prints. Next time just point those out to them. 🙂

      • Carrie B

Thank you so much for this information, I will defantly point this out to them next time..

  14. Dawn

Hello–Collin–Thanks for your hard work. Many savings I owe to you. Regarding this “overage” change to the Walmart policy. I went to Walmart two days ago–Thursday and used cpns of course. I was about to remind the cashier to adjust down some of the values but she scanned them and all were accepted. I thought it was a fluke!

  15. Linds

So that is what they say. Hopefully they don’t take back there word next week. I HATE WALMART and refuse to shop there for anything. I can’t believe anyone would actually want to give them business. I can’t stand companies like that and I’m a pretty easy person to please!!!!

    • anon

I LOVE Walmart. In our town with huge unemployment, it has been an absolute godsend to so many of my friends who have jobs there. I know we always hear bad things about the store, but if you know people who work there, ask them about it. You get a much different picture. The friends that I have that work there LOVE it. I love the ones in my area – they feel small down home to me because we are a tight knit community and we all know the people who work there.

      • Indymom

My husband Did actually work there a few years ago. He was hired part time for night stock, he had a full time day job and was needing some extra money so they offered him 15-20 hrs a week. His very first week there, after being promised 15-20 hours with no benefits, they started telling him to work 8 hour shifts. They said that was the rules and IF they knew he had another job then they wouldn’t have hired him because that is against store policy. They basically told him that he was lying about having another job and if he didn’t get back to work he was fired! While there, he found that other stockers were working “part-time” with no benefits, but were being forced to work 40+. Of course he had to make it to his othe job on time so he quit after only a few day, but I can tell that other employees at this particular store aren’t happy either, they all have bad attitude act like they are afraid to even talk to a customer, or take a coupon out of fear! I guess YMMV when it comes to happy Walmart employees

  16. Nicole

I just returned from Walmart, and boy was it a hassle! I had the new coupon policy in hand, and talked to two managers. After waiting 15 minutes, one manager told me I could only use one coupon at a time. The other manager told me it was incorrect, and the coupons would be used for the overall purchase price. I used six of the the $3/1 Purex 3-in-1 sheets coupons, and purchased other things as well. I received $0.23 back in “change.” They informed me they knew nothing about the new policy.

  17. Jonna

Slightly off topic but I know that someone will know the answer! Can I use a B1G1 coupon and pair it with a $3 off of TWO coupon??? For some reason I’m having a brain fart about this..LOL 😛

    • Bee

      No.

    • JOE

you would need to purchase 3 items to use them both.

      • mammafaus

You CAN do B1G1 AND coupons for 2 of the same at PUBLIX ! Great coupon policies.

        • MissieB

Actually you can only do that at Publix if the B1G1 is manufacturer coupon and the 2 are store coupons for vise versa. You can stack the B1G1 with one manufacturer coupon as the extra coupon goes towards the item you are paying for in order to get the free item. You can run all 3 manufacturers through at Publix since their machines do not item/coupon match, but it is not proper to do so.

        • BrandyK

Not if they are both manufacturer’s coupons. That is illegal coupon usage. B1G1 coupon applies to the one you get free. Then you may use a x/1 coupon for the one you’re buying to get the free one, but not a x/2, since the bogo has already applied to one item. As a pp mentioned, you would need to purchase 3 items to use one bogo mq and one x/2 mq.
Just because it “works” doesn’t make it legit.

  18. Cally

My Walmart has been taking competitor coupons for quite a long time. They would even take the Albertson’s doublers. My question is, if they new policy states the coupon has to be for a specific amount; does that mean they wont take the doublers anymore? They do say they will double up to $1.00 value. But I’m wondering if this is going to make it so we can’t do the doublers at Walmart anymore???

  19. vio

oh i am so upset…went to my walmart and tried to buy gain 1.68 one and use 3 coupon, then i wanted to use Walgreens RR oh my,i’ve been accused of doing fraud using these coupons. When i showed coupon policy store manager said oh that’s even better, she said i’m doing illegal stuff here by making up my own policies 🙁

    • mtnhoney

OMG! Corporate call in your future, right?

      • vio

called CS and i’ve been told that i will receive a call from store manager…like that will help…
I went to another Walmart too. No go for $3Gain coupon $1,86 Gain sheets. But i did got .97c Purex 3-1 sheets and was able to use $3coupon for that…Don’t know why machine would accept one coupon but not another. Then finally i gave my Walgreens RR,cashier said that they don’t accept those, then store manager cqame over, said that they never accepted coupons with different logos and never will. She also confirmed that this is first time when she sees the new policy and it’s probably not real. Oh my.
So if smb know good Walmart that accepts Walgreens RR in Chicagoland area i would be happy to know.

    • Bee

Maybe some Wal-Mart employees would have a better future in law enforcement.

      • GInger

That’s a good one. Very funny!

    • Lisa

I had really bad experiences in Tampa today. They wouldn’t accept Walgreen RR’s. It’s been a long time since I went to a Wal-Mart and I guess it’ll be a long time before I even consider going back.

  20. Vicki

I went to Wal-Mart and they handed me cash money for my overage this morning!!!!!!!!!

  21. rachael

I went to walmart and the manager would NOT take RR….going to a different walmart with receipt and RR with corporate policy in hand to fix the problem.

  22. Jessica t

I went to wal mart with a friend and she got $18 worth of stuff. After coupons she paid nothing and they gave her .36 back!! I was shocked and jealous:)

  23. Toni S.

I had to make a trip to Walmart this morning to see if their new coupon policy would be honored at my store. I went with a Kroger Catalina, two coupons over the price of the items and a COPY OF THEIR NEW COUPON POLICY. I was so surprised when the cashier took the catalina and I got .55 in overage. I always knew Walmart was full of surprises, but this is the first pleasant surprise I’ve had. Maybe I can now go to Walmart and shop without dreading to checkout.

  24. Lisa

Went to two Wal-marts in Tampa today. Both gave me problems with Walgreen’s RR. Wound up just leaving my purchases in the carts and walked out. They 1) “Don’t have a product listed”, “Walgreens are register rewards not catalinas”, are limited to one per purchase defined by them as “one purchase equals an entire cart full”. I talked with assistant managers, shift managers” and got nowhere. One shift manager even said “Go ahead and call corporate. They will just call us here and they will follow the policy I just told you.” I am MAD. Did anyone find a good Walmart in Tampa that will take RR’s or is there no such thing as a good Wal-mart. 🙂

  25. MissieB

Went to my WalMart here in Huntsville, AL. Went to the self check out. It refused my coupon because it was more than the Gain dryer sheets. When the person working the self check register came over, he said he could only take the coupon is he adjusted it down. I told him it is Walmart’s new policy to take coupons which have overage and was told he would only do it if I would allow him to adjust it down. Call to Walmart corporate next…

  26. GInger

Our Walmarts (Fishers, IN) our such a pain if you use a computer generated coupon with or without the coupon policy in tow, that I don’t even both to shop there anymore. I hope the rest of you have more success!

    • Anon

It seems like all the central indiana stores are a pain… I’ve had to call corporate before and had my store manager call me and basically smart off to me… hate it there! They act like they are taking your coupons and then don’t ok them and keep them. I stopped going there completly,,, then a few weeks ago I went in the Anderson, IN one to use my Maalox $5/1 coupon and some U by Kotex ones,,,,, they took everyone AND gave overage.. and that was a few weeks ago! You should consider trying them again!

  27. Beth

I just went to Walgreens AND Walmart today because I wanted to experiment with the overage thing and the RR coupons. I got $4.00 in RR at Walgreens and brought them to Walmart, I bought
    2 .97c rayovac with a 1.00 coupon each
the .97c floss with 1.00 coupon
the mens dove for 3.97 with a 2.00 coupon
an oral b toothbrush for 1.50 with a 1.00 off coupon
3 packs of gum as fillers, My kids are obsessed with gum
It came to $1.57 with tax that I paid out of pocket, the lady rang the 1.00 off coupons off the .97 c items, and also did the RR’s without even blinking!

  28. MissieB

Has anyone had any luck using the Gain coupon for the dryer sheets?

    • Adrianna

I had no problem using it at Walmart and Meijer for liquid and dryer sheets =)

  29. tabitha

Used my RR’s at WM today, it did beep, and the cashier had to ask a lead cashier. After a bit of fuss, she got the computer to take them. Yippee!

  30. Laura

It amazes me how Walmart can issue a new coupon policy and not inform its store managers.
I can’t believe managers are accusing customers of “making up their own policies”. Corporate needs to do a better job of informing the managers and the managers need to inform CS and cashiers. There is so much inconsistency. I think there needs to be an undercover coupon shopper who travels around and sets these store straight. Years ago when I was a cashier we had “spot” shoppers who checked out how cashiers treated customers. It helped rate stores in areas and helped trouble shoot stores that weren’t up to par.

  31. Rachel

I’m afraid to even try to use coupons at my WM anymore. It sucks! Back when Kraft had those coupons where if you bought 5 Kraft products you could get $5 off. There was a sticker ON all of the Kraft products that were eligible, you just had to go to a website and print off the coupon. The cashier REFUSED to use it because it wouldn’t let her take $5 off. She said they wouldn’t take my internet coupon if it wouldn’t ring up right. So I made her call the manager over and she REFUSED to take it too. WTH? I emailed corporate and they had the local manager call me, but nothing ever got resolved. I’m angry just thinking about it!

  32. J

Just tried using $3.00 off your next order coupon (manufacture with remit address from Smiths) at my Wal-Mart. She said she couldn’t take them…if there wasn’t a HUGE line I would have had her call over her manager, but I was already getting dirty looks from people behind me!! Oh and to Rachel…it does say in the policy that the coupon must scan (if my printer isn’t working properly then yes I am out of luck!! Manager after manager has expained that it does need to scan).

  33. John

    Hello all,

I have an interesting story. For MONTHS my wife and I have been going to Wal-Mart for the savings, and my wife has become an avid “coupon shopper.” Last night when she was checking out, she was told she could only use 1 coupon per item. We have never had this issue before. She was told it is store policy. I looked up the policy online. They state that, ” The following are guidlines and Limitations: Only one coupon per item is permitted. So I called the corporate location and voiced my concern. I was told per their policy that was correct. Has anyone else run into this? As I told the person on the phone, their policy contradicts it self two lines below:” Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.” As you can see in this line it states that “Coupons” may exceed the price of the “Item.” They had no response. I would not have argued too much if it stated “Coupon” and “item.” Looking for a little help/feedback, or we are going to use Wal-Mart less…..
Now for clarification, we generally use a P&G coupon, printed Manufacturer’s coupon, and maybe one from local paper. Not trying to copy coupns or print multiple of same coupon. Rarely do we have more than one coupon per item.

    • Tracey

Are you trying to use 2 manufacturer’s coupons on the same item.

Example: You want to buy 1 bottle of Tide and are you are trying to get them to accept 2 Tide Manunfacturer’s coupons on that 1 item.

      That is a no-no everywhere.

You can use a manufacturer’s coupon and a store coupon on 1 item but never 2 manufacturer’s coupons on only 1 item.

      • John

“Are you trying to use 2 manufacturer’s coupons on the same item.

Example: You want to buy 1 bottle of Tide and are you are trying to get them to accept 2 Tide Manunfacturer’s coupons on that 1 item.

        That is a no-no everywhere.”

How is this a no-no everywhere if the coupon does not have limitations printed on the coupon?

        • Bee

I have tons of coupons laid out in front of me where I have clipped them. I have yet to find one that does not specify “One coupon per item purchased” or a variation meaning the same thing.

There is tons of money to be saved without trying to do this and being branded as “one of those people” when you shop.

In the long run, it really doesn’t pay to be one of these shoppers as the store personnel WILL recognize you next time and have a pre-conceived notion of whether you are going to try and rip them off.

Until Wal-Mart issues store coupons that are stackable, you are only going to be able to use one coupon per item.

You could price match to another store and THEN use a coupon on top of that. Another matter entirely.

          • John

Well, I am not trying to rip anyone off! Besides this is not something you come accross too often. Most of the time it is one coupon. But there are times where we have come accross this, whether it is a printable manufacturer’s coupon or sent in the mail.
But I can tell you in my local paper there is a Farmland coupon for which has no stuipulation to it. This coupon is in the Smart Source Magazine that came with the Sunday paper here in Wisconsin. I will quote the fine print for you… CONSUMER: Use only to purchase the product(s) specified. Void if transferred or reproduced. You pay sales tax. Any other use constitutes fraud. Retailer: Send coupon to Farmlands Foods…. etc.
So, why could I not use multiple??

            • Bee

Well, from the standpoint of parsing it to death legally, it would seem that you could use more than one.

However, in the end, any store manager retains the discretion to refuse coupons and to interpret the coupon policy. They are just as likely to look at you and say, “Well, get an attorney and sue us.” Their relationships with their vendors are just as important as their customer relationships.

Even when it is extremely straight forward, there is the chance that a certain store will not accept certain coupons.

So, in the end, using coupons is as much a matter of acclimating to the local standards. All of us have pled our cases in certain stores, but as long as I have actually been using coupons (years and years now) it is understood that one manufacturer’s coupon per item is the limit.

I have lived here for more than a decade and will likely have to live in the same area a while longer. Why push my luck and have them try to refuse anything I bring in?

I just used 2 Gain product & 2 Best Life Butter coupons and the cashier accepted all 4, as it was for 2 different products I guess (Fab Softener, Dryer Sheets, Tub butter, Butter sticks). I occasionally have 2 or 3 coupons on the same item (I have 4 Best Life Butter Coupons left), so I buy 2 or 3 of that item at one time.

Are you saying they should not accept more than 1 per transaction?

For Example: Oscar Mayer Carving Board Sandwich Meat, I had 2 $2 off coupons a few weeks ago and I used both at the same time. 2 Best Life Tub Butters, 2 Gain Fab Softeners.

Hello. This article was really fascinating, especially because I was browsing for thoughts on this issue last Wednesday.

So is there a specific answer on the RR yet??? I really want to go try to use them at my Walmart, but I’m scared. I hate dealing with coupon problems! 🙂

OK I am rather furious because I just spent 52 minutes in line for 15 items. I had the New Coupon Policy in Hand and to my surprise the Cashier was really friendly, but it wasn’t until the manager had to come over and override a $3 Sweatshirt that was on clearance that the problems began. First she had no clue of the difference between a “Store” and “Manufacture” Coupon. She insisted that they “DO NOT” take competitor coupons either. After being in line for 20 mins I asked for her to contact the store manager and told her that I did not care to discuss this with her any further. She walked away and told her co worker “She just hates me because I am right”. Long story short four asst. Managers later, they came to conclusion that as long as it “scanned” they would accept it.

Do any Catalinas scan? Or do they all have to be manually entered?

    • Sandra Roberts

That’s what happened to me when the Walmart around me opened. I stay clear of that store because it left a bad taste in my mouth. I’d call corporate about it.

  37. Sandra Roberts

I used 2 $3 off Gain coupons today and they went through with no problem! The Fab Softner was $4.29, but the dryer sheets was $1.87. She scanned both $3 coupons and when the register asked if that was the correct amount for the coupon, she pressed enter! lol I got both for FREE!!

I asked her if she knew the coupon policy had changed Friday and she told me no she didn’t. So they are not on the ball with this! But I had the policy with me if I needed it.

I had a Winn Dixie Store coupon for $5 off $35 purchase & wasn’t able to use it.

    • Coupon Princess

      Did it beep ?

      • Sandra Roberts

No I asked if I could use it, the cashier asked the CSM and she said nice and loudly NO! lol I was 1 checkout away from where she was

        • Coupon Princess

Sandra we don’t have Winn Dixie’s Here but does there coupon say Manufacturer on it???

We have Jewel and I have one that says $3/30 “Store Coupon” so it wouldn’t work 🙁

Here is a suggestion for everyone:

Since Walmart has updated the coupon policy, I encourage everyone to Email, Fax and even call Walmart CEO on complimenting the change on policy. Also, please share your horrible experience with Michael Duke. Ask him for his advice on making your future shopping experience smooth as possible avoiding past experience of you and others. Lastly, share this thread, other thread and blogs.

Whoa. Returned from Walmart after a fabulously wonderful shopping trip. Easy check-out with coupons was a definite first.

Purex 3-in-1 trial size .97 – used 3.00 Purex coupon
Avery card printing sets 6.22 – used 5.00 coupon

I bought two of each and when it totaled up, I was negative .90 so I threw in a pack of gum and paid a few quarters for the balance. Amazing and I’m still excited about it! Thank you, Walmart, for revolutionizing your coupon policy and giving us the full coupon value! (since they receive it back when submitted even if we didn’t benefit before)

I decided to drive in the opposite direction of the store I was at Yesterday and to my amazement I had a wonderful shopping experience. Not only did they price match several items without hassle but they took the time to review the New Policy, because they were not informed out it yet. I had brought both copies (online and the Pdf. w/pics). I was able to use my Manuf. Catalinas (OYNO), receive my entire order for free and get $4+ back in cash and the employees “Thanked” me for shopping there and being patient with them as they learn this new policy.

A little side note: Keep the policies on hand, especially because one shows the pics of the Catalinas and the other talks about “applying the overage to the basket:” or “cash back”. And after clarifying the difference between a “Store coupon” and a “Manufac. coupon w/ the competitors logo” on it, you should be good to go!

i went today to walmart in round lake i tried to pay with a rr the manager looked at the rr and made faces and said there was no way i would be geting 10 worth of stuff for free she made us feel like we were stealing i explained they were catalinas and she should look at there coupon policy i called corporate they would look in to it and call me in 2days next time ill take a copy of their policy or corporate should train them on new policys

  41. Liz

Elk Grove Village is refusing to follow this new policy. I asked and provided a copy and they said that they weren’t aware of a change in policy and couldn’t find it on the Walmart site. They refused to allow me to show them where it was on the site and did nothing to accommodate me after I waited patiently for 45 mintues. I’ve placed a call in to corporate, but be prepared for poor treatment at that store.

  42. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Not only are they NOT abiding by the new coupon overage policy, but the Manager stated they no longer (as of yesterday) will be taking Internet coupons for free items. WTF? If you ask me this new coupon policy SUCKS.

  43. Jennifer

Elizabeth City, NC store sucks. Every manager in there is rude. After standing there for 45 minutes fighting with them over the catalinas coupons they finally let me use them. I called corporate while I was standing there (of course I was right) and when I left. Lets see if the store manager calls me back. Last time they never did.

    • Jennifer

To top everything off they had a shift manager call me last night and tell me I was wrong. My catalinas coupons from walgreens were competitors’ coupons. I told him he is wrong and I don’t know why he called me because I said I wanted to speak to the store manager.

  44. Emily

Horrible experience! They would not accept my register rewards. I tried to fight it but I did not have the coupon policy with me. They also told me they would not accept my internet coupons because they looked like they were photocopied. I was so mad…luckily a different manager came over and let me use the printed ones, but he still wouldn’t budge on the register rewards. I dont even know if it is worth shopping there. They have just horrible customer service. I almost forgot, they would not give me overage…they reduced the coupon down to price of the product.

  45. Samantha

Wal Mart in Ozark Missouri was GREAT about the new coupon policy. We had recieved 2 free coupons for Platex Sippy Cups (we bought some and after a day they leaked) and they were for 7.99 off. Out sippy cups were only 6.98 so the overage was taken off the rest of out things! =] The cashier wanted to ask his manager (NO biggie!) and the manager even said he thought it was a great idea and was going to print off the coupon policies for each register =] Woo Hoo!

    • Alisha

The one on South Campbell in Springfield is really good about the coupon policy change.. The one here in Nixa, is very unaware of it so I can see it being a huge problem when I go there this week to use my $3 off Purex coupons, but I am ready to stand my ground for my overage and full credit.

  46. happy1038

I just went to Walmart and bought 4 bags of pedigree dog food 4 lbs. The regular price is $4.37 each and I used (4) $3.00 off Pedigree coupons from the RP 3/13 insert to get each bag for $1.37 each. I was so excited and now my little Toto has food for like 6 months 🙂

  47. R

Walmart SUCKs!!! I tried to use a catalina Manufacturer coupon from Meijer at walmart today and the cashier would not even look at my coupon or accept it no matter what!! UGH. I wish walmart would bother to update their employee’s if they’re going to change their policies.

  48. Stacey

So when Walmart says it accepts competitors coupons, does that mean it will accept a Target printable? Provided the other requirements are met (exp. date, specific price, same size, etc)?

  49. Stacey

So am I to understand that Walmart would accept a printed Target coupon, provided it had a specific amount off and an expiration date? And the products matched exactly?

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
