I hate to say it, but I’m so mad at Kroger for their coupon shenanigans, I don’t even want their chips!!

What is everybody so mad about? I feel like I’m missing something. I was irritated last time I was there and the cashier scoured my receipt to make sure I didn’t have any ecoupons for products I had a paper coupon for, but I can’t really be mad that they’re finally enforcing the rule. I never purposely used an ecoupon and paper coupon since the ecoupons clearly state that they aren’t to be used in combination with other MQs, but I also don’t really keep track of what coupons I load to the card. Now I just have to pay more attention. Is there something else people are upset about? I know Houston area stores are stopping doubling/tripling, which sucks for them. I’d be really upset if my store stopped doubling. But I’d just have to start shopping more exclusively at Meijer 🙂

That policy, and they are doing away with double coupons in the Houston area. The rest of us are worried that this policy may become chainwide.

It just annoys me that in today’s economy, they are making it harder to save money. I have always understood their policy about e-Qs and manu Qs, but they won’t take a Kroger Q and a manu Q. My local Kroger customer service is horrible, so this has just been the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back. I have a shiny new Publix just down the road, and they love Qs of all shapes and sizes! Their customer service is phenomenal, too.

Are there Kroger coupons for products other than Kroger brand items? I mean, I get coupons from Kroger all the time, but they say they are MQs and they double, so I’ve never tried to use one of them with a MQ I obtained somewhere else. I’d assume they could be used at other places too, I’d just cut the Kroger off at the bottom, but I’ve honestly never tried.

I don’t know, I’m annoyed with it, but I’m not as mad as everyone seems to be. I guess there are people that truly didn’t know that e-Qs and MQs aren’t supposed to be combined, but a lot of people that are so mad about it knew that they weren’t supposed to do it, but took advantage of the fact that it was never enforced.

thanks for your comment. I am a cashier and I hate it when people get made at me over a change in policy that I have nothing to do with. I am just doing my job. If people read the coupon policy it clearly states now that you cannot combine paper and e-coupons

At my krogers all the cashiers have their own coupon policy! One cashier will tell you one thing and the other will tell you something else! For Ex. My store triples q’s up to .50 and one day I was told that only 2 like coupons will be tripled the rest will be given at face value! I had never been told this before! Then some cashiers tell us that this rule applys to all coupons (you can only use to 2 like coupons per day)!?! I have never had any of the cashiers check my e-coupons to make sure I did not have printed ones too, but my mom says she has had it happen before! I really had no clue that you weren’t supposed to use both, but it automaticaly takes it off! Not like I can help it! I don’t mind there being rules/coupon policy, but everyone needs to stick to them so the customer knows what to expect!

I hate to say it but with the show extreme couponing airing on TLC most Kroger stores will be changing their policy. Some of those people use 20 or 30 coupons at a time and they would double each one. I hate to see them ruin it for the rest of us but its going to happen!

    Crystal:
I know for a fact that this new adherence to the “policy” was not announced at my local Kroger. I was there only a few days before I read about it on a message board and then when I went back in 4 days later there was a sign.

Also- I can’t run my paper coupons through without entering my card because they won’t double them. It really burns me- if I happen to have an ecoupon it will apply and I can’t use my paper coupon. I don’t want to have to go through that of canceling the ecoupon, adding my paper and making sure it doubles. It’s such a headache.

I’ll be heading to my local Kroger for these chips but heading over about 45 minutes early so I can actually park in the lot for the store and get in line. It was in the recent circular so I’ll be crowd surfing to get anywhere in the store I think.

I wish I had Krogers in Charlotte 🙁 feel sorry about the coupon promo though; i read about it, i don’t like it.

At Fred Meyer and other stores they quit doing the e-coupon/mfg coupon doubling because the store was losing money. Many stores are doing this. Safeway also will not let you do both a paper coupon and an e-coupon which is new for them too. At FM if you have a coupon the is more then your e-coupon you should not scan your card till after they do your paper coupons. Now our computers have totally taken the guess work out of this and once a e-coupon is done it cannot be taken out with out voiding the item and re ringing it because if you take it off and put it back on in the same transaction once you push total it will automatically take the e-coupon off again. If you do a paper coupon and it is rung first our machines will just not take off the e-coupon and if you try to use a paper coupon after an e-coupon has been applied our machines will say e-coupon already used on product and we are not allowed to override that.
