I use EVCO as a moisturizer and a health supplement. I bought it to treat my “chicken skin”. I’ve been using it for 2 weeks and my “chicken skin” is looking so much better! I place 1 Tbsp EVCO, 1 scoop High Protein Slim Fast Chocolate, 1 c skim milk, and ice in a magic bullet; blend to smoothie consistency and drink up. Tastes like a mounds candy bar-yummy!!

    • ellaci

Could you tell us what is “chicken skin”? Just curious, have never heard that term…..

I got in on this a month or so ago, the last time you mentioned it. I’d been wanting to start incorporating coconut oil into my diet, and it really tastes good. I have used it for frying sopes, used it in an asian coleslaw dressing, and most recently used it to make homemade deodorant. I have to say, the deodorant really works great, much better than the most popular all natural deodorant or the mineral stone stuff (that one still contains sodium). Since switching to deodorant from antiperspirant my underarms do not itch, I have no staining on my clothing… and coconut oil has natural antibacterial properties so it inhibits the odor-causing bacteria. You can buy pre-made coconut deodorant too.

    • loveishe

Do tell! I’d love to try the deo.

      • Norma

        1/4 c baking soda
1/4 c arrowroot powder (or cornstarch)
6-8 T coconut oil in solid form

Mix together. You can keep it in a jar and apply with fingertips, or refill an old applicator (which is what I did). Keep it in the fridge til you’re ready to use. Once you apply, I have found I need to rub it in, otherwise the arrowroot and baking soda end up lumping together.

I make organic soap with coconut oil as one of the fats. So smooth.

    • Norma

Oooh, nice. How do you do it, if you don’t mind my asking?

    • fairydust

This is what I’m looking forward to using it for – soapmaking! Well… and cooking, but mostly soapmaking 🙂

  4. amochamommy

Thank you I missed it the last time! I use this in mine and my daughters hair…such a nice smell =)

Since I missed the last Amazon deal on this I looked around the web and found this deal last night… 2 jars of Nutiva coconut oil (29oz each), free shipping, $10 off order off order $29.97 with code (FB11FAN-1Z) for a grand total of $33.98 on nutiva.com !! Cant wait to try it!!

    • Priscilla

if I did the math right, the deal you found cost more per oz. than the deal on Amazon. I always figure cost per oz. so, I can compare

      • helen

You are right, this deal is better but the nutiva.com deal was the best one at the time and it is pretty consistent. I just posted bc you never know when Amazon is going to change their prices. Last time this deal was on, many people had their orders cancelled with Amazon for some reason??

  6. LifeAsAMomma

Great! I got it this time! We currently use it right now for an alternative to lotion and I have many plans to use it for more things as well!

  7. Diane

I got mine!!!!! I was told many years ago that coconut oil is one of the best things to use on hair and skin. I stopped using it because of the price. Couldn’t pass up this deal. Thanks

    • ellaci

I saw another poster talked about using it on her hair. How do you apply it? Since I use Nutiva in cooking and as a skin lotion, it seems like it would be “oily” on the hair. Do you use it as a pre-treat and then shampoo it out? Thanks in advance for any info! 🙂

  8. Amy

Hooray! I got this last time and couldn’t believe how much better it tastes compared to the last stuff I had. Try making popcorn with it. Awesome!

My 3 year old son has a rare disorder (CFC) that causes severe eczema, and coconut oil is by FAR the best relief we have found for him – even moreso than prescription steroid creams. We put it on his skin right after his bath, and the next day it feels amazing. I HIGHLY recommend coconut oil for anyone who suffers from dry and itchy skin. It has been a Godsend for us!

    • Priscilla

Thanks for sharing. We are dealing with eczema. Recently went to an allergy Dr to find out what our son maybe allergic to. I’ll have to ask about CFC & if that could be causing his issue.

  10. Penny

I LOVE LOVE LOVE coconut oil. I put it in my hair and it has been making it so smooth. I put it in and let it soak for a few hours and then wash it out. It’s also great for Alzheimer’s. I’m going to be making my mom some coconut almond chocolates.

I want to buy this at the Subscribe & Save price, we use coconut oil in our whole wheat bread recipe and in our popcorn and even as a spread over our wheat bread or in our oatmeal, but Amazon will not allow me to bypass using my gift card balance (which I am saving for a book purchases, coconut oil is part of our grocery budget) if I subscribe & save. I can only bypass the gift card balance if I order it at the higher price, boo! Still cheaper than other places, though, so I will order. Thanks for the heads-up!

  12. bronxmama

FYI if you really like coconut oil: Amazon has it on sale for $41.38 for 54 oz/2pk or $35.17 with subscribe & ship which makes it only .33 cents an ounce! cheaper than the .39 cents with the 15oz/2pk.

    • jenny

Thank you! I go through this stuff like crazy so I am deffiantly getting this deal.

  13. Mary L. Bankhead

norma–can u share your deodorant recipe??

    • Norma

Go back to my post, I replied to a request there! I need to go back to another post Collin had, someone with a website posted, I went to her site and found the recipe, so I have to say it’s not MY recipe, but my goodness, it is awesome! I went all day today without any smell coming through! Take THAT all natural store-bought brand!! 🙂

  14. Jessica

Seen this deal many times and read alot of great reviews..so this time I ordered it! I looked in my local grocery store 1 small jar of this was $9 so 2 for $13.72 is a steal! Thanks! I hope I find lots of uses for it too!

  15. lana2201

    YAY!! Thanks!

  16. Carla

I got cancelled on last time, but I’ll try again…

  17. M

I think using EVCO instead of oil or lard when making homemade tortillas really gives them a wonderful flavor!

  18. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

This is such a good deal! Thank you for posting this!! I was bummed I missed it last time. I love coconut oil – it has so many uses!!!

  19. Sarah

I am loving this stuff too. I use it for my dry (overwashed) hands and on my bagels with some jam (YUMMY) or for dessert try this. Toast your bagel-spread with coconut oil and top with Nutella! Delicious!!! My friend had surgery and it removed all of the tape “residue”. It’s great for so many things and it is a healthier option than butter . I also used it for popcorn (I liked it but, my kids didn’t, I did notice the flavor but I’m a coconut fan). I’m excited about all its other uses too. I would love to see the deodrant recipe too. I have this on S&S and, it’s def a keeper!!

  20. Kelly

Just wondering about the Subscribe & Save. I have signed up for items before but was not sure how this works exactly. Once you sign up for that price, can it fluctuate for your next shipment or are you locked in at the price when you subscribe & save?
    Thanks!!

    • Norma

Hey Kelly, you lock it in for that price until you stop your auto-delivery. Not sure if changing the frequency would void your price tho. I think I want to get mine more often!

      • Kathryn

EVCO cured my baby’s thrush in less than 24 hours! All I had to do was rub a little in her mouth. Also great as a breastfeeding creme! It fits wonderfully into my alkaline diet, so satisfying and healthful at the same time!
