If you are a frequent customer of ExxonMobil, now is the time to sign up for the Speedpass! Your Speedpass (in the form of either a key tag or car tag) is a “contactless” payment system that provides you with a quick and easy way to pay for purchases at participating Exxon and Mobil stations nation-wide and is easier and more secure than using a credit card. Through June 30th, you can save 15¢ per gallon in the form of a rebate (up to a maximum of 100 gallons) when you use your Speedpass device.

Here’s what you need to do….
* Head over here and sign up for a Speedpass account
* Once you sign up and receive your Speedpass device(s) in the mail, simply log into My Account to activate your device(s), then click on the “Submit” button where the promotional offer is displayed on your “My Profile” page
* The credit amount of 15¢ per gallon will be one lump sum, placed on your credit/debit card statement when you reach 100 gallons or after 60 days, whichever comes first.
* You have until 6/30/2011 to register for this offer. Then you have 60 days from the day you registered to save 15¢ per gallon.
* Purchases in Louisiana and New Jersey do NOT quality. In FL offer available only at participating locations. Offer may not be combined with any other Speedpass offers. Excludes business and fleet card accounts. Allow minimum of 90 days to receive rebates.

** If you are a New Jersey or Louisiana resident, do not fret as you can still snag a *HOT* offer from Speedpass. Through June 30th, New Jersey or Louisiana residents can snag a $20 ExxonMobil Gift Card for signing up and activating a new Speedpass account by July 31st. Click here (and scroll down the page) for more information.

Not familiar with Speedpass and all its features? Well, here is some info for you…

The Speedpass is available in 2 different ways: a key tag or a car tag.
*The Speedpass Key Tag (as pictured above) is a small hand-held device about 1.5 inches long that can hang on your key ring. It uses a radio frequency reader located in gasoline pumps, convenience store terminals, and car wash kiosks to communicate with the transponder located in your Speedpass key tag. Each device has a unique identification and security code that is transmitted to the reader when you make a purchase, and then your purchase is automatically charged to the credit or debit card linked to your Speedpass device. Click here to see a demo about how it works. How cool is that!

*The Speedpass Car Tag is a small, square device that discreetly fits inside the rear window of your car, on the same side as your fuel door. Just like the Speedpass Key Tag, the Car Tag also activates the Speedpass technology. At Exxon and Mobil stations where Speedpass is accepted, you can use your car tag at all Mobil fuel pumps nationwide and at Exxon fuel pumps only in New Jersey.

I just wanted to let everyone know I joined speed pass last time Colin told us about a deal they had and it’s awesome. It’s really easy to use and you can link it right to your debit card, plus you can use it inside. Anyway, just giving my 2 cents! Thanks for all of the great posts Collin!

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS A FLEX FUEL VEHICLE AND WHAT IS E-85?

  5. susan

Signed up! I drive a flex fuel vehicle and only use e85 in it. I pass by a Mobil station everyday on my way into work! I am so excited to get the extra savings!

  6. susan

I forgot to add that I have dropped my debit card several times already so this will definitely be worth it for me!

  7. terri

    every bit helps!

  8. DianeG

wow – THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! This is super since our local Exxon has the best price around anyway. Every little bit helps! And thanks to everyone who commented about their experience – sometimes I hesitate on things like this because you never know if they are more hassle then they are worth. – This is a great group!

FYI to anyone who may already have an existing speedpass… I’m currently trying to register for my acct online and its telling me its not found. Just talked to CS and she said that the systems are currently being bogged down due to so many users signing up for the promotion so it may throw invalid errors. Just wanted to give others a heads up that if they get acct not found errors, its probably not them, its the system.

Signed up and told family and friends about it too! Thanks, Colin! You guys are right, every little bit DOES help .. especially when you drive 120 miles RT every day to work, like I do!! This is really going to make a difference. I appreciate it!

  11. Kari

thanks! this is going to be a big help since my husband works an hour away from home.

  12. Jana

sweet! I also have a crazy long commute to work everyday so this is awesome. It also does not exclude deisel! I use deisel and so many offers exclude it. Thanks for the post, I had no idea that you can link it to your debit card. I always saw the ads on the pumps and just assumed you had to have an Exxon credit card.

Anyway to know which fl stations are participating???

  14. autum

fine print says valid for NJ and LA only

    • autum

never mind that was for the gift card but it doesn’t look like nh has it

I link my speedpass to the credit card that will give me 5% back on gas. This will give me at least 30 cents per gallon (15 to 20 cents from my credit card + 15 cents from speedpass). Thank you for posting this.

I love this website and my daily email as I love to save. Unfortunately this is a savings I REFUSE to take advantage of. While all the gas companies had profits over 5 Billion (NOT Millions!!) in just the First Quarter of 2011, Exxon Mobile had the largest at over 10.

Sorry, I don’t feel it is right that these companies make such a huge profit while we get excited to save 15 cents and continue to give the biggest maker even more money.

    • maria

Do you walk to work? How do you avoid buying gas?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I fully agree with you…I will not use Exxon either because they are the worst of the evils. Typically I go to my local Shell, they’re cheaper anyway most times!

  17. Silvia

I had the speedway one and lost my keys. Someone that had it charged up charged up my bank card very badly! Well, moral of the story is please be careful and keep it safe, would recommend you leave it on something that is not your keys.

    • Diana

That is a great suggestion–I didn’t think of that issue!

    • Laurie

I didn’t think of that either! Thank you. I’ll just leave mine in the car in a compartment.

  18. Heather

My exxon also takes bi-lo fuel perks. Can you combine them?

    • Dee

Is this for every Exxon? I did not know that they tookl fuel perks! I thought it wsas just Sunoco

  19. ted axland

I have my speed pass but cannot find my exxon card. I would like to link the two.

Thank you for your assistance, Ted

  20. Leigh Gills

I tried to apply and was told that the credit card I tried to link it to is invalid. I also tried a different card and was told the same thing.
