Thanks for these match ups Collin! I do have a dollar general here πŸ™‚

  2. Ashley

dollar general take coupons? awesome! Does anyone know if big lots does by any chance?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      family dollar also takes coupons!

    • StacyT

Big Lots does not take coupons. I asked just a few days ago.

    • candace

yup…I’ve NEVER had a prob using coupons….even Internet printables. I only use black ink for my coupons too and they’ve ALWAYS taken them πŸ™‚ And my Big Lots Won’t take coupons since they are already a “discount” store πŸ™ Sad because sometimes their prices aren’t any better than other stores!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Our in toledo oh don’t

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

yes my family dollar takes coupons to but the other day one of my internet coupons for visine would not scan and they refused to take it they said if they don’t scan it doesn’t matter if its the same product and the same price the fact that i would get it for free and it wouldn’t scan means they would not take it i don’t know it embarrassed me i don’t think i will go back.

      • Lauren

My Family Dollar in Owenton, KY did that too. If you had a coupon for a $1.00 and the item cost a $1.00, they would not take the coupon; I decided to not shop there ANYMORE.

  3. Ashley

by the way what does worteshire (?) sauce taste like? for 25 cents it maybe worth trying lol

    • Tiffany Noell

Its great for flavoring meat or putting on steak. I alway put some into ground beef when making burgers, and with a marinade for steaks. Oh yeah, and when Im making spaghetti I put some in, it has all kinds of flavors in it

      • candace

absolutly LOVE Worcestershire sauce in a marinade too!!

    • Tee

So glad you asked πŸ™‚ I have two bottles of Lee & Perrin’s (sp) worcestershire sauce that I got for 24 cents and I have no idea what to to with them.

      • Sarah

Make Chex Mix!!! I love to make homemade Chex Mix and I make it Gluten-free for my best friend all the time!!!

    • yustina

i dont know how to explain to you how does it tastes, but to me it tastes pretty good, i like to add splash of worchestershire sauce to marinade meat or if you like salisbury steaks/hamburger steaks you can add it too to make gravy

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

It is a great meat tenderizer.

    • Ashley

mmmmm your ideas are making me hungery! lol thanks for the responses, will try it!

      • Jen

I also use worcestershire sauce in my sloppy joes….ground beef, ketchup, worcestshire sauce, mustard, 1 can of tomato soup, vinegar, and brown sugar…YUM!

      • Chris M.

Whatsthishere sauce (as we call it!) is also used in homemade barbecue sauces!

        • Ashley

          lol love that name!

    • Bonnie

It is a “must have” for homemade french onion soup (a VERY simple dish!).

      • Debbie

Bonnie, do you have a good recipe for french onion soup? A friend got me to try it at Panera & I love it, but it would be great to make it at home. The can soup just isn’t very good.

    • Lisa

I use it when I make the Rachel Ray’s meatballs. Google them, they are good!

  4. Bobbi

Dollar General also has Sunny D for $1. I had coupons for $.55/1 that I printed from coupons.com (I don’t think they are still available), so they were $.45.

    • Jennifer S

What size is the Sunny D?

      • Bobbi

It’s the 64 oz bottle. My store has Original and Strawberry Orange flavors. We hadn’t tried the Strawberry Orange before…I like it! πŸ™‚

        • Jennifer S

Thanks I found my $0.55 coupons I will ck my DG when I go this week.

          • Debbie

If you are close to a BiLo they double the coupons up to .60 & I just got 2 64oz sunny d free, plus 20 cents overage.

  5. stacy

i wasnt aware they take internet coupons anyone confirm im in mass

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

They do take internet coupons. They have new posters in their windows advertising that they will take regular coupons along with internet coupons.

    • jenntrevis

Family Dollar and Dollar General both take regular coupons and internet coupons. Dollar General has a new poster in most windows that advertises that they will take both.

    • Pngwn

They must take internet coupons, since the $5 off coupon is printed directly from their site, along with other coupons. They also have the Glade Automatic Spray Starter Kit one at their site. Didn’t realize they offered coupons on their site! Great to know!

  6. Carol

What zip are you using for the $4 Glade?

    • Collin

      Try zip code 90210 or 43035! πŸ™‚

      • brenda

The Glade is not $5. It’s $10 at our Dollar General. It’s not on their website, either. Where did you get your info?

        • Courtney

I’m in Arkansas and our Dollar Generals have theirs for $10 too though I did find 2 in one Dollar General store that had a $5 sticker on it and got them for $1.41 each after taxes. I’m assuming they were trying to get rid of those because they were the Apple Cinnamon scent which is usually out around Christmas.

        • Jessey

just got back from my DG store…and these are $10 here too. 41501

        • Collin

A reader had emailed me about this price… I guess it was regional? πŸ™ Sorry about that.

  7. RobinS

There is also the below coupon in May’s Issue of All you Magazine. Makes it .50 cents!
$1/1 Shedd’s Spread Country Crock Spread, exp. 7-15 (ALL YOU, May ’11)

  8. Summer

The $5 off a $25 dollar purchase is only on Saturday though so just make sure you wait till Saturday to use that.

  9. kelly

do you have to use the coupon at the dollar store will krogers take them??

  10. Aimes

according to the dollar general coupon policy, i don’t think they take internet coupons, but family dollar does.

    • Bobbi

Dollar General does take internet coupons. They even have signs hanging in the store that say they take internet coupons. I just used some there yesterday.

    • Mandy

They take them now. They didn’t in the past but they have signs up saying they do.

  11. mary

tyvm Collin! I have $3/1 Bic Soleil coupons that I can use with DG’s sale.

  12. Nikki

Dollar general does take Internet coupOns, there’s a big sign by their registers. I used the visine q’s a while back to get free visine πŸ™‚

    • kit

      • mada

        thanku

  14. K

My DG won’t take IPs-manager was extremely rude about it (only a .25 one, too!)

    • melissa

it says so right on their website. I hate managers that don’t follow their corp policy or make up their own rules!!
      dollargeneral.com/OurStores/Pages/CouponPolicy.aspx

    • angela

I have stopped shopping at my DG because of how rude the manager is about coupons!

  15. Shell

Has anyone used the $5 dg coupon before manuf. coupons??? I tried last month and was told I couldn’t.

    • Debbie

The cashier holds mine until last because they said it won’t allow all the manufacturers coupons if they use it first. Does it make a difference if they use it first?

  16. Bee

LOL ours does take IP and it’s actually the closest grocery type store to my home. However, although I have stopped in the for YEARS, they still examine my IP coupons like they’ve never seen such a thing.

I just usually pass them by on my way to somewhere else. It’s a shame, as they really have a decent selection and a very clean store.

  17. jessica

Also DG has country crock for $1.50 and in the may all you mag there is a $1.00 off coupon. Butter for only $.50.

  18. brenda

Is anybody finding the Glade for $5? It’d not on their website and it is not $5 at our Dollar General. It’s $10. I even called corporate. No luck!
    Thanks.

    • Courtie

I’m in Arkansas and our Dollar General Stores have theirs for $10 too though I did find 2 Glade kits in one DG that had a $5 sticker on them and they were both $1.41 after taxes with the coupon. I’m assuming they are just trying to get rid of these because they are the apple cinnamon scent which is usually out around Christmas.

      • brenda

Thank you for your help. Not any info on the website that explains this.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

          You’re welcome.

    • RT

I went today and saw glad for $10 not $5 on my way home from work. Only thing I could get was the mustard. The other products they said they don’t have the butter and sauce. Mustard was correct though.

  19. tiffany townsend

There is a country crock coupon in the may issue of allyou mag. $1.00 off could make this almost free!

  20. Joy

The coupon oin my insert for Worcestershire Sauce is $1/1 here in PA, so that means … free
    for me. Yaaaaaah!

  21. Kathryn

I remember people saying one of their dollar stores, either Dollar General or Family Dollar, only lets you use one coupon per transaction. So you have to split them all up? So this is not the case??? I just have never been to Dollar General with coupons, even though I have couponed for over a year.

    • ellekd

I had a really upsetting experience @ a Dollar General in Southern IL. I was told I could not use a Q for each item. Example–if you wanted to buy 3 Sunny D’s you could only use 1 Q and the other 2 would be the regular or sale price. I had a small transaction and was treated sooo rudely, manager even stuck his hand in my face! Like to say talk to the hand? I called corp. office and got a #, emailed explaining my complaint and another call when I heard nada. Promises to call back were not kept. I read their Q policy and it sure seems like they are coupon friendly, even states you can combime a DG with MF. Heard from others in the area they had similiar problems. I wanted to go to a different one this a.m. after work but honestly it was such a bad experience I couldn’t bring myself to go.

      • Bobbi

I’m in southern IL and I’ve never had that problem. I usually go to the DG in Christopher. I just used two printable coupons for $.75/3 Hamburger Helper and $.55/1 Sunny D and they had no problem with it. For some reason the computer didn’t want to take my second printable for the HH, but the cashier pushed it through. Which store gave you such a hard time?

        • ellekd

Hi Bobbi, I was @ the DG in Mt. Vernon, the one on 10th street. They have 3 in MV so I may try another store. Really disappointed the corporate office kept promising it would be looked into and I never did get any return on an email or by phone. Guess we could also price match at Wal-Mart?

  22. Michelle

It’s $10 for the Glade here too in Mid TN. ugh. Oh we’ll it was definitely worth a shot.

  23. willow67

I had to argue with the sales guy at DG today about using 2 BOGO on the Whiskas cat food. Tried to tell me I couldn’t use both, when I bought 4 packages. Their chex mix was only 1.00 if you bought 10, I didn’t have 10 coupons, would have come in handy for my son’s graduation party.

  24. Rebekah

Our local dollar store (not a dollar general) won’t take coupons. I asked why, and the checker looked at me like I was stupid and said “be-CAAAUUSE this is a DOL-LER store” Why would that matter?

    • Allison

Was it a Dollar Tree? I’m pretty sure they don’t take coupons. The only dollar stores I know that take coupons are Family Dollar and Dollar General.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I live in Bloomington, IN and we just had a Dollar Tree open up in a new location (moved to a bigger store). They take coupons, I about fell over when I saw the sign. It can be hit and miss, but I have found some brand name items that have coupons (mostly in the freezer section).

  25. mary

Has anyone else had this problem with manufacturer coupons at DG? I got a coupon in the mail for free zyrtec and the cashier called the manager over because they’re not supposed to take coupon that just state “free item”. Manager (extremely rude) pulled out the newest corporate policy (supposedly they just got it a few days ago) that states they cannot accept coupons for a “free” item — it has to be buy one get one free. I checked their coupon policy when I got home and the one online says that’s the case with INTERNET printed coupons. So I called her back and told her what I was reading from the DG website. She was adamant that the new policy didn’t mention the internet printed coupons, that it was ALL coupons for a free item that they could not accept. I’m thinking to call corporate or email them today to see what the deal is. She (manager) told me that since all of these Extreme Couponing shows are on, people have been trying to scam DG with fake coupons so they had to change their policy. But really DG — an honest to goodness manufacturer coupon?? come on , let’s use some common sense…..

  26. Cindy Drago

I’ve always only used my Dollar General as a place to browse while waiting for my Chinese take-out next door in the strip mall πŸ˜‰ Who knew we could get such couponing deals there too!?!?! LOL No Worchestshire sauce and the Glade was $8 at my store (upstate NY). Other than that, I got everything on my list and a couple of clearance finds.

The Cashier at my checkout was very courteous but he did struggle with all my coupons. They do scrutinize every coupon, even going through my bag to count my Sobe’s. Check out with about 32 items took about 30 minutes. I apologized for the stress and he said it wasnt about me or my coupons it was their system and it’s very frustrating to them. Luckily, there were two cashiers and not a lot of customers.

DG is less than a mile from my house and I pass it everyday on my way home from work. I look forward to more match ups!!! Thanks Collin – again!
