I personally don’t think this is a great deal. Maybe if you get lucky and happen to like everything in the bag, but it’s basically the same as buying clearance when they have an additional 1/2 off, and at least then you can see what you’re getting and have the option to return! I’m guessing coupons can’t be used on this?

    • Terri

Can’t return. It says all sales final.

      • Angela R

I believe she was referring to the option of returning clearance you choose on your own, as opposed to this bag, when you’re stuck with what you get, like it or not. And I 100% agree. I don’t really like to take risks with my limited budget 😉

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I have to agree. A flot of Old Navy stuff is WAAAYY overpriced for the quality. Some of it’s a good deal when it’s on clearance, but you have to really dig for it. I mean, who wants a tshirt that is so cheap you can see through it?

      • Pinky

That is so true. Plus I don’t know if it is my dryer or what but after a dozen washes mine get little holes everywhere.

        • mommytanchez

It’s not your dryer…mine does the same thing. It’s basically disposable clothing!! lol

        • Nicole

yes! I’m glad it’s not just me. Lots of my stuff has little holes in it. Errrr…..

          • Lynne

I was beginning to think my washer was crazy! ALL of my Old Navy tops have little tiny holes in them. It’s a shame! I grow to love a piece (tee or cardigan or tank) and a month or two later it looks awful. I don’t have a problem with their kids clothes, just the womens tops. Weirdness.

            • Kim

Yep, me too! I take my “holey” tops and cut them up and turn them into dresses for my daughters. It’s so hard to find basic T-shirts made of quality material anymore.

        • mouni

It’s not your dryer. It’s the cheap fabrics they use. I have the same problem with the few shirts I bought from them. I call them disposable clothes. Their matenity clothing is better than their regular stuff for some reason.
And I totally agree with the first poster. Even if we (by miracle)we liked everything in the bag. How can we buy something we didn’t try on 1st knowing we can’t return it?

          • Carolyn

I soooooo agree! I love the fit of ON basic tees on me, but the tiny holes are EXTREMELY annoying (and I’m glad to know it’s not just me!). I stock up when they’re super cheap, and hope that they’ll last me a season… which sucks, because their old fabric was great and my girls now wear my old ON tees as their bedshirts. I wish I could find them like that now!

            • melissa

After I had one shirt shrink in the dryer (set on low!), I hang dry everything. So all this time I thought it was my washer making the holes. Good to know its not the washer. I have noticed over the years the material on their shirts was getting thinner and thinner. I have to wear a tank underneath. Even after a few washes, the shirts look faded, so I haven’t bought much from them, unless its really cheap (under $5-$6), so I at least get my moneys worth!

          • cara

I felt that way about their maternity clothing until this year-I bought a cute pair of jean capri’s and after one wash the whole waist band unraveled making the pants unwearable! I have a new, gentle HE washer too! I made my mom fix them for me as it’s too hard to get back to Old Navy but sure makes you want to keep those reciepts.

  2. Jamie

I love Old Navy, but I feel like their clothes are hit or miss for me as a lot of them are cut really low. This sounds like a great way for Old Navy to unload their unsellable clearance items..

  3. Pinky

Is it summer clearance items or new season? I’m guessing clearance but was wondering if anyone knows for sure.

    • Robyn

It is on the new summer stuff, but it is pretty limited. I was able to get some cute, dressy capri’s for $8.63. I got my son a few shirts for just over $2 each too.

      • Alea

It doesn’t really say what is going to be in the surprise bags…

    • Bianca

It’s all tops. 5 for adults, 8 for kids. You get what you get and you can’t return it. I will be opting out on this one

    • Bianca

and it’s clearance. No new summer fashions

      • Pinky

        Thanks Bianca.

        • Bianca

No problem 🙂 Gotta help other deal finders out there!

  4. Terri

I think you can use your Groupon for clearance items though cant you? I know you cant use the Groupon for the $20 bag (which I personally am not interested in), at least at my store. Goodluck to all!

  5. Rachael

Make sure you call your ON store ahead because apparently not all stores are selling baby bags.

  6. Ashley

Yikes.. No thanks. Most of Old Navy stuff fits me weird so I would definitely need to try items on before I purchase..

  7. Natasha

Someone on facebook said that its mostly top and no bottoms.

    • Bianca

      All tops, no bottoms.

  8. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I am an Old Navy employee and just wanted to let you guys know that this deal is only good for the first 4 hours of being open.. I know my store is opening an hour early (at 9), but I would check your local store for their hours.

    • shoehoard

So what kind of stuff is in the bag?

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

All I know is that it’s all tops (5 in the adult bags and 8 in the kids bags). At my store, they tried to put a variety of items in each bag (such as a tank top, t shirt, etc.)

  9. shoehoard

Wonder if I can use my Gap $10 Reward card on it. That way I’m only spending $10 in case it’s a bunch of junk.

    • katie f.

      I don’t see why not…..

  10. Erica

I’m just waiting to see if there will be any maternity bags…I doubt it but I need some new clothes to cover my growing belly!

    • Bianca

They did not specify any Maternity bags. I’m an employee and I know that we didn’t even think to include maternity, so other stores probably won’t either

    • Lori

Erica, if you check this, check out my comment #18

  11. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Great marketing, but I too will pass. My boys always burn holes through the knees so quickly. I only wear their activewear and dresses, which I am sure they won’t sacrafice.

  12. Ann Dee

Guess I don’t have to decide since there is no Old Navy by me. Ha, ha. Now if they did this online….I might be tempted to get baby bags and kid bags. It would be FUN, but probably not practical. Depends on your Old Navy store. If you always have a great clearance section where you live GO FOR IT. When I lived in Las Vegas they always had the best clearance. But here in Utah where everything gets picked through pretty well I don’t think I’d do it…only at the Park City outlet….Just my rambling thoughts. WOULD LOVE TO SEE PICS OF WHAT EVERYONE GETS!!!!!

  13. Sarah

I would suggest calling your store. Mine will be open at 8. They will be selling baby and kid bags by size but not maternity because they do not have much available. I bet every store is going to be different because clearance is always so different. Just my thoughts!

  14. Bianca

For anyone who is interested, I work for Old Navy. The bags will be sealed, so it will be like buying a mystery bag at Goodwill. We are putting 5 tops in the adult bags and 8 tops in the kids bags- no bottoms. Each bag will have the same size in it. Items are not returnable. The sale is only from 8 to 12. Our store is opening at 8, but some others will open later depending on their location. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

    • amy

so are the kids bags unisex? I would think that they would have to have a bag for girls and a bag for boys (?)

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

yeah the bag will specify if it is boys, girls, toddler girls, toddler boys, etc.

    • Ap

      can we use our groupon?

    • Bianca

As far as I know, you can still use the Groupon. You might check with your local store, though. Our store in Rockwall, TX will allow it but other stores may not. I don’t think there are any restrictions listed on the Groupon so you should be okay. The bags will be seperated by boys, girls, toddler boys, toddler girls, womens and mens.

  15. Tiffany

If you have a $10 reward card, then this deal would make kids shirts 80 cents each. Not a bad deal!

    • Ap

I think your math is off…I think it would be $1.25 🙂

      • Trish

you get 8 shirts in a kid bag… so thats .80

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

she’s right, there are 8 shirts in the kids bags.

        • Kristen

          No, $10 for 8 shirts would be $1.25 a shirt….if it was $8 for 10 shirts, then it would be $.80 🙂

  16. steph317

im not going to take place i this since a lot of their stuff fits me funny, but im really hoping people post pictures of what they get!

  17. Joan

I went today, and shopped the 60% off swimwear sale and 75% off clearance.

Used my $20 Groupon (that I paid $7.50 for earlier last month), spent $2.25 oop and got a darling swim suit, ($11.80), and a pair of white capri’s that fit me perfectly (how often does that happen?) $7.50,, had to buy a pair of mens boxer shorts to get to the $20 then pay the tax…
but felt like I scored! Will be great for our vacation to San Diego! Yeah Me!

  18. Lori

If you are interested, I can send you a couple cute tops that I have from having my baby. They are Motherhood extra large. They are 3/4 inch sleeves. I would just ask that you pay shipping and I could find out the cheapest way to ship to you and let you know in advance….

  19. Tricia H

My stuff in the bags is great and they let me use my groupon!! Thanks!

    • misty

      So… what did ya get?

  20. Sarah

I got 2 bags: 1 for my 18mos girl and 1 for my husband. Very pleased with both. I was surprised how few bags my store had (only 1 in each baby/toddler size and only 1 in XL men’s) and I was the 2nd person there. 5 shirts for my husband: 3 ss, 1 ls, and 1 zip up hoodie. 18-24 mos had 1 pj set, 1 dress, 4 tees, 1 onesie, and 1 top with the bottoms (diaper cover). Ended up being a great buy for us!

  21. Jennifer

I got 3 bags this morning, girls L, women’s XL and men’s M, girls had 5 tshirts, 1 tank, and 2 zip front hoodie sweatshirts, Mens had 4 tshirts and a zip front hoodie, women’s had 1 button front cardigan, 2 sleeveless summer tops, and 1 short sleeve and 1 polo shirt. Overall, I was pleased with the items.

  22. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

We have had zero problems with Old Navy clothing. I went head and took a chance on the mystery bag, since I figured, hey– it’s $20, and if I hate the clothes, I can always donate them, and use it as a tax write-off. I ended up getting a decent bag of tops for my 15 month-old. One of the shirts was a duplicate, but..no biggie.I will pass it on to a friend of mine who has a girl near my daughter’s age. I am happy with what we got for our $20. Unlike some, I will not use this comment section to whine and complain, or better yet, point out the mistakes of others.

    • Kristen

??? What is wrong with others sharing their opinion, or as you say “whining and complaining”? There has been no meanness in this thread, until your catty remark.

    • Stacy

I agree, Colleen, it gets so old reading through people correcting each other/complaining about something that’s supposed to be fun.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        Thanks, Stacy! Couldn’t agree more.

  23. Lisa

I went to Old Navy today, not to get one of these bags, but to use my Groupon. Well, they had a sale, random stuff in the store was 75% off!! All over, not in the clearance area. I ended up getting some absolutely amazing deals, and paid only $3 out of pocket for two pairs of women’s shorts, a pair of baby pants, boxers for hubby, a sweater for me, and I think a few other things.

  24. Tiphanie

I went to ON today and wasn’t planning on getting the mystery bag, but when they said i could use my groupon. I couldnt pass up $10 for 5 shirt. I like 4 out of 5. So i was pleased. One of my shirts did have a stain and i got an ugly sweater that was snagged. But the bag was worth about $90 and clearance it was $45.

  25. Katie

I went to Old Navy today and got a Mystery Bag for my daughter (girls XS). It was great! The bag was only suppose to have 8 shirts in it and it had 11 (10 tees and 1 sweater)!!! To make it better, my daughter liked them all but 3, and I am hoping one of my nieces with like them because they are cute shirts. She has been begging for a Hello Kitty shirt, and she got 2!! We are huge Old Navy shoppers. So I was very anxious to try this deal. It worked out great for me! I was just happy that they had some left at 1:30 in the afternoon.

However, I do have to agree on the women’s shirts. I tend to buy new ones every spring/fall, so thank goodness for all the coupons, groupons, ect.. My husband and daughter have great luck with their clothes and I have never had a problem with washing them.

  26. Sherry

Got 15 tanks when they were 2.00. All black. I went back and exchanged them for the nicer colors. I will be exchanging them again!! The black and navy are made from great material. You stretch them and they spring back. All the other colors don’t spring back and just keep stretching as you wear them. I figured that all of them would be the same quality. I have noticed this with their tshirts as well. The darker colors seem to last longer. hth.

  27. arasrea

There is a great website that has a picture of what you might get. http://www.rainydaysandpjs.com. The picture shows girls clothing. All the tshirts look cute, but I guess you have to get lucky!

  28. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

So I saw a picture if what was in a mystery bag and I got those same shirts for my daughter(size medium) last week for $1.97 each and everything was buy 2 get 1 free. Ended up paying 17.00 for 12 shirts. So I don’t think this is a good deal.

  29. Isra

I got a bag today, Im always game for a surprise! lool I picked up baby girl 3-6 mos, its going in part of a gift basket im making so i really didnt care about what they looked like before i opened it, luckily they were all cute!
