**Big Lots does NOT accept manufacturer’s coupons. That’s why it’s best to price match their ad at stores that do accept manufacturer’s coupons. I’ve heard mixed reports about price matching Big Lots ads at Walmart and Target. It seems some readers have success doing this, while other readers do not. So you may want to call your local Walmart or Target ahead of time to see if they price match Big Lots ads.

Thanks for posting Collin!! I always forget you can price match at Walmart! LOL

My walmart recently (I bought 2 days ago) had toys marked way down, and I was able to score overage on some monopoly games, matching games, and a few other hasbro games for a dollar too! So people might want to keep an eye out for clearanced Walmart toys as well 🙂

    • Esther

Me too! I’d price check stuff, because the five dollar monopolys at my store were still marked 20. Who knows what treasures lie on the clearance shelf.

      • Kristy

Yes definitely price check! I picked up 2 diff memory games thinking they were both 2.50….well one was 5!! Of course I already bought it…shoot! LOL

        • Esther

They mark there clearance down a lot. I picked a couple of baby toys for my niece and i go in the next week and they were clearanced again. I seen stuff go down days later

  2. Esther

Walmart would be the best place to do it, you don’t have to have the ad. They don’t even ask where its from. Cashiers at my Walmart just start discounting things based on seeing another customer do it. Last night I got my eggs for 39 cents? Crazy! And my milk was discounted as well and I had my milk coupon that came in the mail. Starting to like walmart a little more!

  3. Publix Coupon Queen

My Wal Mart says they do not price match Big Lots! =(

    • Esther

They never ask at mine. I’d pick the right cashier at just say you have a price match.

    • sherri

My walmart also won’t match Big Lots either. They told me it was because it was a closeout store and they do not match closeout stores. I got this information directly from the store manager.

      • Anne

Seeing as you don’t have to have the ad with you anymore…just tell them it is a price match. No need to tell them what store it’s from.

    • Christina

I had the same problem. They said that they don’t match some of big lots items, but couldn’t tell me exactly which items they could match and which they couldn’t.

  4. Christina

cool! i am eager to go check my walmart with the ad match. i just hope the shelves aren’t cleared. lol.

    • Esther

My walmart has battleship and operation full price so may be easy for you

  5. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

My big lots is right by my walmart. Problem I always have is Walmart never seems to have the items I’m looking to price match?

  6. Savingyoursenseandcents

In the big lots ad it looks like it is the travel battleship. Collin, do you know if this is the travel or regular size?

    • Collin

Hmmm…I was assuming that it was the regular size since the Big Lots ad states that the games are regularly priced at $19.99.

      • Savingyoursenseandcents

Awesome, I didn’t read the fine wording….thanks so much, will def be doing this deal!

  7. muser

I thought Big Lots is where unwanted merch from other dept stars goes to die…it seems counterproductive for Target/Wal-Mart to price match them.

    • Anne

Big Lots is not necessarily ‘unwanted merch’andise from other stores….and frankly Target and Walmart wants your money going to them NOT any other store!

    • jennifer

if you print the walmart policy it states in there that you do not need to bring the ad with you…. if you show this to them, then they cant make you have the ad 🙂

      • Dawn

You would think so, wouldn’t you? However, last weekend, the cashier AND CSM refused to price match because I did not have the ad. They both said that if I don’t have the ad, and they don’t have the ad in the store, they will not price match. I asked them how I was supposed to know what ads they do and do not have and they said “Next time just bring the ad.” The price match I had would have given me overage to be applied toward my total. I wound up paying almost $30 more than I had planned. Not something you want to do when you are on a tight budget!

  8. Michaela

I called my local Target to ask if they price match to Big Lots and was told no. So I asked what stores they do price match. She put me on hold then came back to say they don’t price match at all. I countered by saying their online policy states that they do. She transfered me to cust service and I was told they will price match Big Lots – with the ad, for the exact item. So, looks like I will be heading to Target tomorrow. (maybe Walmart too – they confirmed that they do price match to Big Lots).

    Thanks Collin!!!

  9. karla

I am wondering where you can get a Big Lots ad? I have never got them in the mail.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I was wondering the same thing!

    • Sharon

I usually get one in the Sunday paper.

    • Carol F

They should be online. I get an email with it every week.

      • Rachel

Be careful with the online ad, it can vary slightly from the Physical ad. I was going by the online ad which said “selection varies by store” and thought I might be able to get quite a few different games, however, the printed ad listed the games, so that’s what I had to go by in walmart.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I just got one with my local Saturday paper.

  10. Savings Viking

My local Wal Mart price matches Big Lots no problem, but my local Target does not price match. The only problem will be if I do not have the ad with me and the price difference between what I’m pricematching and the original price is too much; my Wal Mart will not pricematch more than a $5 difference without the actual print ad (but, if you have the ad, they will do it no problem). So if the games are retailing for $20 at Wal Mart, and on sale for $5 at Big Lots, I’ll need the ad.

Great bargains to pick up, though. I’m going to put them back and donate them to Toys For Tots this Christmas.

  11. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Does Big Lots not allow coupons?

    • Daniela

My Big Lots doesn’t allow coupons. I’m in Temecula, CA.

      • Rikki

Hey! I am from Murrieta Ca 🙂 Small world!

  12. daniela

According to Walmart coupon policy, they do not price match with a closeout store, this case, Big Lots. I am in MIA, and tried in # store, nope, the answer was always negative.

  13. spring

I got my games today for $1.00 at Walmart, they price matched no problem!!!! There were about 20 on the shelf and I got 2.

    • Rachel

Which games did you get? I was able to find MANY coupons, $3,$4 and $5 off, but the only games I could get for $1 were Battleship and the Toy Story Operation, because my walmart would only price match the games that were pictured in the ad and those were the only two I had Q’s for. Still though, I got 2 of each for $1 each!

  14. Emilie

I got my Toy Story 3 Operation games today! Bought 3 games for $3! Donating 2 and keeping 1 for my gift stash! Thanks for the heads up Collin! FYI…just looked at the ad from Toys R Us and they have their Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders games priced at $4.99 (after $3 trade in coupon-reg $7.99) thinking that Wal-Mart will price match the $4.99 price. Pair that up with the $3 coupon and that’s a great price for more games!

  15. Christina

Just got back from Walmart. I picked up the ad at Big Lots on the way incase. They price matched no problem and said I didn’t even need the ad to match it. I wanted to get the full size Battleship but wan’t sure since the travel one was pictured. I got the Toy Story Operation and the Cars Operation games. Gonna use some as gifts and donations for the holidays. I might have to go back for Battleship tho. 🙂

  16. brandyhill

I wanted to price match some real fruit popsicles at wal mart the other day. My local Food Lion had them 2/$6. They weren’t in the ad so she said she couldn’t do it. I thought you didn’t have to have the ad to price match?

    • Mindy

You don’t have to have the ad with you, but the item has to be in the ad (not an unadvertised sale). Hope that makes sense. 🙂

  17. Elizabeth W

My walmart is telling me that you can’t price match and use a coupon??? Anyone else had this problem?

    • Nicki

My cashier did the said the same thing. But I told her it was price matching a SALE price not an IN STORE COUPON price. She then went and got a manager and they said it was okay since it was matching a sale. I was able to get 2 Toy Story Operation games and 2 Battleship games (regular size) for $1 each after coupon! 🙂 One is going to be a gift and the other 3 have been donated to an organization that buys gifts for children at Christmas time. Yay!!!

    • twoods

I had the same problem i then spoke to a manager she told me that once they price match the item and then scan it they will then scan the coupon if it goes through they will use if not they will not. In the end I did not get the product 🙁

      • Nicki

I wonder why some stores/registers allow it and others don’t. The register accepted my coupons with no problem.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

you can price match and use a coupon just not double your coupon and price match

  18. MJ

I actually left a Walmart empty handed and went to another today. They had the items but were so ridiculous about price matching that I got tired of arguing. I even had to show them their own coupon/matching policy and they wanted to argue. So I told them to void the whole thing, and walked off.

The Walmart across town was helpful and knowledgeable. I’m right in the middle of both – so I know where I’m going from now on!

  19. Deana

Okay, so I went to Wal-Mart today to do the price matching on the $5 games at Big Lots. I went to customer service to return 4 games I had bought previously and to tell them I wanted to re-buy them with a price match from Big Lots. They asked for the ad and seemed perplexed at its description. After two CSM’s viewed the ad they agreed to do the price match based on the fact the ad stated boxed games, variety differs in stores, and compare to $19.99. I was able to use my coupons on not only the Battleship and operation games but for all the other games that I had coupons for that were “boxed”. I purchased 46 games for just over $30 and will use them as gifts, family games, and the most exciting is I get to use some super awesome games in my middle school classroom that I otherwise would not have been able to purchase….loving Wal-Mart right now!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I had no problem at one of the Wal-Mart in my town but the other Wal-Mart ended up saying that even though the Big Lots add said various games 19.99 and under it only meant the games that were 10.00 at Wal-Mart??

    • miabellacoupon

That is so cool! Where’d you get all the coupons? I could only print two per computer? Wow

  20. StephanieWiggins

This probably seems crazy since this is such an awesome deal…….but if anyone is willing to let go of any of these Hasbro coupons (my region didn’t get these) i’d love to trade for a few (brb722@hotmail.com)!!!

    • Lana

You can print them from Hasbro.com our region didn’t get them either 🙁

  21. Sherri

Does your Walmart price match the lowest price in fliers? I had a cashier tell me the policy was sale price before any rewards or extra care bucks and not after? I don’t see this written on their policies online?

    • Daniel

The policy says that rewards received after the purchase such as $$ off a total purchase are not honored in their price matching.

  22. Brianna

I saw several comments about people asking about where to get Big Lots ads. If you have one near you, stop into Big Lots and they typically have the ads right near the door as you walk in. I did that yesterday and took the ad to both Target and Walmart to pickup some Toy Story 3 Operations games (I also used the $4 coupons with no problem at both). I wasn’t able to find any of the Battleship games and I had already picked up some of the $5.04 Monopoly games and used the $4 coupons for that as well. What great Christmas items!

  23. Daniel

I just picked up 11 games, 3 kinds of Operation, Monopoly, Battleship at two different Walmarts. The cashier verified it with her manager and I got each game or $1!!

    Loving Walmart these days!!!

  24. SMS

Went to Walmart, was going to get two Toy Story Operation games with price match and coupons…after waiting 20 minutes for them to figure out how to do it, they said they could do the price match OR the coupons, but not both. I left them there. So frustrating…but keep up the excellent work, Collin, I have saved SO much money from this site.
