Does anyone know if any of these cards-especially restaurants-go down in face value if you neglect to use them in a timely manner?

    • Tilla R. Ham

in most states and maybe even federally now it is illegal for gift cards to lose value or have experiation dates. these are actual gift cards, so you should be fine

  2. tawn

  3. Ragan

Anyone know how long shipping usually takes?

    • Sarah

I ordered for the 1st time a few weeks ago and it was very fast. Ordered on a Friday morning and received it Tuesday!

PLASTIC JUNGLE IS A NIGHTMARE!!! THEY USE A CALLING CENTER IN INDIA. I HAVE PLACED SEVERAL ORDERS OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS AND WILL NEVER AGAIN!!! THEY OVERCHARGED ME $600 THEN HELD THAT MONEY FOR 7 DAYS!!! ALSO I BOUGHT 2 ECODES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SENT WITHIN 24 HOURS GOT THEM 5 DAYS LATER AFTER I CALLED 3 TIMES!!! STAY AWAY!!! THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER GOOD SITES OUT THERE!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Hi April!

I am really surprised by your comment as I have personally used them in the past and never had an issue. In any case, I am forwarding your comment over to my Plastic Jungle contact and asking them to respond ASAP.

      • April

I had ordered several times in the past as well with no problems until 2 weeks ago. It was like it was a different company. What’s funny is I talked to 2 different supervisors and all they could do was apologize but not fix anything. I have also used Cardpool and will continue to use them but not Plastic Jungle anymore.

    • Jesse

I’ll second the call center in India. I have bought and sold my own gift cards to Plastic Jungle. Buying the cards went ok. My only word of caution is that if you are giving them as gifts, don’t expect them to look like brand new gift cards- they may not. Mine looked pretty beat up (and I was going to use them as gifts).

Now, when I sold my gift card, it was a pain, and I don’t think I’ll do so again. I got emails saying my Amazon code (my payment for mailing in my gift card) was available under my account on their website online. It wasn’t, for days, and days and then weeks. I emailed the company, got one email response saying “we’ve got your email and will reply” but it never happened- I never got a response. I emailed 4 more times, and no response. Finally I called (India) and had THE hardest time understanding the person there, who, in essence said “wait some more”. 3 weeks later my amazon code showed up, after many unanswered emails and 2 phone calls. It was A LOT of work on my part to get my payment for the gift card I mailed in. Hopefully not everyone’s experience with this company was like mine, but I value reading other’s experiences of companies in this comments section, so felt compelled to share mine.

      • Denise J

I’ve only sold one card to them, but it went smooth as can be. Sorry you have had such a hard time with them.

    • maggie

i also wanted to buy giftcard from them but so happy I did NOT! Just google this company and read those reviews, almost all negative! this company is horrible!

    • Rebecca

I have had the same bad luck with them! I used PJ before without a problem. Recently had MAJOR issues with them! I called & NO ONE has helped me at all! I even talked to 3 people in the same phone call!
My credit card was charged $900 for orders that PJ has posted in my account as cancelled with no charge to my credit card. I used to love them! You get great deals with the discounted cards & then sales. Not anymore! This has been a huge headache!

    • renee

just did—- she has earned that spot no doubt–making our mailboxes exciting then ever!

    • Margaret

Voted 🙂 If she wins, is there a prize?

  5. Debbie

    Uht-oh 🙁
    that’s enough for me.

  6. Kris

Just a small note of caution…
Make sure to check the balances of the gift cards when you receive them. Also – make sure to keep careful records of when you used the gift cards as well. I purchased a gift card from Plastic Jungle, and then someone else used the balance after I had received it…so the gift card had a zero balance when I tried to check out at the store. That being said, Plastic Jungle was EXCELLENT about helping me sort through the situation, and because I had kept track of my purchases, I was able to fill out some paperwork and get a full refund from Plastic Jungle. (I continue to use them because of their excellent customer service).

    • John

You could be the one that got my card. I sent in a card to them (Starbucks) waited 3 weeks. Tried to ask them what was going on. They said that they had not yet received it. Decided to wait another week. Still not there they said. I figured it must have got lost in the mail. So I contacted the card issurer and reported it lost. They proceeded to kill that one that was lost and send me a new card. I told Plastic Jungle that I had done this and then I get a responce that they had allready re-sold it 2 weeks earlier. WTH. Needless to say whoever got that card was in for a big suprise. Not sure why they told me that they did not have the card when I called but they sure need to get their process improved.

  7. Jenn

Be extremely careful with purchasing giftcards that you do not plan on using right away! I purchased some giftcards to have on hand with me in case of an unexpected sale. I saved like 11% or something but when I went to use it (after the lady tried to ring it through like 6 times) she called corporate and found out that it had been reported lost or stolen. I contacted Plastic Jungle but they only protect you for a week. Luckily It was only $25 but I just wanted to give you all a heads up.

  8. Ashley57

Thanks Collin! I signed up for a acct and an alert for when a Wal-mart GC is posted. Shop there anyway twice a month, might as well save more money.

  9. Margaret

I’ve used Plastic Jungle in the past without an issue. Well, not completely true. Bought one card from them with a balance lower than stated, but they fixed it right away. Overall, very good experience.

  10. Shanshan

I only wanted Target card (as shown in the pic) but it’s not even an option.

  11. a happy mom

DH and I used them and bought Home Depot Cards through them when we renovated our bathrooms earlier this summer. Saved about 10% on our project just through buying the gift cards instead of using a CC or check!

  12. Julie

I’ve used cardpool and plasticjungle and had great experiences! I used one of them to purchase an ecode, can’t remember which one. I like going to giftcardgranny.com to find which seller has the best deal!

  13. PG

I don’t really find the savings on gift card resale sites to be worth the hassle. I looked into getting a couple cards there, and a $25 card was like $23.50. I’d rather pay the $1.50 and know that the card is brand new and that I have the activation slip in case of a problem. That’s just me, though. 🙂

Also, a word of caution about new gift cards…always be sure to keep your activation slip till the card is used! A friend of mine received a $50 card for her wedding and the card showed up as never activated. Luckily the person that gave it to her still had her activation slip. The cashier must’ve forgotten to run the card to load it when it was originally purchased.

    • Kim

@ PG, I just wanted to say that I second the idea of making sure that you check the balance and keep the receipt after every gift card purchase. I used to be a manager at a retail store and unfortunately there are some really shady/greedy dishonest employees that will try to scam customers out of their gift cards. There are two common ways that they do this (that I have witnessed and fired employees for.) 1st- they keep gift cards with a zero balance next to there register, or if they are really sneaky up there sleeve or in pocket. Then when you hand them the card you want loaded they will swipe it and load it and then swap it out with the card that has a zero balance. 2nd- they will write down the gift card information numbers and then stick it back in the very front of the slot. Then the customer purchases the gift card that the employee has the information for. The employee then uses the gift card information that they wrote down to make purchases online using the giftcard the customer has purchased.

I always recommend to keep a close eye on the employee who is ringing up your gift card. Be cautious if the cashier seems overly chatty/friendly because they do this to try and distract you! This is especially true if they start talking about the weather or something outside in an attempt to get you to look away. Another tip is to always check to make sure that the pin is not scratched off the back and to always try to grab a card from the very back of the pile. Finally, it never hurts to have the cashier print you a balance inquiry immediately after they load your gift card. Hope this helps someone!

I also had a bad experience. Bought a card to use as a gift, and when the recipient (my sister) went to use it, the balance had been used months before I received the gift card. I had to complete some paperwork, but Plastic Jungle did kindly refund my money. I won’t order from there again. Too much hassle. And, as another commenter noted, if you are expecting the card to look “new”, it may not…. luckily mine was for my sis and she didn’t care.

  15. Emily

I do about 75% of my purchases with Plastic Jungle gift cards (stacking them with coupons, etc.). As many readers have stated above, there are both good and bad experiences with them. In my experience, if I order 2 or more cards at the same time, I tend to have more problems. I have also had better experiences when corresponding by e-mail than over the phone with their call center. I have never had a problem with an e-code gift card from Plastic Jungle except that the codes do not always arrive in 24 hours, although they usually do.

  16. Jessica

Just a side note: You can get 1% cash back through any Plastic Jungle purchase through Ebates, on top of what you’re already saving by purchasing gift cards at a reduced price. Extra savings!

If you’re already an Ebates member, then just search Plastic Jungle and click through them like you normally would to get your 1% back.

  17. Jen

Also watch out if you don’t plan on using them right away. Although gift cards have no expiration, some companies charge an “inactivity fee” annually if your card is inactive for too long. They tend to be about $25 per year of inactivity, so the cards can lose value fast. My Neiman Marcus gift card went down to $0 because I didn’t know about it (although I think NM gift cards no longer charge a fee, but I’m not sure).

  18. Chris

I had an issue with purchasing a 300 gift card that had a $0 balance on it. They did resolve the issue quickly. I also called visa and started a dispute right away just as a safety net, but plastic jungle resolved the problem within 2 days.

I do agree with pp that email is better than phone contact with them.

  19. Laurie

Wow, like Collin, i’m super- surprised to hear all the problems with Plastic Jungle. My husband and I have been buying discounted gift cards for the last 3 yrs or so and never ( knock on wood!) had ANY issues with any of the sites including Plastic Jungle. We’ve used ABCgift cards, Plastic Jungle, Giftcards dot com, and more… and bought thousands of dollars worth. Thanks for the word of warning about the new business practices of Plastic Jungle.

  20. Plastic Jungle

Thank you all for your feedback. We take every customer comment to heart and we’re committed to providing the best gift card exchange on the web.

We’d like to do whatever we can to ensure your experience is a positive one. If any of you have any issues that have not been resolved, please send details to Alexis@plasticjungle.net and we’ll do our best to resolve them right away. We appreciate your business!

  21. Josie

I bought a $100 gift card to Calif. Pizza Kitchen on Plastic Jungle last summer. I took a semi-large party out for a graduation dinner, and when I went to use my gift card there was no balance on the card. I was shocked. The day after I called Plastic Jungle and they gave me a hassle. For my trouble they offered me a t-shirt. I told them that I didn’t want it. I did get my money back, but I had been hoping to save a few dollars on the dinner, and that didn’t happen. So, buyers beware. You might want to call as soon as you get the gift cards and check balances. I assumed wrongly that Plastic Jungle would check the gift card balance before it was mailed to me.

    • Plastic Jungle

@Josie, I’m sorry to hear about your experience! Consumers are always covered with the Plastic Jungle Guarantee, but we learned from experiences like yours and instituted a final balance check right before the card is delivered. We made that change last fall when we redesigned our site and operations. I hope you will give us another chance!
