How to Distinguish Between Target Store & Manufacturer’s Coupons on Target.com
If you shop at Target often and print coupons from Target.com on a regular basis, you’ve probably noticed that Target.com offers store coupons and manufacturer coupons online. The tricky part about their online coupons is that it’s hard to tell which coupons are Target store coupons or manufacturer coupons until AFTER you’ve printed them.
Since I receive quite a few emails from you wondering how to distinguish between the two types of coupons, I was happy to discover that there actually is a way to figure out which ones are which! Check out the details below…
*Head on over here and right-click on any Coupon image
*Click on the “View Image” text and a new tab or window will open up with the image in your browser (I’m working on a Macbook, so if you’re using a PC you may need to click on the “Properties” text).
*Look at the html coding at the top of your browser and you’ll see a long string of text for the image. Look closely at the link and you’ll notice that if a coupon is a Target store coupon, it will say “files.cncdn.com/partners/target/…” with the word target in the text.
*If the coupon is a manufacturer’s coupon, it will look like one of the above pictures and have either the word “manufact” in the HTML OR you may also see the particular manufacturer name in the link instead, like “files.cncdn.co/partners/norelco/….” as seen above.
Hopefully this will help those of you who have been wondering how to tell a difference between the 2 types of coupons! 🙂
You are awesome! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for the information on the target coupon that helps a lot.
I wish you could store this somewhere on your blog so we can go back and review or when I send others to your site they can find it in the future…..thanks collin I have been with you since 2008
You could sign in to your “hip list” and then click on the little clip board on the top right hand side of each post. It bookmarks the article for you – you can find your bookmarked articles at the bottom of the page by clicking on the orange bar.
Great idea, Lisa! I will start adding this to the bottom of the Target Weekly deals as a reminder! 😀
For those still not seeing this on a pc. Make sure your clicking the picture of the product. If you click in the coupon but not on the actual picture it will show a short url saying target everytime.
I had this issue as well. If you click on properties instead, you can see it that way. Happy Couponing!
thank you so much , Ink isnt cheap so when i print one of them its like arhg!
that’s great! Thanks so much for saving my printer some ink.
This is exactly what I was wondering about yesterday. Thanks!
AWEsome, are you Colin Master Yoda 😀 I actually emailed you a few weeks back, about this very question ..and, I had a 3+ hour convo last night to my sister Toni back home in Michigan, about this too ..WeeeHOO! Thanks for this great info, sure helps!
LLLLLLOOOOVVVEEE YYOOOOUUUUUU!!
LOL that pic made me laugh so much 😀 thanks for the post 😛
OMG THANK YOU!!!!
WOW..Thanks so much!! That is very helpful. And I love the picture 🙂
OMG Love that pic lololol
Awesome, I was JUST wondering this yesterday when I went to print coupons off Target’s site.
genious!
THANK YOU COLLIN! Now it will $ave me even more money in ink & frustrations! This is GREAT! 😉
I’ve always read them like this…no longer accurate?
“with purchase of…” is a Target coupon.
“when you buy…” is a MF coupon.
I’ve found this to be true too! Anything that doesn’t start with a ‘when you buy’ has always printed as a Target coupon for me.
Yes, I learned this a couple of months ago. Also, when it doesn’t say “when you buy” or “with purchase of” it’s usually a Target coupon (i.e., “$1 Godiva chocolate item” that is currently on there).
off topic here …but Joy @ ..12:34pm funny we posted to the same OP.. was wondering..I am blonde..did you choose a blonde little gravatar? I didn’t choose anything..mine just turns up brunette.. hmmm.. mabye keep it brunette then..otherwise we will confuse ourselves..I looked at your post and thought to myself ‘ self..did I just contradict myself, but saying oh I knew this, but then posted, I didn’t know this..’..haha.. funny.. This is Joy 12:29pm below..
Great to know this as well Amanda and Collin to know to check properties.. I sometimes print out and see it’s manuf. thinking..”ah shucks, I have a manuf. one already..I want a Target one”.. haha.. thnx ladies..
Yes. Simply look for “When” you buy = Manufacture coupons. Anything else are Target coupons.
also, usually the target coupon has the modifier of “with purchase” or none at all, while the manufacturer’s coupons usually use “when you purchase/buy”
My 4 year old daughter thought the photo in the post was soooo funny. Made for a good laugh together.
I was just wondering this last week. Thanks!
not working for PC at all. 🙁
I am on a PC and have no problem. Right click on coupon and then select “Properties”. Then a box with info will pull up and where it says “Address (URL)” is where the info you need is.
It didnt work for me the way its described either. Try this…right click the image and select “open image in new tab.” A new browser window will open up with the html and that will tell you if it is a Target coupon or manufacturer. Hope that helps!
Thank you for posting this! Now I can see it! None of the other ways worked for me.
When I right click on the image I am not given the option “open image in new tab” and when I click on properties it only says http:coupons.target.com. Does anyone know another way to find out? I’m using IE 9 does that make a difference? Thanks for any help you can give me!
hey jill it sounds like they are using google chrome.
Thank you! I’ve been wondering that for a LONG time!
Love the picture of the lady!
You just made my day! Thank you!
That’s is so helpful! Thanks. I always wondered if there was a way to distinguish before I chose to print.
Thank you! I had been wondering this for a long time!!!
This is great; thanks so much!
Great!! THANKS SOOO MUCH!! 😀
I know this isn’t entirely related, but I was wondering. Is there any catch to the Target debit card? Seems like a no brainer to use it for 5% off purchases & free shipping, but I’m wondering if it’s too good to be true. They don’t run a credit report, and it’s tied into your bank account. Am I missing something?
nope. no catch! I use it all the time, LOVE the extra 5%! The only downfall is sometimes it can take up to a week for the debit to come out of my checking acct. Drives the hubby batty LOL when he’s trying to balance and the Target charge is still “pending”
Fantastic discovery! You definitely go above & beyond to help people. Thanks for all you do!
Maybe I’m computer illiterate but how can you do this with a Mac? You can’t right click…?
I haven’t used a mac in awhile, but I believe pressing the control key and clicking in unison has the same function as right click. 🙂
That’s awesome! Thank you. Will save a few trees I’m sure! And ink!
Some times, view image is not an option @ such times , right click and go to properties and you can see what collin refers.:)
HTH for those who cannot find view image option …
Awesome! Now the challenge is actually remembering to do that each time before printing a coupon. 🙂
If you use Google Chrome, when you right-click, you need to choose “inspect element” and when the new page opens up, you may need to scroll down a bit until you see the html part high-lighed in blue. From there you can see if its a Target coupon vs manuf coupon.
Hey anyone know if this trick or similar will let us know if Kroger [and affiliate] ecoupons are store or manufacturer’s ?? tia 😉
thank you! I have always wondered that! ( :
Thank u!!!!!!
Thank you so much!!!
I am right clicking on the picture and nothing happens. I am at work. will try it at home
Thank you for taking the time to do this and do it so well. It was easy to understand with the graphics you included.
Great post! Thanks so much for the info!!!
Ah quite brill! Thanks so much!
Maybe it’s just me but… I’m not sure if it’s worth the effort to look that far. I know Target’s website has been really SLOW to load for me since they changed it a few months ago. Even on different computers it seems to take forever. I think I’d rather just take my chances printing them then have to wait for the html coding to show up! Anybody else have that problem?
Wow, that helps alot!!! Thanks Collin 🙂
Ever since Target updated their website, I have not been able to print any coupons on our Mac computers. It states that we need to update our Java. My computer is brand new. We go to update Java and we have the latest version. Any body else with a Mac having this issue?
That’s a fantastic tip! Thanks!!!
You are the bomb.com
THANKS COLLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!! This will save me so… much paper. Sometimes I have the mfg coupon and would like to match it with target coupon and would have to have blind faith hoping it was a target coupon. I love this sight!!!! You work so…. hard to find us all the answers. Thanks again for all your hard work!!!
Thanks for taking the time to clarify this, Collin. Complete with screen shots, to boot! As usual, you go above and beyond. I don’t know if it’s possible to get tired of hearing it, but YOU’RE AWESOME!
Thank you! This has been a source of frustration for me for ages. I really appreciate this information! My printer is like a thirsty alcoholic. This will save me so much in ink and $$$$!
