American Express: *HOT* Order $50+ Prepaid Card = FREE $10 Gift Card (Through July 31st)
Yay! I posted about a similar American Express offer last month so I was excited to discover that a new offer is available through the month of July! If you’re planning to travel this Summer or are looking for a safer way to make purchases, you may be interested in ordering an American Express Prepaid card. For the month of July, whenever you order a Prepaid Card and load $50 to it, you’ll score a FREE $10 gift card! Awesome!
With American Express Prepaid Cards, there’s no credit check required in order to qualify. Plus, you’ll incur no debt since you can only spend what you load on the Card (no overdraft fees either!). You’ll also receive world-class American Express benefits, such as 24-hour customer service, purchase protection, roadside assistance, access to hundreds of discounts & special offers, and lots more!
To score your FREE $10 gift card, you’ll just need to order an American Express Prepaid card and load $50+ at time of order. Your FREE $10 gift card will be mailed to your house within 6 weeks of purchasing your Prepaid card. That means you’re basically scoring $10 completely FREE just for ordering a safer, fee-free alternative payment method that’s loaded with the amount of money you can afford… not bad! 🙂
How It Works:
* Add money online or by phone, from Direct Deposit, a bank account or with cash
* You or the people you choose can use the Card at millions of locations around the world: in stores, online and at ATMs
* You can reload your Card as often as you wish either online or by phone. Plus, you and the people you choose can set up online accounts to check the Card balance, view transactions and set up alerts.
Need a last minute wedding or anniversary gift idea? Head on over here to order your American Express Prepaid card…and score a FREE $10 gift card for yourself (will arrive within 6 weeks)! But remember, this promotion is only valid through July 31st!
I haven’t had an AMEX in years just because lots of places do not take them. Does anyone know if pay at the pump gas stations take these. Would be an awesome discount on gas 😀
I use AMEX card at the gas pumps all times (get additional 4% back on it), maybe it depends where you live??
Can you order more than 1?
If you order more than one and want the gift card for each, they would have to be in different names as its limited to one gift card per user name on the card.
Thank you Melanie.
If you have already purchased one of these before during a promo, can you purchase another one and get the promo? Also it says that this card is not meant for gifting. So probably not a good idea to give it as a gift.
I got one from the last promotion and use it for gas. Hope that helps 🙂
I was reading you have to pay $2.00 per transaction each time you use it. Kind of spoils the deal for me.
That fee is for each ATM withdrawal after one per month. You can have one free ATM withdrawal per month.
I have a post paid Delta American Express and I recently purchased the last promotion ( load $200 and get $25). I must say this is a great deal even without the additional $10. Most prepaid cards do not even offer half the added bonuses this card offers. Since they are offering an additional $10 I would recommend getting this for back to school shopping. I will get a few to take my nieces and nephews shopping.
Have you received your $25 card from the last promotion yet? I am still waiting on mine…
I just ordered mine around June 28th, so I have not received anything yet.
I am not completely comfortable with giving my bank account info to them. Not sure why it’s neccesary except that the idea is to keep you reloading. I do understand the business decision behind that. Is anyone else using an alternative. If so please share ideas. thank you, Lori
You do not have to unless you load it through your bank account. You can load it through the other options – like MoneyPak, etc., without giving them you bank info.
Did anyone else see that you have to let them send you text messages?
So this does nothing to your credit? We would like to buy a house soon and don’t want our credit touched at all.
Hey Jordan! Your credit should be just fine. I clicked on the link about using SS as part of the info (which is why I’m not getting one), and it said that they were required by law to get it even though your credit score will not be affected by purchasing and using the card. I hope this helps and good luck with the house hunt! : )
Is this different than Serve?!
Can you cancel the card when the $50 is gone or do you have to reload?
I’m wondering if it would be a good idea to load $50 to get the extra $10. Then once I get the card use my one free ATM withdrawal at my banks ATM (ie no fee ATM) to take out my full $50? Anyone any thoughts?
Find a bill that’s $50 and pay it. That’s what I did with the $200 offer and plan to do the same with this one. Easy way to earn money!
I’m nervous about them asking for my social security number. I don’t see any point in that. They ask you if you will load the card later with cash- how would you do that? We use cash only in our house.
Does anyone know how much the activation fee is , if any?
Thanks!
I did the $200 deal and it took 5 days before I could use the funds, even though the money was pulled from my bank account. AND I still haven’t received my $25 GC. I should follow up. I do like there’s no monthly fee but the delay in accessing my money is a problem. They’re earning interest on my money and making me wait to use my own money
This isn’t really about this posting, but I didn’t know where else to put this. My husband and I are going to San Francisco for our first year anniversary and I am looking everywhere for good hotel deals since they are so expensive, especially in San Fran. If tips on how to get cheap hotels, please let me know! We are really trying to save money, so any help would be awesome! I have been playing the “Hilton Garden Inn “Brave”” game on facebook that colin posted about a few days ago and haven’t won anything so far. Thanks! Abby
Hi Abby!
I’ve had GREAT success with Priceline and Hotwire. I use betterbidding.com to look for information. Basically, they have a list of hotels that are most likely to be offered on the website, so you can look up the area and have a general idea of what hotel you’ll be receiving. Priceline is more “random” then Hotwire, but you can normally get a lower price. If you scan the website, you can learn how to find “free zones” too for instant rebidding. I got a Marriott Resort near Disney for $45 a night and I’ve booked some Hyatt Places (love these hotels!! Big Suites and Breakfasts!) in Columbus, OH for around $50 a night. Bigger cities I’m sure will cost a little more. It’s nice because there’s a forum to say what you’ve won sorted by state, so you can get an idea of what to bid. I’d love to go on, but this could be a whole page of typing! So just explore betterbidding.com and I’m sure you can score a good deal!!
Abby-I just got back from San Francisco after doing the Greyhound $1 each way deal (thanks Collin!!!) The four of us stayed in two different hotels during our three day, two night stay . One was the Best Western Plus Carriage House on 7th (fairly short MUNI bus ride from Greyhound station) and the other was an independent on Post Street. Both places cost us around $200 a night for 2 double beds. Take into consideration that you do have to pay taxes and fees on top of advertised hotel rates. Those fees are $20 and up. Another thing to consider is that if you use a car and need to park it (and we didn’t), you will have to pay a parking fee in many of the hotels which can cost between $15-$30 per night. Some places you can park on the street, but spaces can be extremely hard to find. Most San Francisco buildings are old and the city is quite dirty. Don’t expect luxury unless you’re willing to pay for it. I loved Bethany’s suggestion of Priceline, Hotwire and betterbidding. I’ve used all three. You might want to be careful, though, because unless you are not too picky, you may not like what you get and where it is located. You’ll also not be advised on the parking rate on an undisclosed-name hotel room. Another tip for you is that in S.F. some streets are “okay” while one street over it can be pretty sketchy. Next time we go to S. F. I’m planning to splurge a little on the hotel and pick one in a good location for an acceptable price. San Francisco is a city that is going to give you lots of little surprises (depending upon how much off the tourist trap scene you go) and having a nice, safe and pleasing environment to go “home” to after you explore would be a really good thing.
Thank you both so much for your tips! I will definitely check out betterbidding and the other sights.
Maybe I’m too cautious, but I’m not giving out all of the personal information that they are asking for.
Because of the Anti- Money Laundering Act, when you buy prepaid cards they are suppose to collect your personal info.
