UPDATE: This offer is now expired. 🙁

Wowza!!! What a *HOT* freebie for all you Starbucks fans! 😀 Currently (not sure how long this will last?), you can score a completely FREE Grande Latte (up to $4.50 value!) from Starbucks! Here’s how to get in on this awesome offer:

* Head on over to Treater.com through this link.
* Click on the Blue “Pick a Friend” link
* Choose a Facebook friend to send a FREE Starbucks Latte to (I chose my hubby since I knew that he’d end up giving me the freebie since he’s not a coffee fan! 😉 ).

* Then just follow the directions to send your Treat. You’ll be able to add a message and a photo if you like. The Treat will post to their Facebook Wall. In addition, you can also send a text message link or email link to their smartphone (which they will receive faster). When you are done, click the green “Send It!” Button! That’s it!

To redeem the Treat, click the Treater Facebook post, text message link or email link on your smartphone. You’ll see the Treat and the message from friend, and then they’ll guide you through redemption. Note that redemption must occur on a smartphone. Show the cashier the Treat Card on your phone, they’ll type in the Treat Card number as a credit card, and voila! You’ve been treated.

I couldn’t believe how simple it was to redeem! And now I am enjoying my FREE latte! 😀

* This Offer is subject to the following terms and conditions. (1) Offer is good only for a Free Grande Latte at Starbucks. (2) Offer cannot be combined with any other offers. (3) Offer only valid until November 21, 2012. (4) Limit one offer per person. (5) Treater has the sole right to modify or terminate this offer at any time with or without notice. I just tried it and it said it wasn’t available anymore.

  2. Kitty

My bf and I both signed up for it. Hope it works. I used my sephora credit thru wrapp today with no problems 🙂

  3. Lisa

I got it but there was no card number for them to use??!!!

  4. Lynda

    I can’t get this to work….

  5. katherine

I got the text message after 15 minutes … and it worked just fine at Starbucks!

the reason others are getting theirs declined is becuase the value of the card is $4.50, if the total comes to more than that, u will have to ask the cashier to run it for $4.50 then u pay the difference. My drink was $4.55 (no tax in MT, that’s just what Starbucks here charges for a grande). I asked the cashier to run it at $4.50, she did (she just entered the card number from my phone… the card comes up after you sign into facebook on your phone) then I paid $.05 … and am now enjoying a pumpkin spice latte!!

    Thank you Colllin!!!

  6. Diane

Is it essentially a prepaid card in the amount of $4.50 and you could order anything up to that value? Does their system know that its for a grande latte? I’m guessing not. Anyone else use it for other items?

    • katherine

Yes, it is a prepaid card set at $4.50. And the card on the phone clearly states ‘grande latte at Starbucks’. I wouldn’t try to get anything else with it as it is very clear what it is for.

    • Diane

I just looked up info on the treater site and i found this: “Ross said some relationships with retailers have been made (though Treater isn’t announcing them today), but even if there isn’t a formal relationship you can still use Treater at any of the locations since it is really just a credit card.” So you can use it anywhere in up to $4.50!

      • katherine

but be prepared for other places to turn you away as this Starbucks Treater clearly states it is for a Grande Latte at Starbucks. I wouldn’t risk trying it elsewhere and take advantage of the freebie it was intended for.

        • Diane

Yeah, strike that – it states in their terms of service that they are “closed loop cards” which means for a specific retailer, but you can probably buy other items there.

          • katherine

yeah, I wonder if anyone has tried to buy something other than the grande latte? The card states it’s for a grande latte, so I guess it might be up to the cashier to let it go thru for something else?

  7. Breanna

Sent one to my hubby who sent me one back! Going to Starbucks now to try it out!

  8. trish

I like you’re birdie in the photo too

  9. Corinne

I am SO mad! I just went to 2 of my local Starbucks, who proceeded to inform me this was fraudulent and would not even TRY to use my Treat “card”! I am so mad!

    • Keri

      call headquarters

      • Corinne

I tried calling, they are closed until tomorrow! BUT I will call back!

  10. Monica

Just sent one to my daughter and she sent one to me. Love free Starbucks coffee. Thanks Collin for posting

  11. Katie t

Does anyone know if you can use this on flavore lattes? Like vanilla, pumpkin spice, etc?

    • katherine

definitely! 🙂 I am finishing up my pumpkin spice latte right now!

    • Mindy M.

Yes! I got my Skinny Vanilla!

  12. Kel

It posted on my sister’s wall and send her a text but claims I don’t have any treats. When I tried again it said “you’re already claimed this treat.” Very disappointed.

  13. Laura

My husband sent me one over an hour ago and I never got an email, but it says on their website that I have it in my account. I don’t know why I didn’t get an email.

  14. Lauren

That took some patience and persistence, but I got it 🙂 I would assume that you can use it on any latte. $4.50 seems like a lot for a Grande. My usual drink is a Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte and it costs me $4.70 (in gift cards of course). I can’t afford these at full price!

  15. Laura Johnson

    Gone now 🙁

  16. Enza (@EnzasBargains)

I love the laptop on your lap! It looks like me when the hubby is driving? What do you use as a hotspot?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I tether with my iPhone! 🙂

  17. luvpinsanity

  18. Jennifer

  19. Kan

Gifted one to my hubby and got one for myself!! Great offer…thank you so so much!

  20. Chrissy

I sent one to my husband and he tried it right away with the nearest Starbucks ( which was inside a Stop and Shop Supermarket.) It didn’t work for him and the cashier didn’t know what to do. He called me up and asked me to try mine-so I redeemed it this afternoon at Veterans Parkway-Columbus, GA and it worked fine 🙂 The cashier gave me a big smile and told me she did the same deal to a lady who was there earlier. I am glad I wasn’t the first one. I enjoyed drinking my Grande Chai Latte—- for free!!!

  21. Pam

    This deal is over 🙁

  22. barbara

can you get hot cholate with this

  23. Kat

It told me I had to pay 49 cents to send it to a friend.

  24. SLS

  26. Julianne

  27. Jocelyn

its asking me to pay and enter cc info to be charged 4.50?~!?

    • Cheryl

I received the same request hours ago when I tried to take advantage of the offer. I just stopped trying and by looking at previous posts the offer is now expired. Bummer.

  28. Barb

Went to use it but they said they had no way to enter the credit card numbers
We went through drive thru and after 15 minutes they just gave it to me

  29. MD

    NO LONGER AVAILABLE !

  30. alejandra

has anybody tried using it with the BOGO shopkick coupon for starbucks inside target? would that work?

  31. sheryl

I Got the Facebook post but it will not send the text when i try to redeem.

  32. Alisha

Jut redeemed mine for a Skinny Vanilla Latte! Worked just fine! Thanks Collin!

    • Katie t

I went to two Starbucks and both of them told me that its company policy that they are not allowed To manually enter credit card numbers. Did the employee do this for you?

      • Alisha

She didn’t say anything about not accepting it. She tried it and it went through and then she showed the other employees and said they like to let everyone know when there is a new thing so they can be prepared. She thought it was cool.

  33. Chrissie

Mine didn’t work either. Said it was declined, so frustrating!

  34. Amy

My starbucks could not do it either- one gave me a free drink and the other said it was against policy to type in CC or copy # from phones.
