Using Box Tops to Help Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore, Oklahoma (Easy and Free Way to Help!)
Earlier today, I posted about some of the different ways to help victims of the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma (you can view that post here). Several of you suggested an easy (and free!) way to help out from afar using Box Tops for Education and their current Facebook promotion (check out this post for all the details).
[h2s_box]Comment left by reader, RH:
This suggestion will not cost you anything but will help the school… the Box Tops promotion that is running right now. Instead of selecting your home school, select Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore, Oklahoma. Just a few clicks, just like their Facebook page and select the school in the summer countdown and they get 5 free box tops up to 5 million… every little bit will help them. [/h2s_box]
Here’s what to do if you want use Box Tops to help…
* Head on over to the Box Tops for Education Facebook page, and “like” them
* Click on the “Summer Countdown” tab
* Enter the school’s zip code (to help support Plaza Towers Elementary School, enter zip code 73160)
* Select this school and they’ll get 5 FREE Box Tops
* And then keep spreading the word!
Cool, thank you for sharing this!
I agree, excellent idea. God Bless them.
It seems like Briarwood Elementary School also suffered, maybe some of us could give it to them!
Currently:
PLAZA TOWERS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – 5565 BOX TOPS
BRIARWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – 625 BOX TOPS
wonder if we could donate our My Coke Rewards to them as well?? Anyone know about this?
Briarwood Elementary School was also severely hit by the tornado. Their information is Briarwood Elementary School 14901 S Hudson Ave Oklahoma City, OK 73170, if anyone wants to vote for them as well.
Yes, Briarwood needs help as well!
I just gave them the 5 and am going to mail them about 100 I have here!
what is the address you will mail them to? I have some I could send too! Thanks for that great idea.
I donated my 5 and shared on fb, and my friends are starting to reshare. My neighbor and I were also wondering if we could mail the ones we have on hand to them. Are you going to mail them directly to the school’s address above?
Not trying to be snarky in any way and if it does come across as that, I do apologize. I’m just curious as to how it’ll get there considering things there are chaotic and for the most part, destroyed right now. Not to mention getting in and out of the city is virtually blocked off right now (last time I heard?), so I don’t know how mail is even going to get there… Plaza Towers is pretty much demolished, so how will they receive it I wonder?
Obviously it will not be delivered to the school itself, just thinking that maybe their mail might get held at the nearest still functioning post office where it could be picked up by a school official in the future? The mail that was in progress before the disaster has to go somewhere, doesn’t it? I don’t really have an answer because I’ve never experienced something like this firsthand (thankfully). Anybody work for the postal service that might have an idea what might happen in this situation? I have 71 box tops that have been sitting in my kitchen in an envelope forever because I always forget to take them to church with me (no kids in school yet). They are almost all good through 2014-2016, so they could sit somewhere a good while and still be valid. And if they never get there, well, at least I tried and they were just sitting in my kitchen anyway.
Cindy, I live here in oklahoma, unfortunately we have seen many disasters, the other common thread is the overwhelming decency of people here, remember the bombing here the news crews couldn’t believe no looting occurred same 99 tornado, as im sure will be the same this time around. donations seem to go where they are needed and people are driving them to within a block of the effected areas. Please pray for us here, there are still, parents that cannot find their children, children that can’t find their parents and animals wandering aimlessly. It is beyond words, my heart is breaking.
not sure what each box top is worth but im just going to say each person that does this donates a nickle…if 5 million people did this that would = 250 thousand dollars, yes??? not a bad amount of money for such an easy thing…love the idea collin. even if my math is wrong…lol
Each Box Top is worth $.10!
Michelle,
I signed up online and I am following the school through their website. It looks to me that they get $.50 for each person that does this so that’s even better!
I clicked on the link you had on here and it kept saying page not found. I looked for it on fb too and couldn’t find it. Any help? I’d really like to do this and spread the word!
Never mind I figured it out. I’m on my phone and you can’t do it on a mobile device. Oops!
i dont see where to switch schools since ive done this already
Nice! Easy!
Every little bit will help!
Donated mine! Thank you for this wonderful idea!
What an awesome idea! Thanks for sharing! I just did this and posted it on FB.
YAY!!!! DEFINITELY made me smile and made my heart happy to see that you shared my idea on your page Collin! 🙂 You have so many followers that love to help others. What a great way to spread the word. The promotion lasts till the 26th!!!! Every little bit helps, especially in a time like this. My heart just breaks for these families.
Everyone share this on your facebook! 🙂 Thanks so much Collin
I just did this. Earnings to date for Plaza Towers Elementary is: 1,750. Can’t wait to see this climb. I few hours ago they were only at 105.
I just did this and they are now at 1900 Box tops!
AWESOME!!!!!!! THAT IS SO GOOD. I CANT WAIT TO SEE HOW MANY THEY GET. THIS IS FREE MONEY FOR THEM THEY DEFINITELY NEED!
now 2010! Briarwood only has 290 box tops though
they’re now at 5170!!!
I think we flooded the server. Says it is unavailable right now. 🙁
I think it’s a lovely idea, but I also think if everyone donated even 5.00 in cash it would be tremendous. Big groups like the Red Cross have buying power that make their dollars go further. Your small donation multiplies when they use it.
don’t be a Debbie downer when people are trying to help.
I think she was just giving another example of how to help. Geeze.
Funny, I only see one negative person and it wasn’t Meg!
2145 box tops for plaza now!
Up to 2175 now.
2300. Thanks!
Thanks for this idea. I just feel so helpless when my husband is a student and we are living off student loans and food stamps to give back. I wish I had money to donate. I do donate my surplus of items from couponing that I have to my church. They are really good with humanitarian aid.
Just donated and shared on my FB. They are up to 2620 🙂
they are up to 2,640… Keep going Hipsters! 🙂
Just donated myself, my mother and my 2 daughters. They are on 2815!
Unfortunately doesn’t work if you already used the promotion for your own school 🙁
This is a wonderful idea! I just donated and they are at 3295! Awesome!!!
I just looked at Plaza is at 3600, but Briarwood is just at 500. Briarwood could use help too! I did Plaza when I first read this post, but then I remembered I had read there were two schools that were affected! (but we can only do it once)
Keep posting the number total you see when you do this. 🙂
Agree…. I keep coming back to see the current total! 🙂
3660 now!
Just donated to Briarwood. Plaza is at 3995 and Briarwood at 560.
Plaza is 4800 now! Keep it going!
Plaza is now at 5390….sweet!
5760 now!! Woot, woot!!!
Briarwood: 635 (They got mine) and Plaza: 5745
Maybe Collin could make this stay as the first post until the 26th so that everyone would get a chance to see it and donate. Just a thought. And just donated my 5 too.
I just picked Briarwood and they are at 655. Plaza Towers is at 5895. I think it is a great idea to mail Box Tops to these schools as well, but I am going to wait a bit until things settle down and then e-mail the school and make sure they have the ability to accept them right now. Not every school participates so I want to make sure they have a coordinator first! Don’t forget about Campbells Labels for education too! Thanks for the post and great job everyone! Every little bit helps!
How did you see Plaza Towers total without having donated to them?
Briarwood: 675; Plaza Towers: 6130. I donated mine to Briarwood.
briarwood 730
PLAZA TOWERS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – 6530 BOX TOPS
BRIARWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – 735 BOX TOPS
Ok not to sound like a dork our anything but what are box tops. I’ve heard of them but seeing as my three kids are not in school yet I’ve always just looked passed all this. Where do i get them (obviously from boxes) but what kind and what do i do. Thanks for any info I’d like to help out too!!!!,!#
Each one is worth 10 cents. They can normally be turned in at any school. My teacher friends collect them too. LOTS of products have them, like Pillsbury, many cereals, Cascadian Farms, Avery, Kleenex, seriously – you will be seeing them everywhere! This post in particular is talking about e-box tops, which you can donate 5 to any school online. Just like their FB page.
Thank you. I’ll start to collect and will donate online as well…
God Bless you for sharing and Thank you for your help in getting help to Oklahoma.
plaza towers 7715 briarwood 880… can someone please post the address where theyre sending their box tops? This was an awesome idea. Thanks for sharing
The address for Plaza Towers is in Colin’s post; Plaza Towers Elementary School, 852 SW 11th St., Moore, OK 73160. Briarwood’s from one of the comments; Briarwood Elementary School 14901 S Hudson Ave Oklahoma City, OK 73170. Someone (not an official rep for BTFE) commented on the Box Tops facebook page to send them to the main Box Tops office with a note with the school’s info so they know who it’s for, not sure if they would accept them that way or not?
oops… Thank you. Dunno why I didn’t catch that
Unless they make some sort of exception for these schools, I would not recommend sending them directly to Box Tops. I am a coordinator and we have to particular procedure to follow for them to be properly credited to our school. The coordinator has to submit them with a specific form with the school ID, signed to verifying the amount, bundled in groups of 50, bonus Box Tops separate, etc.
7900 for Plaza Towers and 895 for Briarwood
I just donated my box tops and shared on my face book. I hope more will help.
Thanks for sharing this, what a nice thing to do.
8565 box tops!
975 for Briarwood
Briarwood is at about 950 I think it said when I clicked for them.
9.470 for Plaza
Done and shared! Thank you!
9990 for Plaza, 1065 for Briarwood. Keep sharing!
