Radius fractures are one of the most common fractures in women. I would NEVER use this tool.

that’s what I was thinking…that’s an awful lot of pressure on forearms…

Sandra, I just wanted to note that your forearms are attached to your hands, which is what everyone uses to lift things. Any pressure applied to your hands is applied to your forearms. In fact, lifting with your hands presents more pressure on your radius and ulna than would the weight being applied at the upper part of the forearm. This would be due to leverage. You have more “meat” on your upper forearm, which certainly helps to distribute the weight more directly to the shoulder.

It all goes on your spine though and then your legs. There’s no getting around that. Post-menopausal women certainly always need to watch the weight their bones bear. The moving straps that are attached to harnesses that distribute the weight directly to your shoulders and spine are probably your best bet.

Actually, my husband & I have owned these since they premiered on QVC over 10 years ago, and they are fabulous. I don’t know the exact physics, but the weight is distributed in such a way with these that lifting heavy objects becomes quite easy. You have to experiment a bit to get used to them at first. Every time we use them successfully we crack up at how amazing they are. We’re nearing 60 years of age, and I’m not in the best shape, if that further informs you!

We bought one of these years ago when we were moving and the guys (hubby included) swore it made everything so much easier. Well worth buying.

My hubby and his brother have used a set of these for years moving furniture around our houses. Although it’s not really something that we use every week, it’s definitely one of those things we are glad to have on hand for moving larger objects up and around precarious places that just sliding on those furniture moving discs won’t work on like up stairs. We bought ours from the Uhaul location for around $30, so their estimate of reg. retail value matches what we paid. We’ve had a lot of friends borrow our set when they moved too.

I have to praise these things! We are a military family and have moved ourselves a few times. My upper body strength isn’t great and getting large wooden furniture up to a second floor bedroom isn’t easy for me. With these things, it isn’t light but makes it totally manageable! These are sooo good to have in a closet!

Highly recommend! I’ve used these straps (with male and female helpers) over the years to move couches, washing machines, clothes dryers and fitness equipment.
