$1 Lipstick? I dunno guys. In my experience, you get what you pay for. Anyone have any experience with this line of make-up? In reviews, I read that it tastes gross. Lol. Though it did get high reviews. I wouldn’t want to torture my Husband with gross lipstick lol. BUT, if it’s decent then WOO HOO $1 lipstick! Any input from y’all would be appreciated. And as always… THANK YOU Hip2Save!

I’m not sure about the lipstick because i don’t wear it. But I use the lip gloss, the eye shadow duos, and many of the make-up brushes/tools and I love them all! Oh, and the tweezers are the best i have ever used, seriously! HTH 🙂

I was a huge fan of Yves Saint Laurent touche eclat concealer. I cringed every time I bought the $40 a tube, but it was the only thing that worked for me. I saw the e.l.f. concealer and highlighter in Target, and I thought I’d give it a try for $3. It’s awesome and works just as well at the $40 one. I also really like the primer eyeshadow. I’ve never tried any of their lip products. The little sheets of shine eraser papers are also really nice to keep around. They take shine away but don’t leave a powdery layer like some compacts.

I’ve never used their lipsticks, but their brushes and eye shadows are what I typically use and purchase repeatedly.

    • Ashley

I like their lipsticks (my fave is gypsy!) They are nice but not long lasting at all…I don’t think they taste like anything lol but I pair gypsy with wet n wilds 99cent lip liner in fab fuchsia then it only needs touched up after I eat 🙂 but definately look up swatches before you buy because the elf site isn’t accurate. Hope that helps! Oh and I second their makeup brushes 🙂

WOW, thanks so much Valerie, Micki, Britt & Ashley for taking the time to reply. I guess it’s all a matter of trial and error and one’s own personal preference. I think I might give some of these products a shot… might skip on the lipstick though. That’s def. one thing I can be picky about. Have a wonderful day all!

I agree, their products are actually very good! And when you get the goodie bags they are usually awesome!

    • Shea

I’m excited to hear that. I’m running low on make-up and thought I’d give some of their stuff a try. I’ve used their duo eye shadows and lip gloss before so I hope the rest is as good!

I am a new customer and trying to place an order. When I get to billing info I keep getting an error message that says birthday cannot be left blank even though it is clearly shown. It won’t let me proceed. I called but there is heavy volume and I emailed, but I am afraid my cart will empty. Any suggestions?

I may be the only one, but I did do one of these deals before and found the makeup to be very cheap. The shadow did not blend well and did not stay on. I have to agree with Ashley on the lipstick… it does not last long at all. I have not used the brushes. I ended up giving the makeup to my daughter to use for play makeup. Then again, I use a lot of MAC, Bare Essentials, Too Face, Lorac and other higher end products so maybe I’m not the best person to give input… However, this is jus MY personal oppinion.

    • Brooke

      oops, I meant “opinion.” 🙂

    • Lisa

I agree. I don’t use much makeup, but I hated what I got in a previous deal. It doesn’t save you money when you can’t use the product.

elf’s makeup is kind of hit or miss, but they do have some good stuff. The “studio” makeup brushes (the $3 ones) are decent for the price. I would stay away from the $1 eyeshadows because I’ve found them to be sort of chalky, but the $3 “baked” eyeshadows are decent. The baked blush is also good. A few things I can think of off the top of my head from the $1 range: The various applicators (always need those), the clear mascara (makes a good topcoat over regular mascara), the “zit zapper” stick, the blotting papers, the lip glosses in the squeezy tubes (not the ones with the wands), and the Shimmering Facial Whip (white makes a good highlighter). I also really like the $2 jumbo lip gloss crayons. These are just my opinions of course!

This stuff is made in China, so yeah you get what you pay for. Most makeup like L’oreal, Covergirl, Revlon, etc. is made in USA. Rimmel is usually made in England. You can buy better brands instead of E.L.F. for cheap using coupons or on clearance.

  7. Becca C.

There are some select items from e.l.f. that are decent: the eyelid primer works just as well as any brand name primer, the zit zapper is actually effective against pimples, the $3 baked eyeshadow isn’t too bad, the high definition powder, the studio eyebrow kit and cream eyeliner are decent also. The studio brushes are okay as well. Their makeup tools and accessories (mirrors, compacts, train cases, etc) are all not bad for the price too. I would say their Studio line is a lot better than the Essential line.

However, I don’t suggest getting any of the cheap palette eyeshadows or any of the lip products. Get those from somewhere else.

This is my review on all the products I’ve tried.

  8. Andrea

I won’t buy their makeup bc it’s made in China but I will buy their tools like brushes, etc.

  9. Sarah

I did get their face powder just to have a spare in my purse and don’t really like it, but it is good in a pinch. I am however a HUGE fan of their brushes and tools! Great products for a cheap price.

  10. shayna

I have only ever used their liquid eyeliner and kohl eyeliner but I love both! So I decided to try it out. I got $35 worth for free shipping plus the free mystery bag. I think I got 19 items no counting the mystery bag, including eye shadow, mascara, lipstick, brushes, primer, lashes, brow kit, blush/bronzer set, eyelash curler, liners, and a few other thing. I’m excited!

  11. JayLynn

I am absolutely in love with the eye shadow primer. My shadow creases by lunch without it and with it I am good until early evening (and what a bargain at only $1). I also am a huge fan of the lip gloss, the ones with the sponge tip (not the wand, it was sticky). The zit zapper stick and wrinkle line filler are excellent products although they are not technically makeup. I could go on but these are a few of my faves. I have ordered from E.L.F. several times and have only been dissatisfied with a few of their items.

  12. Candi

I recently started using Elf and have been very happy with it.

  13. Megan

they primer is worth it for $1! for a few more bucks grab free shipping over $35 and get an early jump on teen stocking stuffers with the dollar items!
