Anyone know where to donate wedding dresses?

Oi- donating dresses is a pain! I bought mine in 2011 a size 6 from David’s Bridal and it was minimally altered (half inch of hemming). I emailed 3 different sites asking them if they’d like it- saying I didn’t want a tax form or anything just for the dress to go to a good cause. They practically wanted a DNA sample! They wanted all the measurements from it (heck if I know- a size 6 minus a half inch from the bottom!), style and designer name, how much I paid, when I cleaned it last, pictures from every angle imaginable along with a BUNCH of other stuff. After about 7 emails back and forth between several locations I said F this and sold it at a garage sale for $1 to some kids for dress up.

I wanted to donate my dress too and finding it nearly impossible. For a start, my designer ($5900) gown is 16 years old. It was cleaned & vacuum-packed 10 days after I’d worn it.
Somehow, some way, this dress will go to a veteran or bride of a vet even if I had to take a full page ad in the Chicago Tribune!

Does anyone know what time the expo is in Tampa? My friend just sent me this link and my fiancé and I are both active duty and have deployed to qualifying sites 3 times in the last 5 years, and I need to put in a request chit to get off and drive to the event! Thank you!

There’s a phone number included. I’d call them to find out the date.

        Oops, I mean time 🙂

This is awesome – I love seeing this kind of stuff! So thankful that there are companies/people out there still who are willing to honor & reward our servicemen & women and their families!!!

    Wow *0* love this!

This is amazing! My husband and I married right before he was deployed and we want to have a “real” wedding when he comes back home. Unfortunately, NYC is already full! Oh well. I hope some of my other fellow hip2save readers were able to get one though 🙂
