[h2s_box]The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition™ is an activity the entire family will enjoy. Based on the tradition Carol Aebersold began with her family in the 1970s, this cleverly rhymed children’s book explains that Santa knows who is naughty and/or nice because he sends a scout elf to every home. During the holiday season, the elf watches children by day and reports to Santa each night. When children awake, the elf has returned from the North Pole and can be found hiding in a different location. This activity allows The Elf on the Shelf to become a delightful hide-and-seek game. Each Tradition-in-a-Box™ comes with its very own scout elf, a hardbound children’s book and a keepsake box for easy storage. [/h2s_box]

** As a price comparison, The Elf on the Shelf currently sells for $29.95 on Amazon.com and is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars by over 900 reviewers! 😀

Costco has them for 11.99. Doesn’t come with the book but with a advent calendar.

    • Andrea

wow thats a great price but I have don’t have a Costco anywhere near me 🙁

  3. soccerx2

costco one is more like a plush not really the elf.

    • Laura

Do you think it would work? My daughter asked about it and is interested, but my twins are 11 and I am not sure this is worth getting the expensive version. I got the Costco one and was hoping it would work for our purposes, but, having never done this, wasn’t too sure. Appreciate the insight. Thanks!

I’ve seen on ideas on Pinterest with different elves, I’m sure it will work for your family how you want it to.

careful if you buy the girl elf. she doesn’t come with the skirt and you have to buy that separately. I just ordered the boy one for DD! I’m excited!

I got mine at the end of last years Christmas sale at Barnes And Nobel for $2 each!!! I bought all I could to give out as gifts this year. I now realize the sale was cause they were going to change the elf doll to a more rounded face. Whatever its still a elf on the shelf.

    • heather

Steffers…would you be willing to sell one?? My daughter’s has disappeared and I can’t replace it with one of the “new” ones! UGH, why do they change things?!

  6. KWG

Did anyone do this deal today? Just trying to find something to bring my total up another $1.04 so I can get free shipping.

  8. Carol

I have been waiting for a sale and gave in and bought one at our local toy store this past weekend. I did have a $10 off $50 purchase so I guess I did get a sale but I remember this sale happened last year too. I would love to get them on sale after the holidays for all the little ones in my family! I purchased the boy 2 years ago and this year purchased the girl that way each of my children will have to use with their own families when they are older.

I’m trying to find one with “brown eyes & light skin” can any one advise? Please not the plush. Thank you.

    • Jessica

There’s other perks to the membership too I believe when you spend a certain amount =)

  11. Jeannet

    • Destinee

I think you might be referring to the game..?

  13. T.S.

I have been wanting to do this for my son since last year but $24 is WAY out of my price range. Is it the Elf that is that pricey or the book? Do they sell the Elf cheaper without the book?? I wanna get one before my son is too old to care! lol
