I’m considering getting this seat, does anyone have any opinions about it?

    • Alison Matalanis

I was wondering the same thing!

    • Alison Matalanis

Sorry, Janie. My comment was for Recycle Bank, not your comment. I actually have this car seat for my older daughter. It has been great for her. I really like the dark colors as they hide stains/dirt.

    • Nikki

We have this one. Great price! Excellent seat.

    • Brittany

Britax convertibles are outgrown very early by height so if your child is on the tall side this isn’t a great choice even at this price.

      • Rebecca

Thanks Brittany, I was about to check that. I have a tall boy so I’ll pass on this one.

        • me

a good option for a tall kiddo is the Evenflo Sureride. Easy to install and use. comfy ride. good price (especially if you have a 30% and Kohls cash at Kohls:))

    • Sharon

Do it! This is an amazing price. I have 3 Britaxs (I think one was a roundabout). They’re awesome. I switched to one other brand, but it was much harder to install. I’ve found Britaxs easy (as it can be for a car seat) to install and great for travelling (there are places to stores the latches, etc for easy travelling). I’ve NEVER heard anyone regret buying a Britax.

    • erin

They are the safest seats out there. My kids are tall and I still got years’ use out of them. My 7 year old is now in their 5 point Frontier 85.

      • Brittany

No they are not! They are perfectly safe seats and if you love yours that’s great but are NOT safER than other brands.

        • Ashley

All carseats meet the MINIMUM standards, not the same standards. Yes, some are safer than others.

          • erin

            EXACTLY!

        • erin

wow – work for Gracco or something? Post a link backing up your statement

          • Ashley

I dont work for Graco, I don’t even own one…but I am am a polymer engineer that formulates the plastics for several of these brands and THEY ARE DIFFERENT. I’d suggest calling the different customer services and get the breakdowns from them. We use Recaro exclusively at our house. Car seats are not the same, they all just have the same minimum criteria. Some go above and beyond that minimum criteria, and some don’t. The extra cost isn’t always bells and whistles- it’s sometimes the foundation of the structure of the car seat. Google Moms need to stop worrying about what you “research on the internet”, I’d love to give you the exact numbers and figures, but unless you want to know three years of an Engineering Degree, I’ll spare you the details.

    • Amanda

My 4 year old sits in this seat and has plenty of room to grow. She’s a string bean and won’t be hitting the 50lb weight limit any time soon.

    • Brittny Savely Epler

I love this seat got it in store 2.5 years ago on clearance and has been awesome. My daughter is still rear facing in it at 3.5 years old.

  2. Kristie

    $5 off recyclebank work?

    • Alison Matalanis

Just bought it. Recycle bank worked. It paid for the taxes….sigh. 🙂

    • sharon

you can use retailmenot code also

  3. Christina

Awesome price on a very reliable brand. If I didn’t have too many carseats already I would definitely get this! This is a great price for ANY convertible carseat.

  4. Heidi

We used one for each of our boys and loved them! I am a very happy Britax customer 🙂

  5. Nia

    Best brand

    • Brittany

No it’s not. Despite what Britax wants you to think, their seats are NOT any safer than any other seat on the market. Britax convertible seats are actually poor choices for most children due to the fact that they are outgrown very early.

      • Marie

Would you mind posting where you got this info from? as far as I know almost all convertible car seats accommodate children rear facing from five to 35 pounds and children forward facing from 20 pounds up to 50 pounds, which is great since they will just go to a booster. Britax shows this info on their description.

        • Brittany

It’s not the weight that’s an issue, it’s the height. Most convertibles now rear face to 40 pounds and forward face to 65-70. However only a few have height limits that match those weights and Britax isn’t one of them. Diono Radian, Graco Headwise/MySize/size 4me, Chicco Nextfit, Safety1st Guide65 will all last MUCH longer than a Britax convertible because even though the weight limits are all similar, they don’t have low height restrictions.

        • me

I think what she’s getting at is that they are outgrown by height earlier than alot of seats, especially for extended rearfacing. the highest harness slots on this seat are 17″ which will get most kids rearfacing til age 2 but that is the bare minimum recommended by the APA and really they and the manufacturers and the NHSTA all recommend you rear face to the extent the seat allows so buying a seat that allows longer rearfacing is preferred by most. also, Britax seats are not known for having lots of leg room while rearfacing either.
Many seats are now available that rearface to 40# and forward to 65# and at this price even. Britax seats pass all the same safety tests as every seat(even the $39 Scenera) on the market. They do generally have more “bells and whistles” and are often more user friendly than the cheaper ones but some of those are becoming highly recommended by previously “britax only” users and car seat techs.

This seat is still a great seat(and I’m not a Britax user-out of principle: $$) it just will not likely be the last seat you’d need to buy before boostering your child.

vboos at homail dot com if you have questions;)

          statistical info from https://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=150114

      • Katie Bennett

My three children have all been in Britax seats the last several years. None of them have outgrown their seats. My 3.5 year old is still in the classic Marathon and still has room to grow. My 5 year old in the Frontier and definitely plenty of room to grow and my daughter in the Boulevard 70 and she’s on the petite side and still rearfacing at 15 months- plenty of room.

        • me

I think most of the people referring to the Britax convertibles(not including the frontier) being quickly outgrown are meaning that it is often outgrown rearfacing long before most other seats. my just turned 2 yr old has outgrown it rfing cause he has a long torso and a huge head so his head is within an inch of the top of the seat. in a few others on the market, he has a year or more to go rearfacing. Britax convertibles are also not known for lots of leg room for older rearfacing kiddos so it can be a frustration.
on the other hand, Roundabouts fit great in small spaces and are easy to use correctly every time.

      • Cassidy

I have this seat and we’re still using it for my very tall 4 year old daughter. The thing that makes me love it is the ease of use on the straps. A cheap seat, like my Graco that I had before, will end up being a huge pain to adjust the tension on, very quickly. And this price is pretty much incredible.

        • Jasmine

This was the info I was looking for. We need to replace a seat that has infuriating straps! I feel like I can never get the thing as tight a I want even when I pull as hard as I can! So you find these straps easier to use?

      • erin

What’s better about Britax is that they aren’t trying to make a seat that can accommodate a 8 pound baby AND a 45 pound kid like other carseats are. They make a seat for a certain height/weight and leave well enough (excellent actually) alone. Anyone whining about them not “lasting long enough” doesn’t know that’s by design. They are safer without a doubt. YES they all pass the same safety standard, but in which car do you feel safer – a fiat or Humvee? I was in an accident that totaled my car – I had broken bones etc… my children didn’t even have a bruise and the impact was on my daughter’s side. They are easy to install which also makes them safer. Spend the money – be frugal somewhere else. I paid well over 250 for my Frontiers and I don’t regret it a bit

        • Brianna

Erin, I agree. I do pay big bucks for what I feel is the best and safest carseat for my children. I have a Britax B-safe, Frontier, and Boulevard. My children are priceless and I like the peace of mind knowing they are properly restrained in a properly fitted and installed carseat, so if something happens I won’t have any what ifs.
I came across an accident years ago in which a baby was ejected through the sunroof in his carseat because it was not installed properly, so I cannot stress how important it is to have a proper carseat for height and weight of a child and installed correctly. The carseat was not installed correctly and had little padding for the impact. User error is a huge issue.

          • Em

Padding is not the issue- the way their head is kept inline is. The whole point of a car seat is to cradle their head-neck since they’re so disproportionate

            • erin

What Brianna means is that Britax has Styrofoam inserts (much like parts of both Indycars and Indycar walls) – this drastically reduces the inpact on the child in event of a collision.

        • Em

This seat works for 5lb to 50lb…that’s a 45lb span!! Just like the majority of car seats out there so that’s a weird comment

          • Alissa

I don’t normally comment here, but I have to say something on this issue. I have done daycare for over 13 years and I have three children of my own. I have used every brand of seat there is. I will now buy only Britax seats for convertible and booster seats. All car seats must pass MINIMUM safety standards, but they are not all created equal. Britax seats are so much easier to use than any other brand I’ve owned. The straps never twist or tangle and anyone can install them. The more difficult a seat is to install, the more likely it is to be installed incorrectly which leads to injuries. Britax seats are worth the money. I just threw out a Graco seat recently. It frustrated me to no end so it went in the trash. And the deal above is a great deal on an awesome seat! If you’re considering purchasing it, I highly recommend!

  6. rachel

Did you know that if you have an Entertainment Book, you can visit entertainment.com for a $7 off $70 target.com coupon? It is valid as many times as you need it, and my entertainment books pay for themselves very quickly that way 🙂

    • rachel

ETA…I am not in need of this car seat, but I was reminded of the entertainment code because it helped me purchase my Eddie Bauer convertible seats for $65 each!

    • Heather

Has this always been in the Entertainment Book? I have been missing out!!!

    • Stacy P.B.

AWESOME! I don’t do a lot of shopping on Target.com, but great coupon!

  7. Zos

I do have it and love it. Baby is very comfortable in it. Just got brutal buster seat and live it too. U can actually take out the cover and wash it but would recommend to take pics while u do it so it’s easier to put it back.

  8. Emily

Best car seat ever. Highest in safety rating and fits tall kids I have 2 of these. And my son who is in the 90% for height fits in perfectly. Wish they were on sale at the time I bought mine because I paid $200 each.

  9. Emily

I actually went to the national highway and safety transportation website for their car seat ratings.

    • Brittany

There are no safety ratings for car seats and especially none by the NTSB. Any ratings you’ve seen were for ease of use. Britax is a perfectly safe brand but please know your child is not any safer than they would be in a $40 Cosco seat.

    • me

Just so you know though, those are “Ease of Use” ratings not safety ratings(at least that I could find on their site) All car seats pass the same safety tests. Easier to use does often equate to more likely to use correctly and therefore child may be safer for that reason though.

Also, my long torsoed just turned 2 year old has outgrown this seat rear facing so I’d need a different seat to keep him the safest I can. I think most of the folks saying that its outgrown quickly are referring to using it rearfacing beyond the legal minimum.

  10. Brianna

I have had nothing but Britax carseats for each of my tall kids and I love them. They are comfortable, are easy to adjust and use properly. My only complaint is the belly pad seems to slip off and get lost easily, but Britax offers replacements. Britax also has a Registry Rewards program, so if you buy several of their products, you can get a free $300+ Boulevard carseat.

  11. Em

Has anyone found a cheaper car seat than the Cosco Scenaro from Walmart? It’s time for yet another one and we are looking for the cheapest option. I’m thinking $35 might be the one but wanted to see if anyone else had seen one.

    • AnnaD

i think i paid 40 for a graco booster at target but i think costco has a graco for $35 also

    • me

The Scenera is generally the cheapest unless you find an amazing clearance deal somewhere.

    • Amanda

The Scenara is a very small seat and outgrown very quickly. I would get this seat, if you can afford it.

      • Em

        Amanda- that is incorrect

    • KCV

I’ve had the Scenera since dd was old enough for front facing seat. She’s now 3.5 years old and no big complaints and I feel safe with it. Easy to install and clean and perfect for the PRICE.

  12. Jen

We have this car seat and 2 older generation roundabouts. We love them, have had no problems. My 18 month old uses the older one rear facing (only goes to 40 lbs) and my 4.5 year old uses this one. She is slightly above average height and has a lot of room to grow in this seat. She is about 35 pounds. This is a great price!

  13. Renae

Does Anyone Know If This Seat Has The Adjustable HarnesS Where You Don’t Have To Take The Seat Apart?

    • me

You don’t have to take theseat apart but if its forward facing you will have to reinstall it. its not a front adjust seat (no-rethread) like the Evenflo Triumph advance or Chicco Nextfit, Britax Marathon/Boulevard or eventhe Graco Size 4 Me though.

  14. Jen

Oh and it’s very easy to install and feels very nice and sturdy. We have a Cosco high back booster for our other car and it feels so much more cheaply made.

  15. Brittany

This is a GREAT seat. My average-sized (50th percentile height & weight) almost 5-year-old still uses his. It’s very sturdy, comfortable and easy to install. I’ve had no issues. It was all that I needed in a convertible seat. He’s moved up to a harnessed booster in my car, but still uses this seat in our secondary car. He outgrew the Roundabout 55 that we had in my car much sooner.

  16. Priya

Thanks Collin! There’s an additional $5 off $50 coupon on retailmenot.com for baby items in Target. 😉

  17. Erin

Thank you! My first baby is due any day now and I only have 1 car seat and needed a second for my husbands car. I love your site, you have saved me a TON of money over the years.

  18. Lindsay

I have this exact carseat for my 2 1/2 year old and a graco carseat for my 4 year old. We never used the BRITAX rear facing. I do like how easy it is to take in and out of the car, but it’s definitely a smaller seeming car seat. My daughter who uses it is TINY and my older daughter is very tall for her age. On occasion my 4 year old has used this car seat and I’ve always thought she looked so big in it. I feel a lot more comfortable with my older daughter in her car seat which seems much more sturdy and a better fitting size for her. Just my two cents.

  19. Jasmine

Awesome, I got it for $85.19 OOP after using the $5 from retailmenot and the 5% from my redcard, plus I went through ebates for 5% back. We have been needing a new carseat for a while, so I had to jump on this deal! Thanks.

  20. Sammie

Can anyone tell me about the cushioning of this seat, is it comfortable for baby to sleep in and also how easy is it to get baby in and out of this seat?

    • Stacy P.B.

Easy! If you install it properly, what I love is that their head doesn’t flop forward while their asleep.

    • Katie

Way comfortable! I have 2 of this seat and I love it. What a great deal!

  21. Kris

We have 3 britax car seats… 1 roundabout and a frontier. I have absolutely LOVED the roundabout and just bought another one. GREAT DEAL!! These usually run $150 and rarely can you ever find one for under $100 dollar.

  22. Rita

    Hi
Can we use 20% off 75 coupon from black friday deals with this?

    • Brandi

The one I got says in-store only.

  23. Steph B

I own 2 already and Love them. I just purchased another 2 for $84.19 with 5$ off retail me not and using my target card! I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for and you can’t put a cost on your children’s safety. To each their own… Well worth the money for this family=) Thanks, Collin and Priya (retail me not-Info)!!!

  24. adrienne

This is a steal! Purchased one for our spare car… I have no problems with the bargain option of the Cosco Scenera, but for $30 more than I paid for that, this is a MUCH better value. After the discounts posted above, it was under $80!

  25. savannah

I’m not getting free shipping. Are you guys getting free shipping?

  26. Em

I just wanted to comment about one thing. I was a paramedic for a long, long time before going to post graduate school. You know how many dead or severly injured kids I saw that were properly buckled up in a car seat- no matter the brand? Not very many. EVERY SINGLE ONE (with the exception of vehicle fires) of those kids was not injured due to impact or lack of cushion or whatever else everyone keeps saying- they were injured or killed by other objects in the vehicle. TVs, tool boxes, impalment by colored pencils, etc. So- forgive me if I buy the cheap car seat. My properly installed cheap car seat is just as good as your properly installed Britax. So, get over your need to look like super mom with your expensive car seat and pack up all of the loose objects in your car and stop acting like the Britax is some kind of miracle seat. It’s not. Ask any car seat expert- I bet you their kids are in Graco or Cosco seats. I know the 7 or so that I know are!

    • adrienne

Like I said above, I have no problem with the Cosco Scenera. I own one and use it. It is safe, but not very comfortable (my kid cannot sleep soundly in it) and also more challenging to install and adjust. I can compare because I have both Cosco and Britax seats. That said, for the sale price here, this is a great buy. I’m happy to pay an extra $30 for the bells and whistles that make life more comfortable for both my child and me. It’s not about being “super mom” or owning a “miracle seat,” at least not for me. You make an excellent point about loose objects, however, so thank you for that.

  27. Kris

YES… they are soft and great for sleeping. My 2.5 year old falls asleep in his on long road trips and because of the natural recline he is comfortable and doesn’t have to worry about his head falling forward.

Don’t hesitate… this is a great seat at a ROCK BOTTOM price.

  28. Lala

Gotta get the best for your kids because all those peeps textin and driving!!

  29. Tiffany

Yes stop with the brand snobs. I know many mamas who thinks they are superiors because they feed their kids organic carrots, organic kale chips and use burlap totes for shopping and outfit their kids in the latest gymboree and wear their Toms shoes and act like they are cool. Yet have no clue how to eat a pomelo! Lol

  30. Carrie

Thanks for posting! I purchased this car seat and the britax frontier booster seat (234.00). For new subscribers to target baby text alerts you can get 10% by texting baby 1 to 827438. Red card 5%. Ebates 5%. Great savings!

  31. Ashli

It’s really sad that this “great deal” had to turn into a battle of the brands. If you don’t want to buy it, don’t. If you do, great!

    • Cynthia

      Amen!!!

  32. Hairy mart

I have been using Graco for awhile now and have no issues. Britax is the top of the line I believe, if you can afford it
    Go for it!

  33. Cynthia

When you go to Target’s website the price is listed as $99. How do you get it for $89??

  34. S

It’s $99 now?? So sad my baby was fussy all day yesterday I couldn’t jump on this deal and now I finally have time it went up $10 =(
