I accidentally threw out the first one with $10.00 OFF $10.00 purchase. I called and told them and they were able to verify (with my customer # from another catalog) that I was sent the offer and they honored it!!!

Hey LLBean shoppers I have a question for you. They have a lifetime warranty on their backpacks right? What if I was given a back pack from them but it was older and stained and monogrammed with someone else’s initials. Could I Technically turn it in for a new one? I’m not really sure if it’s morally ok but technically I could right?

Yes, I would think so and it is not a moral issue. It is their gaurantee for something to last. If you found a pair of their pants at the thrift and then they got a hole in them, wouldn’t you take them up on their offer? Same thing. Keep in mind the may only clean and mend the back pack it may not be a new one. Still I would get it cleaned and mended if I were you.
Let’s be real… You bought one in a thrift store or a garage sale and are asking if you can turn it in for a new one.
I returned my daughter’s jacket last year. The Velcro came loose. No questions asked. I live near a store and they just told me to exchange it for a new one. I don’t think that I would return an item if it was stained, as this is not their fault?
I just tried returning an item to lands end and it was a complete different story. They looked up my order history. Maybe this is to prevent people from returning items they haven’t actually used…

Yeah. I just think the guarantees are more for the original purchaser. And I am being real about being given the backpack. If it was for me I would use it no problem. But my child dosent want to wear a backpack with someone else’s initials on it. I think ill just keep it for play only.
Have you tried buying a rip stitcher? It’s really a handy tool and can cut through the monogramming…I have to say that their backpacks last

There is no lifetime guarantee at L.L.Bean. It just seems that way because they are so generous in their returns. The 100% satisfaction guarantee warants the satisfaction of the customer in the item’s use and experience but not the life of the product. They most certainly do not want people returning things they were not the original purchasers of or original gift recipient of. Specifically I mean to refer to the comment above about going to a thrift store and then sending the item back to LLB. That’s just wrong. You may have used and washed the item you bought many times over and if you feel it should go back that’s up to you the consumer, even if it’s been monogrammed. But’s honestly, no product will last for ever and we savvy shoppers can be true to that. Can’t we?

Just that a purchase at a thrift is still an item now in your possession and should the zipper break or the material run thin and rip it is guaranteed. Their items are guaranteed not the purchaser.

I think the idea is to get people who don’t necessarily shop there an incentive to buy something to become a customer. It stinks that they don’t give them to loyal customers.

Agreed. I shop year-round at Beans and spend a lot of money there… And none of my catalogs have this special offer. It bums me out. I pulled all the catalogs out of the recycle bin and no such luck. They should honor their loyal customers with these special promotions… Too bad.
