Bacon Jalapeno Cheese Ball Hip2Save

What could be better than bacon, jalapeno, and cheese? How about a homemade cheese ball with all of the above?! Let me just say it does not disappoint! If you have a holiday gathering soon and need a simple yet amazing dip – take this one! I love traditional cheese ball recipes with pecans and sharp cheddar, but this one is so different and wonderful. It has tons of flavor and will be gone in flash so you may want to make a couple. 🙂

Bacon Jalapeño Cheese Ball

Adapted from Home Sick Texan

8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (2 ounces)
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 jalapeños, stems and seeds removed, diced, divided
6 pieces cooked bacon, crumbled, divided (about 6 ounces)
Salt to taste
Crackers for serving

How to make a cheeseball

Mix together the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, parsley, garlic, cumin, Worcestershire sauce, half of the diced jalapeños and half of the crumbled cooked bacon. Taste and adjust seasonings to your liking and add salt.

Place the remaining diced jalapeños and bacon on a plate. Stir together so that it’s well mixed. With your hands, roll the cheese mixture into a ball. (It helps to get your hands a little wet so no sticking.)

Place ball on the plate and roll in the jalapeños and bacon until covered.

Chill covered for at least one hour before serving. Serve with crackers.

Yield: 12 servings

*My notes: Jalapenos without the seeds really aren’t very spicy and taste great in this combo. If you don’t like that taste, you may want to substitute green onion or bell peppers. When chopping jalapeños, wear gloves (I made this cheese ball and touched my eyeball accidentally an hour later and ouch – so please wear gloves!). This can totally be made ahead and placed in the fridge for a day or so!

This recipe is such a keeper and you’ll get asked for it a lot. The bacon makes it taste smoky and is awesome with the sharp cheese. Enjoy.
