DIY Microwave Popcorn
Ingredients:
1/3 cup popping corn
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon coconut oil, or butter
Directions:
Place corn in a paper sack along with oil and salt. Fold sack closed. Place in microwave for about 3 minutes until you hear kernels stop popping a few seconds apart. Take out, shake, and enjoy! 🙂
What’s your favorite way to flavor popcorn? Do you go with the traditional salt or something different?

Love it – thanks! We actually travel with our popcorn maker to avoid using microwave popcorn (here is how we make it: https://behealthybehappywellness.com/2012/10/frugal-friday-our-snack-of-choice/ ) so I’ll have to give this a shot – would work great for short trips if nothing else!
I just tried this. It’s great. We usually use the hot air ppoper but when I don’t feel like pulling it out or just need a smaller batch I’ll definitely do this again.
OMG!!!! I did this last night and it worked perfectly!!!
Not sure what I did wrong. The kernels were still popping yet I had burnt popcorn. I followed the directions provided. ??
Collin, you are so adorable! Watching your video reminds me of my hubby, who, is like you LOVES salt and popcorn! He eats a bag or three every single day, so this idea makes it so much easier for me to help support his crunchy habit! I think that the only thing that I will try different is to use a paper bag from the grocery store, and play around with the cooking time some. This way, I reuse the bags, it won’t be as oily and it will be bowl size, so less washing popcorn bowls! Thanks again, Collin….
How do ensure the popcorn doesn’t explode everywhere once it starts popping? The bag is closed but can it fold open?
I’ve never had that happen Laura, but you can use a microwave safe bowl with a plate or lid on top if worried – hope that helps.
