Calling all you Walgreens Shoppers! If you have yet to download the FREE Walgreens app (you can download it at iTunes or Google Play), I would encourage you to do so! In addition to being able to order prescription refills/photo prints, view the weekly ad, bonus buys, monthly savings book (and more!) from your phone, you can now clip digital coupons and add them directly to your Balance Rewards Card to use in-store! And the best part – some of these coupons are really rare like 30% off Lay’s Frito Baked Potato Chips, 25% off Lay’s Cheddar & Sour Cream Potato Chips and more!

[h2s_box]Check out this email I received from reader, Ciera….

The Walgreens app now has the ability to load digital coupons to your card! I loaded some and tested it out the other day and the coupon came off and told the cashier the coupon was applied and for me to verify that it was correct. A lot of the coupons had long expiration dates like 2015 and there a few coupons for a % off select items.

Have you tried out this app while shopping at Walgreens? If so, what did you think?

(Thanks, Ciera!)

Does anyone have a better explanation how to do this? I went to the app and into coupons and all that comes up are 2 online coupons….

    • Liz Lorant

I didn’t see them either but then I went to the play store and did the update to the app and now I see them!

      • oops!

Thanks! .. Just needed to update !

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hi Connie! When you first open the app, click on the Weekly Ad & Coupons icon and then click on “Start Clipping.” You can then browse through all of the available coupons. When you find ones you like, click the on the Clip icon located underneath each individual coupon. This will automatically load the coupon(s) to your Balance Rewards Card (you will be prompted to sign in to your Rewards account or register for an account if you have yet to sign up). Hope this helps!

      • Connie

Hmm, I don’t have those options in the app. Maybe I need to update it. I did get to them thru the website though, thanks!

    • oops!

I’m only able to get 20% off fragrances

    • Dash

You don’t need the app, I was able to log in on line to my Walgreens.com account and they have coupons there that you can load to your card. I’ve used them already and they work. But there was a lot of confusion between the cashiers and manager since they didn’t know about the digital coupons yet.

  2. Connie

Never mind. I figured it out. You have to go to Walgreens.com and into your acct there to add them, not through the app.

    • Meli

You need to update the wags app for the paperless coupon offers to show up. When you open the app up they’re listed with the weekly ad icon.

  3. Katy Miles

Can you stack manufacturer coupons on top of these?

    • Kay

It says that these are manufacturer coupons, so I assume not

  4. ccm

good question, hope someone can help

  5. Steph S.

    Cool! thanks 🙂

  6. BreB

You can access this through the app if you have the latest and greatest! Just make sure you have you’ve updated to the latest version.

  7. maria

When you are in the app on your phone, click on ‘Weekly Ad & coupons’, it might take a few seconds to appear. When you are at the correct screen you will see a blue balance rewards card in the top left corner. Close to the center of the screen you will see a phase the states ‘Start Clipping’ click on that and you should receive another screen with all the coupons that you can clip (add) to your card. They are listed by categories. Hope this helps everyone!!!

  8. susan

how do you get your balance rewards card hooked up to the app. I don’t even know what my br number is since I signed up online and use my phone number in the store.

  9. Nicole

I’m still not seeing the % off coupons. Any ideas? I’ve got the latest app update and went online, too.

    • Kim

Same here. All I’m getting is the regular coupons.com ones. Tried logging in to the regular website and updating the app too. It’s working just fine except the Lay’s brand stuff isn’t there. Maybe those are regional?

  10. Joyce

Can you only clip to card on app or can you do it online too?

    • Laura

      Online also

  11. Joyce

Then the Lays coupons are not there for me either.

  12. Saundra

Is there a limit? Cause I shop at safeway and they have the “Just for you” I load store promotions and store coupons but not the manufacture coupons cause they will only use it once and it gets confusing. If I load a $1/1 silk non dairy almond milk (I buy all the time cause my baby can’t have dairy) and I buy 3 it only takes off one. But if I take in coupons I can use 3. Way to confusing…lol

    • maflies1

That’s what I was wondering. If I download, will I have a problem using paper coupons? Don’t want to take a chance with losing some of those.

      • cathycampo

my experience at safeway and walgreens: let’s say you loaded the digital coupon to get $.30 off 1 cookies. then you buy 3 cookies and bring paper coupons. it will take off the digital coupon for 1st cookies, and then take off 2 paper coupons.

  13. Riana

Sad! It’s a phone only app so I can’t put it on my tablet.

    • Laura

Yes you can. I have it on my iPad mini

  14. Doaa

Can’t find lays coupon. Is it already gone?

  15. Ash

I clipped the lays coupon earlier and now when I checked my clipped coupon it says expires..
Expiration date was 2/28. I think when they saw too many ppl clipped this offer the took it off 🙁

    • Andre

Same here; was checking the clipped coupons and the Lay’s and Fritos offers expired.

I just commented on H2S’s post about the eCoupons at Walgreens. Please wait while we find an agent to assist you…
You are currently at position number 1 in the queue.
Hi! My name is Shenoah P. How may I help you?
Customer: Hi Shenoah P I was wondering if you can help me with the eCoupons
Shenoah P: I will be glad to assist you today!
Customer: Are you allowed to use a manufacturer coupon along with Walgreen’s eCoupon?
    Shenoah P: Absolutely.
Shenoah P: As long as the dollar amount does not come to 0
Customer: Thank you for your help. Enjoy your night.

    • 78Brownie

I would still like to see this in their policy…unless it’s there and I didn’t see it :/

      • Meli

I’m wondering if it’ll be like rite aids load2card where the register only accepts a paper or digital coupon, not both. Like a few weeks ago I was buying something I forgot I had load2card coupon and used a paper coupon that was less than the value of the l2c. The l2c coupon got kicked out once she scanned my paper coupon. Luckily I noticed so she voided and rerang the transaction.

        • 78Brownie

IDK Meli. It seems too easy. I thought that a tell tell sign was that they are the same exact coupons found on couponsDOTcom. However, some of my grocery eCoupons are exactly the same. …I’m able to use both there.
You seem to have more experience than I do because (aside from Savings Star) I never use a load2card feature. Maybe it’s all the same? They will have to update their policy soon! I’m not 100% sure that I explained myself correctly on Walgreen’s Live Chat 🙁

        • Tiffany

I was in the test area when they did the load to card at rite aid and I hated it… I ended up opting out, but before there was that option, what would work was scanning paper Q’s before scanning the rite aid card… Before then, or would take all your up rewards off before you could hand over paper q’s

          • 78Brownie

Thanks for the feedback Tiffany. I’m tempted to test this out. Something simple. I don’t want to go with multiple coupons or a pricey purchase. Like gummy bears or something 😉 I’m too worried to try it on something with rewards. Just by what you said wouldn’t end well with me.

  17. Michelle

i wish walgreens had a price scanner.

  18. shannon

I wish there was some way that the weekly ad could reflect the availability of these digital coupons. It would make it easier to know what coupons go w/ a certain item. This would be a helpful addition at Publix too.
In regard to using paper manuf coupons and the digital ones, I’m sure it’s probably like Publix where you can’t use both. You can only use 1 manufacturer coupon. I’m sure you will be able to use a Walgreen’s coupon w/ them though.

  19. crissy

This App is not good at all. It is very confusing, and not user friendly. These coupons are not under the coupon section. Just two online deals. Then if you go to weekly as, it says, This weeks Ad, This weeks bonus buy, Home medical catalog & This Months saving book.

  20. Guest2

great. this app is not compatible with your device. 🙁

  21. Mary

I bought 3 packages of Trident gum yesterday at Walgreens.the price was 3 for $2.00. I had clipped the coupon and had it linked to my rewards card. I forgot about it and tried to use the &1.00 off 3 coupon, but it would not take it.

    • 78Brownie

So it beeped? Interesting. That type of thing should be explained. The associates aren’t completely sure either. A live chat associate told me it was OK. In the store the clerk didn’t know the feature on their app (…not sure if she knew an app existed.)

  22. Christina

Well, I learned the hard way tonight that if you “unclip” a digital it will permanently disappear. My coupon was clipped and loaded to use but it did not work at time of checkout even though item was a verified qualifying item. The manager asked me to unclip it and then reclip to see if it made a difference. I ended up losing the coupon completely and now cannot reload it. CS said it is gone for good if you unclip. Not like other apps where I can clip and unclip as desired.
