valentine's day inspired lunch for kids

Can you believe Valentine’s Day is this Friday? Here are some cute ideas for packing festive lunches this week to get your kiddos even more excited. Find some heart shaped cookie cutters (check out these here and here) and get creative with whatever is in your fridge and pantry. Heart shaped fruit, veggies, cheeses, sandwiches etc. are always easy and fun.

And, I’ve created four different lunchbox jokes for you to print and include. If your kids are like mine, they will love these silly jokes.

To make heart shaped snack sized tomatoes, cut them diagonally and secure with a heart toothpick or use a cupcake toppers (I found the ones pictured at my local Dollar Tree). To cut heart shaped carrots, first cut a triangle at the top lengthwise, and diagonal on the sides. Then chop slices.

The cucumbers are simply sliced and then I used a small heart cookie cutter. They are so easy and fun. To make little heart shaped peanut butter sandwiches, use a cookie cutter then press down with the end of a fork to seal.

Finish your lunch with a special note and one or more of the free printable jokes! The lunch box pictured has the inside top lined with chalkboard vinyl from the craft store so that I can use chalkboard markers to write special messages to my kids. I hope you can use these simple and adorable lunch box ideas for your little ones this week!

That’s actually perfect lunch for a young kid minus the drink or smoothie. Peanut butter sandwhih on whole grain bread?!? Peanut butter is protein. Just FYI giving a child a lunch-able is pretty unhealthy.

      Lunchables are the worst.

Is that just random information your providing? Or did I miss the lunch-able plug in her post?!

Since V day is on a Friday, do you think sales won’t be 50% till Sunday? Or Monday?

Totally depends on the child (age, gender, activity level). You don’t always need meat, either. The sandwiches are listed as peanut butter ones, but could easily be meat and cheese, if desired.

I knew a 10 year old girl (here from India) who would/could only eat one chicken nugget at a meal!
