I have to say finding things to fit in those eggs for boys seems harder than little girls!lol my son has a milk allergy so I usually put more toys than anything else but I have had to buy the bigget size eggs.
When my girls were young my husband and some of his friends would have an easter egg hunt for their daughters (no one had sons). I would fill the eggs with candy, coins, etc.. But in some of the eggs I would write notes. For example: “Do 5 jumping jacks”, “Rub Mr. Hopp’s head and ask him for $1” or “Play Duck, Duck, Goose with everyone”, “Sing Mary had a Little Lamb” etc.. They would always get excited for the notes! Oh, those were the days…..

I like to buy those cheap packs of party favors at the dollar tree. They seem to fill alot of eggs.
Another cheap free thing to do would be little notes from the Easter bunny. Ex. the easter bunny grants you no chores for one day or the easter bunny grants you to stay up one hour later on Easter Day.
Love it!! I’m so going to so some clever typing đ cuz my kids are old enough to recognize handwriting. The baby carrots idea made me laugh because only the dog & Guinea pigs would appreciate those!!

What is the name of those little pokey balls in the bottom left picture? Koosh balls? My 1 yr old loves these but I can’t seem to find them in stores like Walmart or Target.

I have seen them at Party City in the loose favors section.
I have ordered them from Oriental Trading. Great buy, especially for 2-6 year olds, especially boys. It is so hard to find boy favors small enough to fit inside the eggs. I also order the miniature bendable figures for the Easter eggs and they are a hit! I usually get a lot of wierd looks for not putting candy in the Easter eggs, so it is great to see this article and all the favorable comments!
At my Easter egg hunts when I was younger, my mom hid eggs that had numbers on pieces of paper inside them which corresponded with larger prizes you can see ahead of time. For example, #1 could be a bunny stuffed animal. #2 could be movie passes, etc.

Similar to what others have posted, last year I made little “coupons” with things like “choose dinner of choice”, “free movie rental”, or “toy fromdollar bin at Target”. I put that the coupons would be void based on bad behavior prior to redemption. đ
I got blank puzzles. I am going to write a clue on the puzzle leading them to where their Easter basket is hidden. When I take apart the puzzle I will put each piece in an egg and hide those eggs.

I was actually able to fit socks into the Easter eggs this year. I have 10 week old and there’s no way she can eat candy so I found a Carter’s 4 pack of socks for her at the 99 cent store and put her socks in eggs.

My 3 year old loves the mini my little ponies that come out of the blind bags. So I shilled out big time to buy a complete set of the first series produced to hide in eggs. I swear sometimes I feel like I coupon just so I can buy her my little pony stuff.
I feel your pain. I bought a case of the simpsons series to put into Easter eggs for my husband. I sold the duplicates on eBay and ended up making some money.

I still make a basket for my just-turned-16 year old. He’s my last child at home and I just can’t seem to give it up! Since he’ll be driving soon the Easter Bunny dropped in a folding squeegee, a tire gauge, a key chain and a small gift card to our local autp parts store đ
You can put in things that tell the true Easter story- google resurrection eggs. Alot of the things can just be found around the house.
you could put a cross and a small stone and maybe some scraps of white cloth to symbolize the Resurrection

We put numbers on pieces of paper and have have coordinating gifts inside to turn them in for. Nothing expensive and prizes can be bought for this all year long! The kids love the anticipation!
I was just talking to my husband about this and he suggested carrots too! We did Cheerios when my daughter was 18 months old and she loved it! The puzzle piece idea is great and together it could be a map for the location of the Easter basket….
This year I have Easter finger puppets, super balls, a bracelet, coins, and a chirping bird (but it doesnât fit in the egg!) When my son got older there was more money in the eggs and the hiding spots got really hard… đ
My kids are 22, 20 and 17 and I still make them Easter baskets now it is just a chocolate bunny and cadbury eggs. However when they where little they got a new swimsuit and kites in there baskets.
Our family puts either a quarter or a number in each egg. The quarter eggs are smaller than the numbered eggs, and the numbered eggs have a âmaximumâ that youâre allowed to keep. It doesnât matter what the numbers are, because we have certain gifts for each kid, and whatever number is in the bigger eggs, we say, âOh, you got that number! That means you get this gift!â Then we give them one of the gifts that we have specifically chosen for that child. It sounds complicated, but itâs really not. The activities that another reader posted sound great, too, though!
