SIX Easy & Creative Easter Basket Ideas
Need some unique DIY Easter basket inspiration?
Easter will be here before you know it! With that said, here are some cute ideas that are both easy to accomplish and super adorable! Don’t forget to utilize your local dollar store for supplies and fillers to keep it affordable.
1.) Minnie Mouse Easter Basket

Have a Disney fan? This Minnie Mouse Easter basket was a super easy to accomplish craft and supplies were all from Dollar Tree except for the hair bow we already had on hand. I think a Mickey Mouse version would be easy to make as well by either buying or painting a red basket and adding white circles to the front along with ears to the top.
To Get This Look:
- Trace two circles onto black craft foam about 1/2 inch apart and connect the ends. Cut and glue them to the top of the basket.
- Place a dollar store tutu around the basket and glue circles cut from white craft foam to skirt.
- Glue a pink and white polka dot bow to basket in the middle of the ears.
- Tip: My Dollar Tree had tons of Minnie Mouse character basket fillers!
2.) Baseball Hat Easter Basket
If you’ve got a baseball or softball fan, consider filling a baseball cap with fun sports related goodies. My son would love this! Maybe even adding Big League Chew and the baseball movie Sandlot would be FUN!
3.) Umbrella Easter Basket
I love the idea of using an umbrella as a Easter Basket! Such a cute and unique presentation for Spring!
4.) Trolls Easter Basket
Any Trolls fan would love this fun Trolls movie themed Easter basket! So cute! Get the directions HERE.
5.) Edible Easter Basket
Using candy boxes to create custom Edible Easter Baskets is so FUN! Get the easy directions HERE.
6.) Beach Towel Easter Basket

Instead of a basket, use a rolled up beach towel and flip flops for ears! I love the idea of using googly eyes, pipe cleaners, and a pink craft pom for a cute bunny face. Such a fun idea for a teen Easter basket! Source via Pinterest.
These are so great! Thank you for the ideas!!
I love these!
Love the hat one! My boys are teenagers and could care less about Easter baskets. So we haven’t done them in a few years. I might give this one a try tho!
So fun! I liked that one too. 😀
That one was my favorite too!!!!
Lina, you are just so creative! I love your posts! Thanks for these great ideas.
That is so nice Erika! Thank you!
I agree. Very cute creative ideas. Easy to re-create. Thanks Lina!!

Lina, your posts are always something I look forward to! ( I feel bad for your neighbors. It must be exhausting for them to try to keep up with your decorating and crafting skills.)
Haha that’s sweet! Thanks for reading Jill and my neighbor gets to taste all my leftover snacks and treats I make for hip2save so she is happy! 😀👍
I was born and raised in Europe and we have a very different Easter tradition. I’ve lived in the U.S. for over a decade now and still don’t get the idea behind the baskets. Nevertheless, the ideas are cute and I love the post, I just don’t get the ‘why’ behind the baskets. Anyone want to enlighten me?
We use the baskets to collect the eggs the Easter bunny hid. All the extra goodies he leaves inside the basket (like shown) are similar to Santa filling a stocking. Hope that helps!
I’ve given my daughter a bike helmet as a basket before. She loved it and we didn’t have a basket lying around for months with no home!
Great idea!!! And I’ve seen rain boots used also!
Love the towel idea…with goggles for eyes perfect as both my girls will start swim team shortly after Easter! TY!
I love the Easter basket made with the boxes of Peeps. How adorable! Think I’ll make it for a centerpiece for my kitchen table. Does anyone know where I can find those small yellow decorative “chicks” that are inside the basket? Super cute…
Check Dollar Tree! I think I saw them again this year 🐣
I surely will! Thanks so much!
Our Dollar General sometimes has them!
Michaels has them
Love these adorable ideas!! But am I the only one who reuses the same baskets each year? I just put them in the basement after Easter and pull them out again the next year.
I reuse too.
Same here, Susie!!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who does that! My kids have always loved having their own “special basket” – my mom did that with us, and I continued it with my children. My kids always love searching the entire house for where the Easter Bunny hides their basket on Easter morning. The contents are always simple: a quality milk chocolate solid bunny, solid chocolate eggs, and money (coins) in plastic eggs. My kids are always overjoyed.
Same here! We leave out the same baskets every year and then the Easter bunny comes to fill them.
No I usually have the same baskets most years too. Sometimes it’s fun to change it up if desired 😀
We also reuse our Easter baskets with my grandchildren. I am a Mimi who choses to gift an Easter basket for each girl and it works out well for everyone involved. Of course they receive baskets at their house too.
I reuse mine too and mine also double as their Halloween buckets too. They did all have a sports ball shaped basket but they got ruined in our last move so I got character buckets from target for 60cents because they were 90%off after a holiday and they use those for both holidays now. 4kids soon to 6 kids in June when our twins get here, I try to reuse and keep stored stuff to a minimum as we don’t have a ton of space
We reuse. It is a special basket they have always had. Just had a baby and got her personalized easter basket she will always have
We reuse every year too. We bought our kids handmade baskets from a craft fair. Hopefully they will be something that they can pass down one day.
Same here. We have baskets embroidered with their names from PBK.
A caboodle or large makeup bag would be cute for a girl . I love the hat idea!
Awesome ideas. Thanks for sharing.
I love these ideas. When my sisters and I were teenagers my mom used purses as Easter baskets.
Love!
These are awesome!!!
You never outgrow easter baskets. My mother made us one every year (along with a St. Nickolaus plate at xmas) until we left the country. LOL She sends us an easter package and a christmas package now with all the goodies. I still do Easter for everybody in my house and Christmas too.
One year my family was in Florida for Easter. My mom didn’t want us to miss Easter so she used some Dairy Queen banana split dishes to make a small Easter basket. That was about 40 years ago and I still remember it. My family will be out of town this year touring colleges with my oldest (his last Easter at home, sniff) so I am trying to figure out how to smuggle the candy and some small containers on our trip. Hope I can surprise them the way my mom surprised us those many years ago!
This year my kids are getting small duffel bags with a new soccer ball, shin guards, and water jug along with candy and goodies of course, in the past I’ve done a tackle box for my husband, purse for my daughter, a wagon for my kids together when they were little…we also try to have a family “basket” that has a board game and a movie or tickets to the zoo or baseball game, so many different things
I like to do sand buckets filled with goodies
Oh beach buckets are great as well! 👍
I received a baby gift in a beach bucket. It had an infant swimsuit, sun hat, reusable swim diaper and a few other things for baby first trip to the beach. We live about 45 minutes from the beach, so I was greatly appreciated because I had not even thought about those things.
That’s an awesome gift!
I love the Easter towel idea and have bought everything but the eyes/mouth, nose. Does anyone know how to attach them without ruining the towel or risking little ones fingers getting stabbed (straight pins)?
Wrap the towel in plastic wrap
Great ideas!!
Thanks Melanie!
I really liked this post. Just very inventive. My thoughts are whirling.
I can’t understand what the objection to the umbrella is based on your link…
Love these ideas, thanks!
We are doing rain boots this year !!
We are using rain boots !
I remember the umbrella ‘basket’ from last year. I shared it on my Facebook page and it was a huge hit. Such a cute idea
So cute Lina!!
Oh thanks Lisa!
These are adorable!
Thanks!
These are such great ideas! I absolutely love the umbrella one! Where is the best place to purchase umbrellas for kids?
One needs a new lunch bag so he’s getting that with Gatorade. Another wants an overnight bag so she’s getting one.
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Will be using some of these for the next couple of years. Keep the ideas coming!
Great! Enjoy Ann 👍
Awesome ideas…… This year we’re going to Florida for spring break so instead of doing Easter baskets all the kids need a new suitcases so I’m going to use the suitcase as their Easter basket and fill it with a towel and flip-flops Disney related items. That way the kids are getting new suitcase but I can use them towards Easter girls two birds with one stone 😂😂
That is so cute! Have a wonderful trip Heather!
Cute ideas. We also have a basket, egg hunt in the backyard and nice dinner. I think I’ve spent a bit too much on all of it- $96 total for 3 baskets, $30 (coins for egg hunt) & $35 dinner (should be enough food for 3 meals).
Thank you for some great ideas!!
You are so welcome, Kasey!
Thank you! Such creative ideas!
I just got each of my girls an umbrella for 4.99 at Aldi last week! I hadn’t thought about using them as the basket, but now I might do that! They will be getting the matching rain boots, too, and I know they are going to love it!
Oh how cute!! I love that idea.
Cute ideas 🙂
Thanks!
I still make all my kids (33, 31, & 27) and grandkids Easter baskets. When my kids became teenagers they would get laundry baskets with new towels, socks, undershirts & underwear. Now I always choose a theme and they get a basket to match. This year the adult girls are getting a spa basket with the amope pedi from dollar tree and some body wash & nail polish gift sets I picked up after Christmas. The adult boys are getting snacks, beer & a new beer glass.
Great ideas! So thoughtful. 👍
Lina D, once again you have such great ideas! I love these!!!
Aw thanks so much Lesli!
What do you use to attach the bunny whiskers , nose etc on the beach towel so it can be removed? Love this idea!
