Calling all you comic book readers! Free Comic Book Day, the first Saturday in May every year, is when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE to anyone who comes into their stores. Sounds good to me! 🙂

I find it hard to believe that they will allow 10 per person when the Stan Lee You Tube Video says each participating store will only receive 60 free comic books to pass out.
They get rid of a lot of their crap comics at these events, stuff they didn’t sell thru the year.
I didn’t go last year, but years before our store in Provo was sooooooo incredibly slow passing them out. There was a huge line before they opened and I font think it moved but about 10 feet in the 45 min I waited with a baby and 3 kids. So we left.
I was able to tell my brother about this and going to take my five year old to get a free one too. Never knew about this before. Thanks!
tip: get there early. last year when I went at my store they had a rack of a lot of free comics and all the good ones were gone because I got there late.
Check your libraries too. I am a librarian, and we will be giving out comics tomorrow.

I went last year in Central California. We arrived late in the day and were still given 4 of the 10 free available when the store opened. You were able to get one copy of each title per person, children included. I will be heading to Heroes Comics again tomorrow! The owner is an amazing person!
If you’re in southern New Hampshire, you can meet the 3 guys who started Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Traffic was unbelievable in downtown!!
Library in Hanover County Virginia has free comics. (Pamunkey Regional Library) They had a great selection. Really cool idea! Thanks for telling us about this.
I went with my daughter the my local comic bookstore, they had a great selection of free ones, the owner was incredibly nice and gave us 3 for free! my daughter was thrilled! We did not even have to wait even though there were many more people there, it was handled great 🙂
I went to my local comic book store and got 8 free comics.. plus for buying one comic I got a free pass to see the new spiderman movie..pretty cool! Thanks for posting this!!
