I got the Captain America w/muscles, came to $12. Jumped on it b/c last year I waited too long and all the good costumes were gone!

    • Tina

Yeah, you gotta shop early. I’ve learned that too. I plan on taking my son when he gets out of school today.

    • Rose

Thank you for posting that my son wants to be captain America for Halloween

  2. tatiana

Did anyone see any monster high costumes??

    • Stacie

I didn’t see any. My target had a very limited selection. I found a cute witch costume!

    • SF

My target had monster high costumes. They had the wolf one and Frankie stein. My daughter got the Frankie stein on too.

  3. Katie

Will it work on treat bags?

  4. Ashley

What if I bought a costume 1 week ago… Does anyone think I could go to guest services and get the $8 back? I know it works for coupons and sales, but not sure about Cartwheel.

    • Megan

I’d think you could “return” it and rering it, worst case scenario. 🙂

    • Jill

Once I did that and the lady at the front said it had to be within 10 days of the purchase and she honored it because I told her well I’ll just return the item and rebuy it. But maybe if that doesn’t work you could return and buy the costume again. I know that’s more work. But just a thought. Hope it works out for you.

  5. Jackie

What if we bought the costume a week ago. Will they honor the 40% off if I take it back?

    • vanessa

just buy the same costume with the coupon and return it the next day with your full price receipt!

  6. eyez1998

If anyone wants a 25% off online coupon for bath and body with free shipping on orders $25+ email me eyez1998@comcast.net expires Sept 28

    • eyez1998

      Coupon has been taken

  7. Angela

Earlier today when i added this coupon there was another coupon that was 30% off the accessories but when i went to check out the coupon wasn’t there. I told the cashier that and she was going to manually adjust things for me but didn’t end up needing to. I just bought a ninja turtles costume, a Anna costume, hulk hands, and a brave bow and arrow and the 40% came off the whole purchase. I know the offer says limit two items and that it excludes accessories but clearly it’s all Lies lol

    • Jill

      That’s great!

    • Shelly

Thanks! Worked on my princess slippers! But not candy pale. I still call it a win!

  8. Jill

I was able to get two costumes Elsa and Anna- Both 40% off. Thank you! Saved us $28!

  9. Nicole

It depresses me that kids don’t seem to make up costumes anymore. Where’s the creativity? Hoping my son will choose something original, but even if he doesn’t we’ll shop the thrift stores.

    • Casey

Plenty of children make up their own. My then 3 year old wanted to be a “pumpkin princess” last year and we had fun with that. I just think they get to an age where they want to be Disney, or Captain America or what have you.

    • angelahoang12

my 7 year old gave me the task of making a bat/dragon costume. He drew the design up… Hoping I can do it cause I am not creative at all

    • Momof3

My two cents just because this is about the fifth time this week I’ve seen this comment posted online. There’s a thin line between being frugal and being cheap. I think there are way too many parents out there making excuses about costumes, school supplies, etc yet they spend $8 plus on cigs and $5 plus on cocktails… need I mention handbags, etc. Trust me I’ve had my share of those expenses in the past. Isn’t your child’s smile and happiness worth it sometimes?

      • C

Couldn’t agree more! Starbucks drinkers always get me. I’ve seen too many times where a child is asking for a small toy and the parent says no it’s too expensive. Oh, but what about that 5 Starbucks coffee you have?! Sorry to rant buy it kills me!

        • Casey

My goodness there’s a lot of judging in here starting with Nicole’s original comment. And people wonder why moms are so insecure and competitive. Yikes!

      • Jessica

I heard Nicole say she wishes kids would be more creative, she hopes he will choose something original…if not she will go to a thrift store. A thrift store is where you can get like new children’s Halloween costumes because they only wear them for one year. Another great place is online garage sales. I DID NOT hear her say that buying her child a costume would cut into her cig, booze and starbucks budget. I sometimes no to “cheap” toys and yes to a latte because my children ask for something every time we go to the store and the word Yes comes out of my mouth far more often than the No.

    • Cindi

You know, I was right there with you until
I had three boys, and realized that halloween is a day for them to be anything on earth they dream of. Some times they pick something on the more creative/obscure side – but if what My son wants to be is batman because it will make him feel like a million bucks, then I say hell yeah! Creative costumes are still great!

    • MommySpendsLess

Growing up I always had homemade costumes, usually using whatever we already had, a bit of face paint and maybe a few purchased accessories. One year I was an old lady (my mom’s robe, slippers, green face paint and I think hair curlers), another year I was a cowgirl in jeans, a flannel shirt and boots and a cowboy hat I borrowed from my mom…another time I was medusa in a white robe (formerly a sheet?), with black hair spray (that later COATED the walls of the shower in black and took three shampoos to get out) and fishing lures for ‘snakes’. They were great costumes and I have fond Halloween memories but they were expressions of my frugal, SAHM/one-income-family parents’ creativity, not mine. And I’m guessing it was a case of necessity (and love) breeding invention more than a burning desire to be costume designers.

My daughter has always had store-bought costumes and probably always will, although we try to put a twist on them or make them a little special with make-up, hair styles and accessories. It’s one night, often a school-night, and her focus is on filling her bucket with candy. There are plenty of other activities and opportunities for us to be creative together (this past weekend she decorated fairy wings, made a paper banner for her doorway and started learning to sew…she’s 5yo). I’m sure she’ll spend plenty of time after Halloween dressed in her store-bought, licensed-character Elsa dress singing, dancing and putting on performances. I’ve seen my daughter and her best friend spend literally hours dressed as (store-bought) mermaids and fairies and princesses running around completely immersed in an imaginary world of their creation, laughing and giggling together.

I respect your choice but I wouldn’t call store-bought costumes depressing or sad at all based on my experiences.

  10. Nikki

My target had monster high costumes in nj

  11. Chaneld83

I was just there and got the Wolverine costume for my older son. It was $20. Also got my youngest a shark costume that was $25. So $27 isn’t bad for two costumes in my book. I scanned the Wolverine claws that matched my sons costume, and they were included in the 40% too.

  12. Rachel

Thx!! Got Anna and Elsa costumes for
My girls for Christmas presents for $12 each!!

    • Casey

Great idea! I might have to snag one for a Christmas gift, since we already chose a costume 🙂

  13. Nikki

My target had a few monster high costumes

  14. Brittany

Anyone know if they have the Olaf snowman costume from Frozen?

    • Tina

I didn’t see it at the store, but I know it is on Target’s site.

    • Sarah

My store had them in toddler sizes

  15. Sarah

Target posted this and confirmed the cartwheel does expire tomorrow:

    Cartwheel by Target
Hi all – Sorry for the confusion. The expiration date is correct – tomorrow, September 27th. There’s a pesky bug causing the “expires today!” message to show at the moment. Have no fear, you can still redeem the deal in stores tomorrow, too!

My local Target had very few Halloween costumes out. : (

  17. Kelly A.

Just wanted to warn you guys about purchasing the disney princess “costumes” and using the cartwheel. Last year, I tried to buy one using a paper % off costumes coupon, and the lady said it doesn’t work on those because they are considered “dress up” like the kind in the toy aisle. I was too tired to argue. Hopefully, though, they have corrected it to work this year.

    • C.R.

Hi there! I don’t think they fixed it because I just purchased the Elsa musical costume (086-07-0551) and the 40 percent off did not come off the price. Returning it tomorrow. 🙁

      • Jennifer C

The ones in the toy department are not considered Halloween Costumes. They are every day dress up dresses. The cartwheel also states that the costumes are to be from the Halloween department. So the dress up dresses in the toy section would be excluded. I had hope last year the ones in the toy section were included but they werent. So I had to settle for a cheaper made costume from the Halloween Dept.

    • Jsturner1

I bought two different elsa costumes from the Halloween dept and they both took 40% off.

  18. Sarah

Thank you so much for posting this!! My son picked out a superman costume on the kohls website earlier today. They have the exact same costume at Target, same model and everything, the only thing is kohls had it on ‘sale’ for $50 and even with the 30% off and kohls cash I have, I would pay the original price Target is asking. So getting it at Target with the cartwheel app is a definite bargain!!

  19. Shelly C

Did anyone see a Ninjago and Jake (from Jake & the Neverland Pirates)?

    • cindy

I saw the jake costume in Houston

    • cbeths

You can use the website to “check store availability.” Its not always accurate, but it may give you some idea if its worth trying.

  20. alexis mondragon

I bought my 2yr old tinkerbell for $18 after cartwheel.hhhuuummm, still don’t know if I paid too much? I wanted to pay $12. Lol.??

    • Erin

That would be too high for me for a purchased costume, both because of the child’s age and because of the costume (not much to Tinkerbell). Keep it and see if you can do better between now and Halloween. Or try making one if you are feeling crafty. I’m willing to spend a lot more making a costume than a mass-produced one. Tinkerbell probably wouldn’t be hard.

    • suzyq

A while back there was free shipping on the Disney store website and you could get Tinkerbell for $13 so I would say look around (maybe Costco??) for a better deal

  21. Kelly

Is this two per guest per day? I have four kids and would like to use it to buy two today and two tomorrow. Thanks!

    • Vergin

I don’t think it limited to 2 , because of the comments above. U can put everything in 1 transaction and use the coupon.in case if it doesn’t workout, u can take it off

    • mel

You can actually scan your CW barcode up to 6 times a day, so you can do 2 separate transactions of 2 costumes each instead of travelling back and forth tomorrow!

    • Colleen

when printed off mine said you could get 4

  22. Zenovia

I got my a son batman costume for $12, awesome deal

  23. jen c

Just used the cartwheel to get Captain America with muscles for $12 and the Catalina printed $5 off $20 costumes. Customer service adjusted and gave me the $5 back. $7 costume, woot!

  24. Andrea

The coupon has two expiration dates. I really hope it expires tomorrow and not today.

  25. Veronica

The Cartwheel limit is 4, and expires on 9/27/14. Limit of 1 Cartwheel barcode per transaction and 6 Cartwheel bradcode transactions per day. Hope this helps!

  26. Jenny

I don’t have kids, but I’m gonna try to see if I can convert the infant cupcake costume into a pillow 😀

  27. Emily

Any chance this is one of the cartwheel offers that can be used online too?

    • JA

Sorry, no. Terms say valid in store only.

  28. Jessica

If there is anyone who has a Domino’s coupon/gift card that they will not be using I would really appreciate it. My email is jessicahribal@hotmail.com
    Thank you in advance.

  29. rosana

Used the cartwheel on a witch custome $15 and a straw broom $3 total paid less than $11 for both items the cw worked on the broom.

  30. Maria

Does anyone know if the costumesin the infants section count?

  31. Tara

I got the Anna costume which was reg $30 for $18. I wish it was only $20 reg price but I figured I should grab it now since my 2yr old changes her mind every day.

  32. Diana

Just bought a Spider-Man costume for $6, and Anna costume for $12. My daughter really wanted Elsa, so customer service said when and if it comes in, I can swap them! Yay! Spider-man accessories also were 40% off too!

  33. MommySpendsLess

I got my daughter the deluxe Elsa costume for $21. It’s not quite as detailed and sparkly as the Disney Store one but it’s pretty nice (and $29 cheaper!), especially considering my daughter grows fast and is always changing her mind about her favorite characters. Now that I’ve confirmed her costume size, I’m thinking about going back tomorrow and getting Ariel (or Jasmine if they have her) to put away for a christmas.

  34. april

Used it tonight and bought a witch costume (reg price 30) and a dragon warrior ninja costume (reg price 25) as well as nunchucks ($2) and it worked on all 3 things!! Even on an accessory!

  35. Rene

Yep worked on my 3 things, even an accessory. Going back tomorrow for my older sons costume. Yeah.

  36. Tina

There are two Targets near me and both hardly have any costumes. I don’t know if they just didn’t put out very many or they just sold out quickly.

  37. Crapson

You all are lucky! Our Target was lacking in the costume department. My one year old wants to be a dragon. There were very little toddler costumes. Guess we will have to pay full price at Walmart. There is a cute one there he likes.

  38. Jennifer

A very nice woman checking out got a $5 off $20 costume and accessories but turned around and gave it to me! So I got the $20 Elsa dress for $7.12 (after coupon, 40% off cartwheel and target card discount). Then got another $5 coupon at checkout and went back and got Anna’s $20 costume as well for $7.12! Going to have two happy girls playing dress-up!

  39. Ashley

I always get costumes and let my son wear them over and over at home!!!! My daughter just turned 2 and she loves to wear dresses so I can see her wearing the princess costumes more than one time. Got to get my money’s worth!!!

  40. Tharen

Got the last Anna in my daughters size! Thank you!

  41. Ashley F

Thanks SO much Collin got my niece the Elsa costume! Last one in her size! Although I will say the costume section at my store was not fully stocked. I’m gonna be Auntie of the century for this one! 😉 Can’t believe what a bargain I got it for!!!
