Can anyone tell me if the actual dolls are ever on sale? I’d like to get the twins for my daughters, but the price is pretty steep. TIA!

    • Tyanna

No, the dolls themselves don’t go on sale. Just the clothes and accessories.

    • Nancy

They have been on sale you just have to keep looking for Jill’s Deals to get them. They sale out SUPER quick though. The twins as all the dolls are well worth the price.

    • annadm

yes they do. Collin posts it sometimes. I saw them for the jills deals and steals.

Are there any other smiliar dolls that are cheapers. I see that some of the dresses are $44?? really???? for a doll?

    • annadm

target has my generation if your child doesnt care. Some girls want the “aunthentic” One year my uncles pitched in to buy me a doll and some clothes

    • annadm

i just saw on another post on saturday the my gen doll is the 50% cartwheel offer!

      • megan

where did you find that at?

      • Amy

I haven’t seen the cartwheel deal but target brand dolls are on sale for $22 this week

Two years ago I got the Madame Akexander dolls on Black Friday at Kohls. They were $17 and still nice quality. Kohls also sells the matching kid and doll clothes for $20-25 set over Black Friday

I grew up with an American Girl doll. I loved it. So when my daughter was ready I went all out and bought her a doll and a ton of stuff. It is a lot of money and now when I look back I wish I saved the money and bought either the My Generation from Target or the Journey Girls from Toys R Us. Honestly there is no difference. If you teach your child to take care of things the cheaper dolls will last just as long. Also keep your eyes out for used ones. Sometimes you can score big on Craigslist or Facebook sites!

My girls love the mini American girls. They have several. On amazon I only paid about $15-$20 each. They are super cute!

I said I would never spend that much money on a doll but after my daughter had asked for one for several years we decided to buy her the doll. It is much better quality than the my generation dolls or other similar dolls we have. The main difference I notice is the hair does not tangle and end up in a mess like other dolls. I have seen occasional sales on the dolls but they sell out quickly! As for the clothes, etc. I would save my money and get those from Target.

The doll it self is definitely worth the price that’s why their can heirloom dolls there meant to last and pass down. And if they ever get messed up you can send them to the doll hospital and get whatever fixed. My daughter has had several knockoffs and then neon difference is the hair. The fake ones hair is a mess and sometimes can’t be fixed. The AG you just spritz with water abs it looks brand new!! But the clothes and accessories I would defiantly by at target or Walmart has slot of new stuff out

My daughter had the Target doll and just received her first AG doll for her birthday this weekend. I can tell a big difference in quality and detail….and as on person commented…the hair is a huge difference. We do buy non-AG clothes which have seemed to work pretty well but the Target ones seem a little too big and the Toys R Us ones seem a little too tight.

I randomly found this American Girl doll holiday dress on sale for $18 (50% off!) last week and ordered for my little girl. It doesn’t come up in a search on the website…maybe that’s why it’s left??? Anyway, check it out. https://store.americangirl.com/agshop/html/item/id/229263/ctc/XSYMAL

Zulily has also had the 18″ Madame Alexander dolls for a good price. Also, they often have 18″ doll outfits and matching doll/girl outfits that are much less expensive that AG.

  10. Donna

Costco often has 18″ Madame Alexander for the holidays. It’s a nice bundle.

    • Donna

Just checked Costco website. $24.99 + $7.99 shipping for Madame Alexander doll with rain coat and umbrella.
