What’s the difference between this and the fire stick?

    • Alison Copley

The stick has 1 GB vs 2GB of memory with the box. The box also comes with the voice recongition

      • Ashley

What do you need the memory for? Sorry, I’m the most technologically challenged 28 year old ever…these things are over my head!

My husband found an hdmi cable on lightning deal also! What a great deal…better than the $74 Black Friday price 🙂

Thinking of getting this deal any Hipsters have it, dislikes/likes? Thanks 🙂

I actually have dish right now~so what is the monthly fee for this? Also, just curious if people are happy with this?

    • Jamie

You would want to have Amazon Prime which is $99 a year. The box holds apps that you can subscribe to like Netflix, Hulu, ESPN, Showtime so those would each have a monthly subscription charge if you choose to use them.

I have had this since this summer and I love it 🙂 we use it to watch netflix and it has other apps you can download too. Even games! 🙂 I like the pbs app since they have a lot of educational shoes to pick from. If you have a prime membership you can stream all those movies for free too. We have this and have not had any problems 🙂

We just canceled our comcast tv and we have netflix account. We are thinking of doing the amazon prime but wondering what you guys think about it? Is it any different then netflix? Am I able to access it through my laptop incase I’m traveling? If I’m in my room and someone is using it in the living room am I able to still connect? Tia

    • susan

Amazon prime and netflix are the same to me. You can access it through your laptop. I am not sure about your last question. If you could watch it simutaneously in different rooms then you would probably get a lag.

      • alma

        Thanks Susan

    • Andrea

There are shows available on Amazon that are not available on Netflix. We have both and use them each equally.

  7. Kat

Is this like the Chromecast? Do you pay a monthly fee to Amazon for this?

    • karen

no monthly fee. it hooks up to your subscription services like hulu or Netflix. it will also hook to amazon if you have a prime membership and get their tv.

  8. jenna

I love mine. And it’s so easy enough to use that my 4 year old can operate it by himself. Worth the money.

  9. Jennifer

I have this, prime membership, and netflix. That’s it, no cable or satellite, and I do not miss it. Plus I love having access to lots of PBS shows for kids. Three year old daughter loves Daniel Tiger and Peg + Cat. If they miss the Disney channel, with the $$ saved you can buy them DVDS. Best part is she only wants toys that interest her, not what kids commercials try to interest her in.

Is this basically the same as roku? I have a roku upstairs and am wanting to cancel my direct tv and get something for downstairs. How is it better than roku cause it is more money? Any help is appreciated!!

  11. Lauren

This is probably a dumb question but do you need to have wifi to use this?

  12. Kelly

How is this different from the fire stick?
