How Coupons Saved My Life
I am sharing a video with you today… a very personal video. A video I filmed back in 2012. A video I wasn’t ready to release.
Now I am ready. Ready to share my story. My story about addiction, depression, and how those little things called coupons have done so much more than save me money.
*Please keep in mind that this video may not be suitable for children.

If you are currently suffering from drug addictions, food addictions and/or depression, I strongly encourage you to reach out to a friend or family member, doctor, counselor or pastor and seek help.
You go girl! Thanks for sharing. I love your site. If you were sitting with me now I would ask you if you go to a church and know Jesus. If you do not please look into that. I hope you do not mind my suggestion. I mean it in the most loving way.
Hold on, let me wipe my eyes so I can see what I am typing! I always say to other people how much I like your site, mostly because I like you. I love how you are silly and what you value. You always seem so real to me. Thank you for being you, a great person!
Collin,
Wow! What a story! I would have never expected that. I have been watching your videos and following your tips since 2009. I would have never imagined that you had had a learning disability, because you are so intelligent and clever combining and explaining all the coupon and website deals. You are an amazing person, and I applaud you for all that you do. Thanks for all your help through all these years, you have helped me save so much.
Dearest Collin,
I looked through all the comments and was relieved to find that not a single person said anything cruel or even derogatory about your. All along I’ve noticed that is uniquely special about Hip2Save. When I e-mailed you and, as a stranger, hesitantly mentioned my admiration for your integrity, I had no idea to what extent you deserve it until now. I am glad that I had decided to express that to you. Through your willingness to expose your vulnerability you have revealed that despite your likableness and success, you can benefit from approval and appreciation just as much as the rest of us.
Fondly,
R.
Thank you for sharing your story! You overcame and now look where you are! I’ve followed Hip2save since the begin. I have relied on you for helping me save money. You have taught me alot! Thanks for being there when I needed you. Many more blessings!
Thank you Hip2save!!
Thank you so much for sharing your story. You have changed my life with your website. I am so thankful that you take the time to help us.
Coupons also saved me from a postpartum depression.I was all lonely staying at home with a baby: no car, no friends. They also helped me to lose weight.I would just grab my stroller and go couponing to the nearest drugstore which was 45 minutes away up the hill.Nice workout and free formula and diapers as a reward.
Thank you for sharing your story! made me cry. Coupons also saved me from depression too! thank you for Hip@save helped me learn how to save money. My children was happy alot of foods from coupon. My deaf husband think I am crazy with coupons lol now he understand how to save money lol. I love you Collin!
Colin,
Thank you so much for sharing your story and thank you for all of the work you do bringing us such great deals consistently every week!!! Big HUGS to you and so happy you are at such a great place in your life!
This video seriously made me cry! I got pregnant with my daughter when i was 19 years old. I was scared to death and didn’t know what to do. My boyfriend, who is now my husband, kept telling me thay we would give her up for adoption. I was so afraid to tell anyone about my pregnancy that i prayed for a miscarriage. I didn’t have a decent job and i had bills , lots and lots of bills. I didnt have time or the money for a baby! After telling my sister and opening up, i realized that i hadva huge support system. I got all of her things for FREE! Thats how big of a support system i had. Crib, crib sheets, clothes size NB to 4T, shoes up to size 6, i never bought a box of diapers until she was 4 months old. I had everything for her thanks to my amazing friends and family! I am now 22 years old and i have a beautiful, sweet, smart baby girl named Aaliyah Trinity and I wouldnt trade her for anything in the world.
I check my hip2save app all the time! I. Love when you do the coupon videos! You are amazing and help so many of us save money! Thank you for sharing your life with all of us! You are such an inspiration to so many! God Bless you!
Thank you for sharing your story. I pray you continue to work your coupon magic and pay it forward as I think this is part of your journey. You are brave. I check your site several times a day. When people ask me how I heard about a certain deal, I always tell them, “My friend, Collin, told me about it.” Like many here, I feel like I know you, your family and your life. Because of you, I have been able to pay it forward and I’m sure others have as well. Thank you for all you do to make our country a better place.
Isn’t that just the human condition… we all think we are the “only one” who is wrong and messed up… I certainly thought that for years! I wouldn’t trade thise wisdom we get over the years for anything, (although it would have been nice to enjoy the wisdom at the same time as the body of my 20’s LOL!) Love ya Colin
truly an amazing story of your journey ! So happy for you and your family and want to say Thank you for everything you do for us (your readers) and others! God bless you !!
Thank you, Collin, for being so open and sharing.
Ive been wanting to watch this video since it came out and finally found time tonight. Thank you for sharing your story and being so honest and transparent. I wish more people had the courage to own their truth and use it to grow and become better people! It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out in the world knowing not everyone is going to be supportive. I sure know I don’t have thick enough skin to! Anyways, I knew some of your story by being in the same High School and through friends of friends, but it is amazing to see your transformation from your perspective. Hope you continue to have amazing success in your personal life and with the website!
Thank you for sharing. It is so brave of you to share such a personal part of your life. I really enjoy your blog and your personality that comes through in your writing and videos. I grew up in an abusive home and have had my own share of struggles and now I finally feel that I am becoming the person I was meant to be so I can definitely relate to your journey and it’s nice to know we’re not alone.
We LOVE you very much!! Thanks so much for sharing your life with us. You have a wonderful family and friends that care about you. The only person that we have control over is ourselves. We are so blessed to have you in our lives. You have helped me and my family so much. You helped us learn how to use coupons or I don’t know how we would of made it. It’s hard on 1 income. By you saving your life you have saved a lot of our lives. Thanks Collin! You are a blessing to each one of us!
OMGeeez! Collin you are very courageous for sharing this very personal video! God bless you! LOVE your Awesome web site. I especially enjoy your videos! Thank you for helping me SAVE, SAVE, SAVE! Keep up the wonderful job!
Thank you for your utter and raw honesty. you don’t know how many times I just cried watching this video because I can so relate to so many of the same issues.and thank you for the inspiration Colin, I think you’re great!
I’ve been following you for years. You always make me smile. Back when I started, I was a stay at home mom with no money and a propensity towards depression (which always lingers a little). Thanks for empowering me to at least feel good about being able to find nice things with a limited budget. Your story makes me want to hug you. I treasure honesty in people; thanks for putting yourself out there and blowing the myth of perfection. May God bless you always.
I love this video! I have been reading your site since 2010 and you dont even know how much your site has helped me in my life! I think you are awesome!!! Thanks for sharing! <3
Never make me cry again, Collin, smile from now on.
I have no one to reach out to.
Are you on Facebook? If so you can reach out to me
Dear Collin: You just saved a life. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for having the courage to share your story! You are always so positive, high energy, and funny, but I love that you took the time to share that your life has also had hard struggles. It is so obvious that you have found what you were always meant for. You have been a huge blessing to our family over the years that I have followed your blog. May you continue to be blessed as you bless all your readers with your great deal-finding skills!
Wow! I have been taking care of my terminally ill father and have been struggling lately. Just today as we were sitting in yet another Dr.’s office I had the thought of how great your life must be. Thank you for sharing your real life and struggles. Even though I wouldn’t wish my or your experience on anyone, I do appreciate you sharing and giving a voice to those who may not have one. Pain, though it may have a different face for each of us, is experienced by all. Be proud of yourself, for you have set a new trajectory for your family. Your children have a wonderful example of what strength and character look like. Thank you again for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your story. Out of the ashes comes beauty and you are beautiful, smart and funny. a real woman. God is and has used used for his glory. Look how many people you have reached. You are loved and real.
I think the admin of this web site is in fact working
hard for his site, because here every data is quality based material.
I’ve been a hip2save follower since 2011. In 2011, I quit my job as a mental health counselor. I had quit in order to take care of my son that was diagnosed with Autism. My life had fallen apart after I quit working. I lost myself and who I was. Because I had stopped working, we were broke. I started couponing and your site was one that helped me learn how to save money, but it gave me something more than that. It gave me a purpose. A purpose of helping my family out and giving me a reason to learn something new in order to continue going in my life. I thank you for that. Since 2011, I have shared with many of my friends my love for saving money and using coupons and most importantly, I have shared this site with them. Although my life is really different now and God has blessed us in many ways, I still check hip2save everyday as I find comfort in seeing great deals, or watching your Target videos or maybe just seeing a great recipe that has been posted. Thank you for sharing with your readers the story about you and thank you for continuing to help others. 🙂

Good for you Collin! Always remember, it’s not so much about what you have done as it is about what you have learned as well as how you proceed forward. Good for you!

Agreed!
Wow, Collin! Thank you so much for sharing. I’ve been flowing you since 2009 when you were still in your blogspot days. I love your site, your personality, and all that you do for your readers. Thank you for speaking up-I know there are many others out there whispering “Yes, me too.” Thank you for being their voice.
Hello Collin I just watched your video and I want to say i am so proud of you! It takes a lot to over come everything you did. You are a a wonderful women and have a family to be very proud of. I love to hear you talk about coupons the way you do. I am a stay home mom myself. When I had mt daughter 10 years ago everyone kept telling us that we could not make it on one income. We did not want to put are kids in daycare which is insane how much they charge. So we said hey we will give it a try. I quilt working my husband works full time and we made it work. I stated using coupons to help on the grocery bill and fell in love with it lol. In 2008 we had are son and still was a stay home mom. People don’t realize how much they can help not only with food but so much other, clothes, really anything. So I am proud to say even after 10 years I am still a stay home mom making it work!!. I love your site I am on it every day, Keep up the great work you do 🙂
Oh, Collin. I had no idea. As someone who grew up with a Mom who had an eating disorder (including repeated hospitalizations), I can empathize with the struggles that you and your family have gone through… to come out on the other side and build yourself, your confidence, and your business up is no small task. You should be SO proud of yourself.
I feel honored to have been following your blog, its growth, and your life since almost day 1 back when you started 🙂 I’ve always felt a deep connection with you. Thank you, thank you for sharing your story. You are amazing!! <3 <3
I am so happy I stumbled upon this video somehow. My daughter has epilepsy and her life seems so similar to yours. She doesn’t quite fit in anywhere. She has a learning disorder. Because she does not have gran mals, people fail to see just how damaging it is to go through her struggles. We fight hard to make sure everyone is educated about her and you. You website became an inspiration to us. Last year, you posted about pledgeling.com. We looked into it and found the Anita Kauffman foundation. She and I became ambassadors for them. My 6 year old daughter designed a shirt for purple day and we sold them and raised almost $300. She is doing it again this year. I just wanted to let you know how you have effected our lives through so much more than couponing. I sobbed when I heard your story because I can only hope that my daughter can grow up and be such a wonderful person like you. Thank you for all that you do!
You are awesome and I appreciate all that you do! Respect!
I realize I’m late stumbling across this video but boy am I glad I did. Collin, I just adore you. Thank you so much for such a candid peek into the unfiltered, unedited truth of this thing we call life. Your courage is outstanding. I am beyond grateful you found your calling in coupons and decided to share it with all of us. Because of you I know I can stretch my dollar and get the best deals out there. You have a way of making your readers feel right at home and your humble spirit is so refreshing. Thank you again for all you do, you’re the best!
You are definitely on the right track. No pun intended “I knew I could, I knew I could. Your sharing will mean a lot too so many never mind your bargain hunting outreach. You are a shining star. Keep shining!
You are my favorite! I love your site and just saw this video. Thank you so much for being normal like the rest of us. You always make me smile and laugh. I am a grandma (64), but my grandkids tell me I’m not a normal one. I like that. We all have a devil to deal with, and you have done so well with yours (smack his butt down again girl!)
I love it when your Mom comes to visit and she is in your great videos. Thanks for all you do for us!…..the coupons and deals are just a bonus.
That was so amazing to watch! Sharing something so person about yourself with your readers must have been tough. I think sometimes we think those that suffer from depression or any mental illnesses will “look” different, we fail to realize it could be our sister, best friend or wife. I am so glad you overcame your obstacles and have such great things for yourself and your family!
I love your blog and your heart. Thanks so much for sharing! Thanks for all the tips too!
Collin, You are so inspiring!! I loved watching your video.
As Long as I have been following I just now saw this Video. 1st off your amazing person and I am so very happy to had found you . I still have a lot to learn about coupons, and I feel dumb when it comes to them. But I am so happy I watch this. I have been fighting depression for a very long time. Sometimes I do not even want to do life any more. But like you when I get a chance to help others it makes me feel good. I get used a lot by my own family and it weighs on me and i have never had any one care enough to help me. But the joy I get and the way I feel about myself weigh more. (((HUGS)))))))) Your doing a wonderful job and so glad you found coupons to build your life and self meaning for you and your family. thank you for showing us and getting up each day to help us save as well. I really love to be like you.

Thank you for being so open and real. All of us struggle with something, but social media can definitely leave us feeling like we are the only ones with those struggles. You have done an amazing thing here. Your website helps thousands of people, but your story may help more. Thank you for your hard work. God loves you and is clearly working in your life.
Collin,
