Me too! Thanks Collin π
I would love to know how to start homeschooling if anyone could point me in the right direction. I have a sophomore & senior in Illinois but will be relocating soon to Florida r/t husbands job
Florida has free virtual school, it’s all accredited. You can do that the traditional method, or do their “homeschool” method. Curriculum being pretty much the same, the major differences being how much you check in with teachers, etc. You can read about it at flvs.net. If you don’t want to do a public school option, you do have to send a letter of intent to school board. Then once a year, do one of their approved tests. It’s not bad really, you can even do some over the phone. I have young ones, so I’m not really sure what curriculum to suggest. But I do the secular route & really like Bookshark. And if you want Christian based, I know a lot of people like Son of Light, I think it’s called. I also suggest searching homeschool groups for your area & joining one. Hope that helps a bit!
We use sonlight it’s a Christian based curriculum it’s really good especially if your kids like to read. If you would like more info on them let me know and I can send you a referral link. They break everything down nicely so I know what to teach everyday for each subject in a binder.
Try contacting hslda.org as they’ll tell you what your state requires and if you join their membership its not real spendy. Also your library should have books about homeschooling and they’ll tell you theres many forms of homeschooling. Basicly though you teach what subjects your state requires, give proofs and/or statements your state requires. Such as in MN they use to require mom/dad type up a report card until laws changed a few years ago and now we just send in a statement to our superintendent that we still intend to homeschool, our childrens names, etc I hope this helps!
Go on Facebook and look for a homeschool group for the general area you are moving to!! Also, go to http://www.hslda.com and there is tons of info on there. You should definitely sign up to be a member at only $10/mo. You don’t have to buy definitely recommended.
My daughter is starting connections academy this year. They are in at least 16 different states. Be sure to check what enrollment is. Some states have deadlines.

Just to let you know, you can read the digital version of their magazine online, if you don’t want to purchase!
This is great! Each file looks very detailed and interesting! Great find for $0!!
