I just price matched the leap pad 3 at the 59.99 price at target last week. I’m wondering if I should return it and get it for this 10 dollars cheaper. I saved my receipt just in case it was going to go cheaper.
Can you play movies on this? I’m thinking of getting this or the kids kindle fire tablet for my 2 1/2 year old grandson.
I personally would get the Kindle. We bought this for my son last year at Christmas had it for about two months and the screen went blank. And customer service has been a bear to deal with.
No you can’t play movies. Only apps/shows you buy from leappad which are limited.
And expensive.
All the leappads (except the Epic) are not androids/made my apple. So only leapfrog apps will work on them. Leapfrog has many educational videos! My 3 year old loves hers! Plus, I feel safe knowing she can’t get into anything on the Internet. So for a younger age, I would suggest the leappads!
I had the leappad 2 (screen finally got broken after 7 years & 2 kids), and I was looking to replace it but after looking at the fire (thanks for mentioning it) I think I’ll go that route. Leappad was great when my daughter was young but I feel she’s outgrown a lot of their content now. So for younger ones I think it’s a great toy. But for older kids (ages 7+) a fire would prob be the better option since there are more options. My daughter also has an iPad at school (we don’t at home) so she’s aware of all the apps out there, etc. I’m already having to catch up!
I bought 2 of these on amazon the other day for $59.99. I just live-chatted with a rep and they are crediting me $20! So easy, I’m thrilled. Thank you, Collin!
So glad you could score the savings Suzie!
Same here as I purchased it the other day as well. I JUST hung up with Desiree at Amazon and she cheerfully gave me the option of an Amazon credit or refund my credit card!! 🙂
Anyone know of any deals on LeapFrog Epic? Cheapest I’m finding is at Target for $111.
They had a deal at Kmart last week. It was on sale for $99 but you got back $25 in points! Total after points $75!!!! This was a steal, considering they are normally $139
Thanks for the info! It’s back up to $114 at Kmart. 🙁 I’m thinking they will go down again before Christmas. We’ll see. . .
I’ve been looking at some of these for a while. The reviews are terrible for Leapfrog, especially their customer service. I also looked into a VTech Innotab, and it looks like VTech recently had a security breach, so you can’t even get into their online database of apps. Thanks for the suggestions here, I’ll be looking into the Amazon Fire for kids. 🙂
Thanks so much for your honest review. I do appreciate it.
We love these! We’ve gone through 4 but two of them because they were the original ones and some of the newer apps didn’t work on leap pad 1. I just got a 3 for my God Daughter and one for a backup ( we have an 8 yr old who still enjoys the games even though he know the answers but a 2 yr old showing interest in brothers’ games). Thanks for the tip abt calling customer service and getting some money back I will have to try that as well.
Thanks for sharing Mary! Glad to hear you like them!
I finally was able to call Amazon and they did price match 2 of these that I previously purchased from them (one Dec 5 and one Dec 7). Getting back $24! That’s another Christmas gift!
The Scout Leapreader junior is only $10.88 (reg $24.99) and my 2 year old loves ours!
Thanks for the heads up! Looks like the price has gone up on that one now.
Thanks so much Collin!!! I was able to price match at Walmart. We got my son the Leap Pad 2 just 2 years ago on a deal you posted. Ironically it started glitching just days before the extended warranty (Walmart) expired. So they are sending me out a check for the amount I paid! I went as soon as I saw your post and got him the Platinum – price matching it. And of course I got the extended warranty for $6!!! He is going to be so thrilled to have the larger screen!
Oh awesome! So glad you could grab the savings Kelly!
Is this good for a 1 year old? I’m looking for something for my son… he really likes pressing buttons…
I had Target price match the $64.99 Purple Leap Pad Platinum, plus I had a 20% off entire purchase code, and got the 5% off from my Target RedCard!!! Paid $48+tax!!!! Thanks!
Sweet deal Cheryl! Glad you could snag the savings!
Thank you Collin! I purchased the platinum leapfrog for my 4yr old granddaughter. Paid for wrapping and it is being shipped to Houston w/o me having to pay postage. I really appreciate all that you do!
