    • jineane82

      It’s $7 at Walmart for 3

  3. Dee

    Wow! Great deal! Thanks, H2S!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re welcome! So glad you could grab it!

  4. Holly

Has anyone used these and noticed a difference?

    • Shauna

They really do take the stink out of your washer. It doesn’t last long though. It says to use it every month, but I found myself needing it every two weeks. I finally got rid of my HE washer because the laundry “room” was on the main floor in a closet about three feet from the dining room table. I couldn’t handle the constant stink. I’ve had the new non-HE washer for 4 months and no stink 🙂

    • Laura

I use this. I have a HE top loader. I use it use a month when my “clean” light comes on. After the cycle, I do notice small bits of mold, dirt/gunk. I’ve never had a smelly washer issue, perhaps it’s because I’ve used this. My family doesn’t care for the strong smell of this cleaner, but until I find something else – we will put up with it.

      • Rachel

I agree with the strong smell! It is really easy to use but I leave my lid open after the cycle for my washer to dry and the smell is very over powering! I wish they made this in other scents or a scent free!

      • Emily

We use affresh washing machine cleaner. It has no smell and does a nice job in my top loading HE washing machine.

    • Jamie

I cloth diaper so my washer needs cleaned for obvious reasons. I love this!

  5. Susan

$5.59 for 3 on Target.com, FYI for comparison. Perhaps cheaper at Wal-Mart, did not check.

    • Laura

lesson learned. I just bought this at my Target store and paid $7.XX – next time I price match their web site. Thank you Susan

  6. Krissy

The reviews are not good. It says they have a strong chemical smell. I’ll pass, but thank you for posting 🙂

    • Tammi

It can be strong at first, but not overwhelming and I always run a quick cycle of just water after it and the smell doesn’t last.

    • Pam K.

I use this product every so often (not once a month…more like every 2-3 months) and I like how it works. I don’t smell anything after I use it. I run a water cycle right after it, though, and it works well. I don’t use it to get rid of any smells; I just like the idea of cleaning it out once in a while.

TIP: For those of you who have a front loader and get a strong smell, I never close my washer door all the way once we’re finished with the laundry. I allow it to air dry. The front loader doors seal really well (for obvious reasons) so if you close the door tightly after using it, the moisture inside becomes stagnant. Just push the door in lightly so it’s not sticking out and allow to air dry. I hope this helps!

  7. PriYa

A little off topic, I wanted to know if anyone has tried dryel for dry cleaning clothes.

    • Jeanette

Dryel is a nice product. I’ve used it a lot. It’s great for coats and dresses. I just wouldn’t use it for a mans suit.

      • PriYa

        Thanks Jeanette

    • Emily

Their stain remover is my favorite thing! We use dryell all the time

  8. Kristy

WOW!! Thanks so much for posting this deal! You have no idea how much I needed a deal of this stuff! We’ve been having issues with our washer and have been going thru this cleaner! Plus I was on my last packet. You are AWESOME COLLIN!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Perfect! So glad to help Kristy! You are very welcome! 🙂

  9. Jackie

    Thank you for posting!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Jackie!

  10. Lindak

I run bleach through the clean cycle on my front loader. That was suggested as an alternative to the cleaning products in my instruction manual.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for the tip!

    • Linda

A review of this product on Amazon states that a cup of bleach in a hot water wash cycle (no clothes) once a month is just as effective. They also had good tips on what is causing the odor.

  11. Jessica

Never used them before, but got them so that I could try them 🙂 I love anything Tide!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Oh good!

  12. Kelli

This is everyday pricing… still it is expensive. My HE machine says this about machine cleaning…

Open the dispenser drawer and add liquid chlorine bleach to the MAX level in both the bleach compartment and the fabric softener compartment.

What’s lest costly than bleach? Works for me!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for your feedback Kelli.

  13. Renee

I’ve used this before but I still prefer Affresh brand. I get 6 packs for $8.48 using subscribe & save. A little more expensive but feels it gets my machine cleaner without so strong of chemical scent.

  14. Amanda

Smell is horrible after you use these! I’ve never really had a problem with a smell from my front loader and have had the same one for 10+ years. Many people don’t know that you have to leave the washer door open after you remove a load so that it doesn’t stay wet (it has a water tight seal), don’t leave wet loads for extended periods, and check the front ring for lost socks! With that said… mine does get dirty and I have tried these but the smell from them is overpowering. My washer is right in the mudroom by the garage, and off the kitchen, so we walk past it multiple times a day. When we have tried these in the past the smell from them is horrible and overpowering. Clorox version cleans without the residual odor.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry to hear that Amanda. Thanks for your feedback on these.

  15. Abby

I had a maytag neptune (front load) for many years, and never really had odor issues. If it sat for too long I would run a load of whites with bleach and it was freshened up for the regular wash. Now with my LG jumbo front loader, the smell with start THE NEXT DAY. The little bumper on the door they say to use to keep air circulating just doesn’t let enough in. You have to keep the door wide open. On top of that, we have well water so there is no benefit of city chlorination. Affresh tabs could never solve the problem in one cycle. I still have to run a bleach cycle. I’m tired of my clothes that arent washed on hot smelling like a dog threw up on them. I got the 21 pack which ends up being .87/ea. Fingers crossed.

  16. mia

I must be odd…I kinda love the smell. Smells fresh and clean like a laundry mat or something. 😉

    • Shannon

I like the smell too! 🙂

    • DealHunter

      Me too !

  17. Sandi McCarthy

Just tried and it says no longer available.

    • Gayle

The first time I tried it, I got no longer available. I tried again and got it.

  18. Sa tho

    Sold out

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn. I am still finding it available when I click through. 🙁

  19. Michelle

Fyi….. you can also use bleach to clean out your washer! I do it when my clean washer light comes on. It’s way cheaper!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh awesome! Thanks for the tip Michelle!

  20. Cherie

Worked for me, no problem ordering just now

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Glad to hear it Cherie!

  21. Lauren

I like a product called glisten. It is a liquid and you can use some first to wipe out the washer and the seal and then you put some in the detergent area and run a load. Works great. With front loaders, you have to leave them open all of the time and take out the detergent tray and wipe in there and let that dry out… That being said, when it’s time for a new washer I will not consider one with those awful seals again.

    • Mary A.

Lauren may I ask how you get that detergent tray out? Mine needs cleaning really bad and I dont know how 🙁

  22. Beth

I use baking soda and make a paste to scrub the inside of the washer. Then I run a bleach cycle. It comes out smelling good and lasts a couple of months.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awesome! Thanks for sharing Beth!

  23. kelli

I was able to get 2. Great price! Thanks so much for all you guys do!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re welcome Kelli! So happy you could score them!

  24. An G

My repair man told me NOT to use liquid detergent on side loaders. Only powder and since I switched over a year ago, i don’t have the stinky smell.

  25. Cindy

Another option is to use vinegar in the front loading HE washer’s fabric softener slot. It does not leave a vinegary smell on the clothes when the cycle is done, but it does help clean the washer. Plus I leave the door open when it’s not in use.

  26. maryann

Price has bumped up to $6.83. Still a great deal though — thanks Colin!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome! Just updated.

  27. Kati

We use the tide multi purpose oxi stain remover for the cleaning cycle on our front loader and always leave the door open…we have three tubs of it from a deal at target years ago….

  28. Julie

I’ve been wanting to try the smelly washer and smelly towel products. Anyone know how the tide packs compare to smelly washer? Smelly washer has great reviews but I’ve been debating since it’s a little more.

  29. Barb

I have an LG front loader HE and I have never had a smelly washer. I always leave the door open and I always run about 1/2 cup of white vinegar in every load. Vinegar is a natural deodorizer, and my clothes do not smell like vinegar at all – infact they smell fresh like the Purex Crystals scent I used. Plus vinegar is cheap, a gallon is like $2 and it doesn’t just mask the odor or leave behind a strong smell like Tide. There are many articles online about vinegar in your laundry, just google it and you can decide. 🙂

    • Diana

      Thx Barb for the tip!

      • Diana

Do you put vinegar directly in the tub?

        • Lauren

When I use vinegar, I put it in the bottom of the basin before I put anything in the washer.

          • Diana

            Thx, Lauren!

  30. Susan

To avoid smell in front loaders and have fresh smelling towels:
1-Leave door and soap tray open until fully dry
2- use granular detergent, I personally use tide free 1/4 C

When I bought my new Samsung top of the line front loader, I was well aware of this odor problem that might occur. I had several sets of brand new towels, never washed before. I started with liquid tide, because the instructions said to use a liquid, a huge marketing campaign by PG and others in my opinion. Within 2 wash cycles the towels reaked, even after hanging them on the clothesline 2 days in the sun. After doing lots of online research I found out that liquid detergents are made with tallow and that is what builds up in the towels and makes them smell and possibly builds up in the washer and causes that smell also. After several washings with the granular detergent, the towels smelled normal, and I have never had a problem in 5 years. I don’t know if this will clear the problem that have been washed for years this way, but buy a few new towels and give it a try with granular detergent. Hope this will help, because we all have to do lots of laundry!!!

    • Diana

Do you have a link to the Tide that you use?

      • Susan

The only place I can find it is at Walmart, Target stopped carrying it. Tide free and gentle, in a white box, scent free. I keep fearing PG is going to stop making it so I have an embarrassing stock pile in my garage.

      • Diana

        Thanks, Susan!

        • Diana

I wonder if All free & Clear powder detergent would give the same result as Tide powder since All costs only 1/2.

  31. debern

Good to know about that tallow. Thanks Susan!

  32. Kasi

This has a high chemical smell. It works to get the smell out if the washer, but be careful breathing it in while dumping it in.

  33. Christa

I had to pay $8.15 but that’s will a good price compared to Walmart even with a coupon. Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome Christa!

  34. heann7

It looks like you can get a 9 count for $9.67 as well. Just change the quantity using the drop down arrow. I love this product.

    • Pam Tennant

Thanks. I cancelled by original %8.15 order and switched to the 9 count. A much better value. Thanks for the tip.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sweet! Thanks for sharing!

  35. Shelly

Price is back down to $6.45! Worth a try:) thank you for posting.

  36. Victoria

I think the best defense to keeping your washing machine stink and mold free is a little maintenance and leaving the door open always. I never close the door and every week or so I take the time to wipe the inner part of the gasket on our front loader out with a little vinegar water. We also cloth diaper and if this product has a strong chemical smell I think I would be hesitant of washing the diapers or any of our clothes in the machine afterward. Sounds like a great bargain, just unfortunately not a product I could use. Thank you though for all you do!
