I also saw several of the kinetic sand paradise island sets in the toy clearance aisle at my target for $9.99 (50% off the $19.99 original price).
There is a recipe to make this yourself. It uses flour and baby oil, I think. Can’t remember what was used for coloring.
I was going to do that, but heard the quality isn’t the same (which is to be expected). It also dries out periodically and you have to add something so the sand doesn’t start to stink. Bit the bullet & bought 20 lbs of sand (and 3 sets of beach-themed toys) at 90% off for an indoor sandbox for my son. 🙂 Under $50.

I found 2 lbs of kinetic sand (marketed as Interstellar Sand) for $4.00 (marked down from $4.99) at TJ Maxx in November. In my region, TJMaxx and Marshalls and Homegoods all have big toy sections with great buys on quality name-brand toys, even Melissa and Doug. These sister stores are not the first place I think of shopping for toys but I keep finding nice stuff for the birthday gift stash.
