    Love ours!

    • Laura

We do too! Bought all 3 last fall – and cut cable! 🙂 We have one like this, and 2 of the newer ones. If people can afford the newer one, I recommend that one. Well worth the extra $$

      • Bekah

What is the difference between the new one and this one?

        • Laura

          The new one has:
siri – so you can search that why and find what show you want to watch no matter what app it’s in.
          rechargeable remote WITH volume control.
          can also play games.
can also access the apple TV app store.

Well worth the extra money. We have the older one in the lower level so I can watch something while on the treadmill.

        • Mona

The biggest difference we noticed between the old one and the new one is how much faster the new one is! Well worth the upgrade.

      • tdtrisha

What is the newer version called

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh awesome! Thanks for your feedback April!

  2. Van

This one doesn’t come with remote

    • Laura

WoW! that’s weird. So it’s the older model AND no remote. Pass

      • Ultimate Shopper

all the q/a on the purchase says it has a remote….

  3. bspence05

April…how is it different from say Roku?

    • Laura

bspence05 – If I may – It would depend on what model(s) you are comparing. The internet is full of info. We chose the Apple TVs for our family. But we are Apple people. I wouldn’t recommend this unit as it’s the older one PLUS no remote

    • Niki

I love my roku but Apple TV is better

  4. Randy

@bspence05 – It works with your iTunes library, so if you have a healthy iTunes library from iPad/iPhone purchases all that if available to you. Also, there are a lot of cable channels and free channels (similar to Roku).

Doesn’t this model (new, w/remote) sell for $59.99 regularly at Target?

    • Laura

yes, I bought this model around Christmas last year at Target for around $50

  5. Ryan

It says it comes with a remote in the questions.

    • Katie

      I noticed that too

  6. Bailey

So, does this one come with a remote or not? It wouldn’t make sense if it didn’t. How would you operate it?

    • Si

Specifications says No Remote. you stream straight from your iPhone, iPad, iPod and you can always downloaded the Apple TV Remote from the iTunes Store on any of your devices.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The details list that it does not come with a remote, however under the customer Q&A, others have said that the remote is included. Hope that helps!

  7. terri

I just ordered two and picked them up in-store. Yes, the remote is included:) However, you will need to purchase an HDMI cable.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for your feedback Terri!

  8. riss

Do we need one for each tv? I’m new to this and planning to cut the cable. Thanks.

    • Laura

      Yes, one for each TV

  9. Nicole

If you have a smart tv then what does this do in addition to that?

    • Kelly

Depending on your smart TV, the only unique advantage this would have is mirroring for your iPad or iPhone and access to your iTunes library and that digital content.

I wrote this long post but I closed before posting. Long story short if you’re looking at a device like this I would go Amazon Fire tv. Expandable SD slot, voice control remote, prime access, can side load apps and even for the not so technically savvy it’s not that hard. I have an Amazon Fire loaded with all my old NES / Sega games and Bluetooth linked a wii controller to play them. There is also an app that turns your phone into a mouse pad for the Fire tv and an app to allow AirPlay from Apple devices, both under $2 each.

If you want to expand your collection, memory etc, Apple restricts this.

    • Jen M

100% agree. Just got rid of our Apple box and went to Amazon.

  11. Sandra

If you’re planning to cut cable and use Sling TV service to get some of those stations you still want then Apple TV does NOT have a SlingTV app. Only Amazon, Roku and Google chromecast do. they say they’re working on one but who knows when that’ll happen. We just did this thanks to last weeks how to cut the cable post so figured it out when researching. 😀 loving that extra $80 in our pocket

    • Laura

I’m sure you could get the sling app on your iPhone/pad and mirror it to the Apple TV. Truthfully, between all the apps you can get on the newer Apple TV 4, Netflix and Hulu- there’s no need to buy sling.
I just cut cable this past November.
I AirPlay the local news from my phone so I don’t miss anything

      • Laura

Oh and I get Hulu for free with bing rewards. I only pay for Netflix 😀

  12. Jen M

Ours just crapped out after about 4 years. Just got the Amazon Fire Stick…if you have Prime, get the Fire Stick.

  13. tonynknox aka goose7779

    Showing $64.99 for me. :\

  14. Jason

Price went to 68.89 in my area.

  15. myjourneydaybyday

Question! I have satellite internet so I can’t use Netflix or Hulu etc. But every device I own is Apple. Would purchasing a Apple TV be worth it for me? My husband & I are planning on moving w/in the next year and will only purchase a home with cable internet (lol) so that is also a factor! Opinions?

  16. myjourneydaybyday

My question above I forgot to mention I do have unlimited cell data so I can use my mother in laws Hulu account to watch a tv show or movie will that play wireless through Apple TV w/o me having to pull out my typical cords?
