From what I’ve seen the threat is over. I’ve been avoiding it myself, but I feel ok enough to head back now.
My thoughts are that after being under the microscope, so to speak, Chipotle will be more than careful when it comes to germs/bacteria in the future. I’m more leery of restaurants that haven’t gotten caught yet.
I agree and they were never able to track a source for the e.coli. It leads me to believe it was a food safety and/or handling issue. Part of the problem for chipotle is they use more naturally processed meat, which means less chemicals, preservatives, antibiotics, etc. Food like that is much more fragile in terms of how you can store and handle it. Regular meat can probably be left out and put back in and sit at “unsafe” temps for a short time and still be okay, where as non-treated meat will start to grow bacteria like wildfire. Hopefully they get everyone properly trained. I feel safe eating there again since the investigation is closed and they are taking action.
There was a big article last week that the major outbreak on the west coast was internally driven & possibly done on purpose as the strain of E. coli is not the one usually found in food.

My guess is that since the link requires your name you may have to show id when redeeming the offer. Not sure getting other people’s codes will be useful.

It’s only some areas who got it. And I thought that they get their ingredients from local areas anyway. It’s free and I’m sure after all this happened that it is over now. My area was not affected so I will for sure use this. Havnt tried the burrito. Only the bowl. So free lunch or dinner for me and my bf. I’m happy

Here’s what I did with the text deals…
O use me minutes/text only phone to send the 888-222.
When they text me back, I opened the text then forwarded it to the smartphone that has a wifi only phone app.
Then I opened it and clicked the link.
I do this with the Target mobile coupons, Krispy Kreme app, and other short text deals.
They always send future texts to my basic minutes/texts only phone. O just have to go that extra step to forward them each time.
To redeem, I’ve been lucky enough that wifi is available at these establishments.
I just open it up while ordering.

That was easy… Although I did get the stomach flu a few days after eating at a so cal location around the holidays… It was peculiar because my son and another child in our group got it too! I wondered if chipotle was the culprit. 😕

Exactly! There have been outbreaks at plenty of restaurants over many years. Chipotle isn’t the first place in history to have an outbreak.
They’re just the first to handle it HORRIBLY. Stuff like this happens all the time and most people don’t even hear about it, The reason Chipotle’s was such a big deal is because they tried to treat it as “not really a big deal” instead of shutting it down immediately before it turned into such a huge event. An example would be the salad packaging plant in ohio that more recently than this had a listeria outbreak that immediately shut the place down and opened a huge internal investigation- which is the appropriate thing to do. I say this as someone who works as a Microbiologist for a food processing plant. The way Chipotle handled it was atrocious and suggests a systematic issue. Subway also uses lots of fresh foods and has the potential for easy contamination. However, Subway has an incredible systematic approach to control micro in their foods, other companies study their procedures to try to be like them. Chipotle should consider doing the same. I think they’re finally starting to take the right steps, now that the FDA/USDA have forced them to, but this was a very big deal and a systematic failure for a company that is too large to be having such failures.

Chipotle is almost certainly under attack after bringing GMO free food to the public in such a public way. They say the strains of E. coli they found weren’t normally from food sources and they couldn’t even track it back to food suppliers. I’ll stand with them and take my burrito!
