Question: I took my $9.99 coupon from http://www.coupons.com for the pro plan dog food to petsmart. They said they could not accept coupons from coupons.com. Is there anything I can do. ๐Ÿ™ I am so disappointed. Their dog food is on sale for $11.49 so I would have only had to pay $1.49 for two bags of dog food. Could have really used this for my fur baby. ๐Ÿ™

They take all manufacturer coupons as well as their own. If you bought it, I would go back and ask to speak to a manager for a return and rebill. If you didn’t buy it, go back and ask for the mgr up front and ask for help with the coupon since it was previously refused.

I second what Dany said… I got 8 bags with no problems. The only store I have issues with is Wal-Mart (unrelated to this pet food of course).

Lisa I had the same problem. I had 4 coupons printed from 2 different computers in black and white. Petsmart had some 6lb bags on clearance for $8.37, so they would have have been completely free. When I was checking out my cashier called the manager, and she said she couldn’t take my coupons. I asked why and she said her manager told her it was not a valid coupon. I tried to fight it, and she said she would accept one in good faith, but not all of them. There was a huge line behind me so I felt bad and just got one, and asked to speak with the other manager. He said he looked at the petsmart coupon database and that coupon wasn’t one in it, meaning it was not a valid coupon. Then he also said petsmart does not accept photocopied coupon, and tried to teach me about coupon fraud. I told him I knew the rules, and showed him all my coupons had different barcode numbers on them. I also told him that coupon was only available for a couple hours on coupons.com because it was such a high value coupon, but he did not let me use them. I really want to get 3 more bags and not let these coupons go to waste, but I don’t know what to do.

These companies should really get their act together. If a petsmart coupon shows up on coupons.com then they have obviously partnered at some point. I don’t like having to “fight” to use my completely legal and valid coupons. Alot of cashiers are clueless about coupons and assume the worst if it doesn’t automatically go through the system. Hopefully someday soon business and partners can get it together.

I used mine at Petco … the cat food was on sale for $9.99 with the loyalty card so FREE after coupon

  2. Kati

That’s weird I used mine and I didn’t have any problems.

  3. maddie

I had something similar happen. They took 3 of mine with no issue but one kept ringing up as expired? I had a great cashier though who was patient considering she had to void my transaction several times before we realized that 1 of the coupons was expired…

  4. MelMandy

I took mine to Petco and the register beeped and said the first coupon was not valid yet (didn’t start yet) and the second coupon stated expired but was not actually expired. The cashier and manager could not figure it out and went ahead and accepted the coupons since they were all valid coupons.

  5. Kelly

I would totally check another Petsmart if there is one near you. I’ve got three within about 15 miles for me and there is one that will absolutely NEVER accept a single coupon, and another who has never given me a problem. It stinks that it’s so random and completely dependent on the manager.

  6. Deonna

I had an issue with these coupons at the commissary. I said I expected the coupon to be adjusted to the actual price of the food. The manager said its only valid at pet supply stores, and gave me an example “like when coupons say redeemable at Walmart.” I tried to explain manufacture coupons to her but she said no. Annoying!!

  7. LisaLisaLisa

I contacted purina directly and they said it was valid and offered me a completely free bag for my troubles. I also contacted petsmart cooperate. I was really irritated. Mine were black and white because I do not have a printer. Maybe they were afraid of photo copy but I only printed my 2 coupons. I asked to talk to a manager in store and she said she called her manager and that she wouldn’t come talk to me. I was so frustrated I left and just called cooperate.
