I’ve been thinking of switching over to sprint lately. Does anyone have any experience with them? I’m thinking a no contract phone would be good for me too. Thank you!!

I used Virgin Mobile for years which uses Sprint towers. When i moved to a smaller area i couldnt get service.

My son uses Sprint in Ft Myers FL with no issues.

Depends on where you live. I had them in VA for 11 years and they steadily got worse with outages and constant dropped calls. I was paying for service I was not getting and they refused to let me out of my contract when they could not fix the issues in my area. One complaint to BBB and another to the FCC (over privacy issues with other people’s calls coming through on our lines) and they let us out of the contract ahead of time with no penalties. I switched to Verizon 2 years ago and never looked back. I would not wish Sprint service on my worst enemy. They are horrible and unprofessional.

Darn. That does sound frustrating. 🙁 Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have been wanting to get a phone that can be used for Amazon Apps and Google Apps on Wifi, and that I can buy a card and load it with money for minutes, but not minutes that expire every month… I only want it to send it with my kids maybe once a month so they can have it in case of an emergency when they are at a practice or something, but I don’t want to pay 10 or more a month to keep the phone active/with minutes. Back in the nineties 😉 I used to have prepaid phones that worked that way, are there any that work that way now? (and of course, they have to have decent coverage, because if it doesn’t work when they need it, then there is no point in having it). Any ideas?

I recommend Tracfone, I’ve been very happy with them for years. If you sign up for their auto-refill it is $17.99 for three months of service. I have a “triple minutes” android LG smartphone and that gets you 180 minutes, 180 texts, 180MB data, and 90 days of service – that works out to $6 a month. I have had two different LG smartphones that work great with it, and I usually keep the data turned off to avoid phantom draws on it (updating, locating, etc.) and run it on wifi, but if I’m out and about and want to check email or look up map directions, etc I just turn the data on. Some texts come in with data off and some require data on, that’s the one quirk I’ve experienced. But, I can run Amazon & Google apps, swagbuck mobile apps, games etc – it works just like a small tablet. Minutes/texts/data don’t expire as long as you keep it active, which it does when you keep it on auto-refill, or if you manually renew it before your end date. If you do let your service lapse, you can always reactivate the phone later (but you would lose accumulated minutes/texts/data in that case). I’ve never heard of a lower cost fully functioning smartphone, and for me the coverage has been very good.

TMobile has a $3 plan that is for 30 minutes and texts combo. 10 cent a minute or text after that.
