Happy Friday: Sharing & Sending My Savings
Sent from reader, Liezi:
Hello Collin & team! Allow me to thank you for all the wonderful deals that you post on Hip2Save. I have followed your site since August of 2015. Since the Christmas holiday, I was able to save all these wonderful items that I’m going to send to my family overseas from a free water bottle from LL Bean and calendar from Shutterfly to different clearance finds in store and online from Target, Amazon, Kohl’s, Walmart, Crocs, JC Penney, Macy’s, Sears & VS with the use of free secret rewards card. I was not planning to send any presents to my family as I’ve been a stay-at-home mom to my 17 month old daughter. But since I scored such great finds, I’m so happy & so blessed to share it with them. The schedule of the shipment is this end of the month & I can’t wait for them to have it.
HAPPY FRIDAY!
Do you have a funny, “Hip”, or unique photo to share?! Email us at happyfriday@hip2save.com. Such a sweet story! Glad you are able to send gifts to your family! And it’s awesome that you were able to get great deals.
I’m so glad too as it is my joy to share it to them.:)
👍
Love this! That’s why I coupon too…giving and giving back is so much easier now:)
So true!
Good job!!
I am sure everyone has a food pantry in their neighborhood, so just some food for thought, all those great buys that are a few too many for your use, are greatly appreciated at the food pantry. I love to by cereal when there is a great deal to stock up the pantry. Just a great thought.
I love that! How thoughtful 🙂
So great to be able to buy things I usually can’t afford. I look forward to H2S every day. I’m a stay at home mom of 3, one child severely disabled and get absolutely no state help even though I cannot work so it’s a blessing to be able to score freebies for the family and great buys. Love all you do h2s!!
how much is the shipping? iam assuming its alot, one time we wanted to send something overseas that was not more than 1 ounce or something, and it costs almost 100 dollars to ship
I sent it by boat & it would take around 45 days. I paid $100 for the shipping & pick-up charges.
I ship packages to West Africa a few times a year through the USPS. I use their online postage and customs form – I think it takes maybe 5% off the bill when you fill everything out online?? It saves time too since you print your customs form/postage off and just hand it over when you get to the post office. Shipping overseas is always expensive – at least to West Africa!:) I think I usually spend between $50 and $80 on postage alone depending on how much my box weighs (I think my last box was around 7lbs). We try to group birthdays together and holidays together. As someone who grew up overseas, I know how precious those packages from family are! If you don’t have much to send, or if you have small items – use a flat rate box. They are cheaper per pound.
I have tried sending once to USPS in a flat rate box, it took long to get in the Philippines & it’s costly too. I agree that sending it to them is precious as we are so far away from them & during special occasions we could not give or send gifts immediately.
My target cashier asked me how I saved so much money with coupons yesterday- i wrote down “Hip2save.com” so she’d have it when she got home!! Collin is the best! 🙂
I wish we had ”Balikbayan Padala” service here so I can send stuff to my family overseas too
Hi Janice, I’m just so glad to have a Filipino store here in Memphis that has that service. They would also pick-up the box in your house for an extra $5.
Are you talking about VGM off Summer in Memphis? I go to that store every chance I get to get my favorite Filipino foods. Me & my Mom are in NEA Arkansas. I began couponing because mom would send those boxes to PI and spend hundreds. She just sent a box about a month ago full of my coupons products!!
Yes Stephanie, that’s the store…I’m glad to know that you have been there & how couponing also helps your Mom in sending packages to loved ones in the Philippines.
Lol that word reminds me of my grandpa. Although I was little I can still picture the box and knots/ rope he used to tie the box up. He was a merchant marine.
Thank you for sharing my story Collin!:) My family are so excited. It has been shipped & they might get it by next month. I keep stalking in here to save more & hoping before the end of the year I may able to send them another package.
I’m also a stay home mom and we’re planing to visit our families overseas this summer (after two years) so like the wonderful lady in this post, I’m trying to snag any deal to buy gifts for my and my husband family members, today I snagged 5 toddlers shirts and shorts set for my nephews 😉 my sisters want American makeup so every week I look forward the makeup deals at cvs, Walgreens and target!! So thank you Collin and crew for every thing you do <3
Such a great story of generosity and spreading love.
Thanks Sharon & I’m grateful that God has given us extra so we can share it.
I have sent so much stuff to my family in the Philippines too since 2009 when I started couponing and following Hip2Save! Whenever there’s a deal, I think they’d be able to use I’d buy it and collect and also send a box when the box gets full! It’s less than $100 for a large box no weight restriction. From laundry detergent, small kitchen appliances, even a Keurig machine, paper deals from staples, beauty products, shoes and clothes! The last thing I bought was a pair of those reebok shoes deal Collin posted. My brother loves it and can’t wait to see and use them! Thank you Collin!
Wow you’ve been an H2S follower for a bit long already so I’m sure you’ve sent a lot of goodies back to Philippines & I’m sure you’ll continue to do it as it’s our delight to share. The great thing also is that we don’t get to buy those stuff in full price. As we know “branded things” are so expensive there & they would be happy to receive it.
So nice to be able to send to the PI.
Just a thought. When my brother was in Afghastain 2 years ago. He needed some extra towels. With Colin’s deals and free shipping I was able to order direst from Kohls and ship right to him. Plus using ebates. Maybe another good way of sending larger items.
Sears does the same. Every time my husband deploys I order all of his pillows, towels, shower shoes, and other home good comforts from Sears and they ship it directly to him for free since I am a shop your way member!
