Where Do YOU Get Free Snacks or Treats for Your Kids While Shopping?

“I recently saw a comment from a Hip2Saver that mentioned kids get a free cookie at Sam’s club everyday. I also saw recently in a Target comment thread about kids being offered a free clementine or treat at some Super Target stores and some people had similar comments about grocery stores offering freebies to their kids.
I was not aware of these possibly ongoing offers and I am curious – do people have to stop and ask at the bakery or snack bar, or is it usually just offered in their area by a designated employee? Could you consider running a post with a comment section dedicated to this? People could share which stores offer this, which regional stores have something like this, how to obtain the snack, where to look for it, etc.”
Here is WI, between Madison and Milwaukee, we have two awesome options. A community grocery store offers a piece of fruit to kids (often a wide variety). We also have a specialty high end grocer that has samples of fruit, veggies, dips, sausage, cheeses, snacks, granola, and so much more! We love to go there, try all sorts of new and exciting things, and then leave with full bellies and something new and amazing to try at home. π
Brennan’s or Gooseberry’s, by chance?gb711@tds.net
Yes, tell me more details! We live between Madison and Milwaukee too.
Ingles Grocery Store offers a free cookie to kids 12 and under in the Bakery.
They also have free popcorn for kids in the movie rental area!
Our Kroger( Marketplace) also gives a free helium balloon and cookies too.
In our area we have Hyvee stores and they set out baskets of fruit with a note saying that parents may take one for their child.
LOVE all the samples at Costco; WholeFoods in Austin offers free fruit for kids – there is a display by customer service
Basha’s in Arizona give a free cookie, but you have to ask at the bakery counter. Recently saw my Fry’s (Kroger affiliate) had a small sign in produce department encouraging parents to take a mandarin orange for their kids.
Publix has free cookies. Target has free popcorn with a sticker. The sticker is the one they will give you when you checkout. I suppose you could ask for a sticker before you start shopping, so the popcorn could preoccupy your child. I always use it as a bribe!
Harris teeter has free cookies. They are in a container in the front of the store with a dragon on the sign. Kroger will also always have samples of fruit and sometimes whole fruit (bananas, oranges) for the kids!
Our Hyvee here in Iowa is awesome! They have baskets in the produce area with free bananas, oranges, or apples for the kids, then you can stop by the gelato and they have a sign saying to ask for a free sample. The Deli will give out a free slice of cheese to each kid, and the bakery is always loaded with free samples of cookies, doughnuts, bread and sometimes even mini cupcakes. One of the workers is always in the front by the doors ready to tell everyone who walks in with kids where to go and get them so food π
Publix in Florida always give the children a cookie. If you ask for a Cookie Club Card your child’s name will be placed in the running for their monthly drawing. And children or adults get to taste a free slice of their cold cuts in the deli department. On another note, they fill most antibiotic prescriptions for free too! I love Publix!
Kroger and Meijer both offer a free cookie at their bakery for kids in Fort Wayne Indiana.
I read this the other day and I had never seen this type of thing at our (okc) walmarts or Targets. however just testerday I was shopping in my local walmart neighborhood market and saw they had a basket with free halos with a sign to try one. Made my daughters day!
I took my grandbabies which are 6 yrs & 3 yrs to the Walmart in 2601 Fashion Pl,Bakersfield, CA My grandson knows that if you go to the bakery you get a cookie. He asked, “Grandpa can we please go get a free cookie?” We went over the lady in the bakery was, “Very rude that she made my grandson cry!” My wife wanted to just leave are whole basket there! We finished the shopping we spent $198.00 that trip. I asked the cashier if she could call a manager so I could take to a manager. That didn’t happen I just happen to look up & seen a gentlemen that walk pass me that had a badge that said Assistant Manager. I said excuse me sir, he keep walking I said excuse me I’m running after him. He finally stop. I explained to him what happened. He stated he would check into it. Well I thought ok I will give this store another try yesterday I went back with my grandchildren I spent $235.00 well the experience was the same π smh but this time the we had 4 employee’s jumping this little boy customer’s were looking they could not believe what was happening I told my husband you know let’s just go just bout that time the Assistant manager comes by he said I will give the children a cookies I told him you know you need to put a handle on your employee’s mouth they are very rude I can’t believe how they talk to customers. He said look like I told you before I never heard of this program I’m looking into this we told him we shopped all over the states this is the only one that hasn’t done this we have been in a Walmart that they use roller skates to get around in the store as it’s so big. He said oh you have been to many Walmarts then. Then we get up to check out the Cashier was very rude because are Olive Oil didn’t have a label on the back we couldn’t buy it! Instead of her calling for a price check. She didn’t she just said we couldn’t buy it! She didn’t have a problem holding up the line for 20 minutes on another customers that had WICK then there was a problem with that!
