Sports Authority: Store Closing & Liquidation Sale on Furniture, Fixtures & Displays
Check out this email I received from Hip2Save Reader Kristen:
With Sports Authority going out of business, I recently received an email stating all their fixtures are for sale. Everything from clothing racks & displays, fitting rooms, material handling equipment, to ladders, pallet racking, and even trash compactors & generators at select locations. You have to speak to a manager at the store to make the transaction, but clothing racks & displays all had price tags in the location by me. Great ideas for anyone looking for storage ideas!
These displays and racks make for great storage in your garage, clothing racks for Church outreach programs and even yard sales. Here are some of the items I spotted for sale at my local Sports Authority in Boise, Idaho…
Round Rack $45
2ft Wire Basket $10
2ft Shelf $5
1ft Face Outs $1
Grid Peg Hooks 10 for $1
Baseball Bat Rack $5
Shoe Bench $75
Headless Mannequin $150
(Thanks Kristen!)
Are ALL of them going out of business? I was just at my local one last Saturday and nothing was on sale
Yes, all of them are now closing. Some are further into the process of closing because when they first filed for bankruptcy they set some stores to close. Later they announced all would close.
Maple Grove, Minnesota store had prices on hardware. A lot of stuff was just 25% off. Some clothes were marked as not being part of the closing sale, including Asics and Soffee. We bought my daughter a new batting helmut for 30% off. I was a little worried if it was a good helmet and a good price. But I compared to Amazon when we got home, and it’s highly rated and Amazon’s was $18 higher.
Awful selection at my local stores in Hudson County NJ. 30% off and it appears most of the prices are inflated. 2015 playoff shirts at full price? 2013 all star game as well.
They are inflated… the first couple weeks of the sale my husband took me to look at bikes for my birthday. He’d gone in the week before to look at bikes and saw one for $300 on a regular sale that he wanted to buy for me…when he took me back for their “closing sale” it was $100 MORE…at 10 or 20% off…ridiculous.
It’s because our sale was better than the original price then marked down. Nothing was raised to be higher just now everything is off of the original rather than sports authorities normal sales which had higher savings.
Hancock Fabrics is also beginning to liquidate their fixtures and racks
All of the ones around me have already closed. Before they closed, they had very little % off and it wasn’t worth the buy in my opinion. :/
Some of the stores will be open until end of August. They have to stretch out the percentages off to elongate the merchandise. They realized 15,000 of us were getting laid off I consider your annoyance a blessing. To each as own.
Their stuff is more expensive now than it was before their going out of business sale lol.
Mine is not worth it yet. Everytime I drive by I see people walking out with nothing.
Thanks for the heads up. Made out well when our Macys closed. Gonna check out Sports Authority this week!
You’re welcome! Good luck!
Can I just say what a discouraging “sale” nothing was a good deal, thought I found an ok deal on a tennis racket for my daughter paid $20 went to Walmart right after same racket was $10!!! So frustrating
Same here in SoCal. Inflated prices and no one walking out w purchases. I had a GC that I had to use up, I ended up buying batteries w it.
Thanks for posting Collin! I agree the merchandise aren’t at that great of prices yet, but if anyone is looking for fixtures for storage or sales, these are great to come by! 🙂
You’re welcome Kristen! Thanks for the feedback! 😉
