What is a virtual debit card? How do you use it?

    • mel

It’s an electronic GC. I use it to “buy” another Egift card, like Target, CVS, Starbucks, Dunkin or Panera Bread.

In the fine print it says you will receive an email or text msg (depending on your submission format) that will include the card value and details in pdf format. It can be used at check out, whether in store or online. In store just show your phone to the cashier and online just enter the credentials as you normally would any card. It is provided by master card. Pretty much a digital card. HTH

Most stores in my area are reluctant to accept a virtual credit card number (either printed or shown on a phone), that’s why I use them to order a store specific eGC. If you place an order online, you can’t split the tender. Maybe use it towards a bill payment where you can enter the amount, but other than that these cards can be kinda a pain to redeem.

Target’s updated system supposedly doesn’t allow manual entry of card numbers anymore..Found out awhile ago with a virtual card. However, it’s easy enough to use to pay a bill online.

I have gift cards stored on my Target gift card but I’m not able to access the site anymore. Does anyone know how I can get my gift cards?

      Lol! 😉

I did the promotion like 2 weeks ago, I got my 2 virtual cards right away. I did not want to waste ink so I tried using them on line, but it would not wok. I tried buying an Amazon gift card, Sturbucks, but it would not work. I finally printed both virtual cards and tried to use them at Walgreens. They said that they do not take those kind of cards, but after I told them that the reason I bought them is because I saw a display on their store, they said ok. The manager tried to applied it to my purchase, it did not work, I asked at Ralphs and they said they have never seen those kind of cards. If any one is able to use them, please let me know which store took them. I would prefer to use them on line. TIA 🙂

make sure you’re using their billing address, not your billing address when you order an eGC. I haven’t done this one yet, but past cards for these types of promos have included that info in the email or the pdf of the card.

        • Gia

What’s the reason for using their billing address?

      • pandoraaddict

There has been an issue with the cards, I’ve seen others have trouble using (even with the correct info/address). You need to contact TPG, the rules of the candy promotion has the contact information.

      • Sarah L

Thanks for the heads up. Think I’ll pass then.

Awesome! Thanks! My bf loves to keep these bags on his nightstand for late night sweet tooth (chocolate is his obsession).

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome!

In the official rules, it says that although you can do 2 submissions per person, you can only do one per receipt. So if you’re planning on doing the deal twice, do it in separate transactions.

    • Denise

Thank you! Didn’t realize you can do it twice, even though Collin included it in the post!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for the heads up Katie! Good to know! Just updated the post!

  5. Jonny

    Yum thanks for the post!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      YW!

  6. Pam

I got the virtual debit card from Nestle but I couldn’t use it.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh darn 🙁 I wonder why?

      • Pam

I emailed customer service and they were very prompt in assessing my concern. They made me choose between PayPal or check since they were aware of the problem in using the virtual debit card.

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh good! So glad they were able to help! Thanks for the update!

How long should it take to get a text back?

    • tracy

Took about 5 minutes via email

  8. L

I received one of the virtual scarfs through Eggo wedge promotion and was able to use online at Target for items to be picked up in store.

  9. AJ

I’ve also been having trouble using it online and in stores.

    Thanks Pam, I’ll email them.

  10. Angie

I got a $5 amazon gift card using the promotional gift card. I used my name and phone number and their billing address: 111 John Street, New York, NY 10038

  11. Andrea

I was able to pay the $5 toward my AT&T bill. 🙂
Side note, I submitted my receipt and within 4 minutes, I had my virtual gift card! Thanks Collin!

  12. Marie

Starbucks has a $10 minimum- so won’t work there. I’ve had the best luck using these virtual cards to pay my phone bills, both land line and cell.

  13. lisa

Just used the virtual cards to get $5 Walmart ecards. Woohoo.

  14. Mary

The Nestle pouches 8 Or 12 ounce. are in the Wags ad for $3.49 buy one get one free this coming week. Do we have to buy 4 or can we buy only 1 and get one free then get the rebate gift card?

    • sjbraun

At my Walgreens, I bought 4 — 1st transaction, rang up 2 (so paid for just one), 2nd transaction, rang up the other 2 (paid for one because of the BOGO). Went home, emailed receipts, had both debit cards minutes later 🙂 No problem with them being BOGO.

  15. Leslie

I just emailed TPGNY. I can’t make the virtual debit work no matter what I do!
